I don't care for insects but stinging ones I really try to avoid!

Imagine looking out a skyward facing window and seeing this!

Oh and this is really pushing it. What if the window pane broke? o_O

I dunno man, your best bet is probably setting the house on fire. It's the only way to be sure.

hair spray

+ lighter

LOL!!!

In all seriousness, I use Carburetor Cleaner in the barn, kills 'em instantly & with the straw attached, it makes a nice long stream! (15'-20')
I clean so much equipment, parts, tools, etc. that I buy the cheap stuff by the case.
There is almost always a can within reach in nearly every work space.

Belt dressing works too, will melt their wings off before they hit the ground if you're up high enough. Be careful around painted objects though - the active ingredient is methylene chloride!

There was a Preying Mantis INSIDE my window. No effing idea how he got there, but I nearly pooped my pants.

To make matters worse, while I was approaching him/her/it to kill it with some spray it LOOKED RIGHT AT ME.

Mantids are beneficial creatures by far! Instead of killing it let it find its way outside. It will eat a lot of BAD critters!

I know it can be tough living alone and without an SO, OP, but you should probably call some guy/man/whatever to come over and take care of the wasp for you.
