See the large ENTER button?
Yup... and regardless of how hard I press it, it doesn't print the "=" symbol. I even tried yelling at it.
To start an equation in excel you have to type "=789464+4848+468-4984" whatever... if that "=" isn't there then it just prints your text and doesn't perform the function.
Again, the numpad needs a "="
No, you can type +789464+4848+468-4984 and it will automatically put the = in there for you. That way you do not have to leave the number pad.

Hence....
FAIL!
Why are you using excel for basic equations? If you aren't putting in cell references, you probably shouldn't be using excel to do the calculation.

At least he told me the work around. All I can assume is you were just as lost with what I meant as "Fritzo". You can thank KT for teaching you something today as well.
Thanks KT
There's nothing in this thread I didn't already know.
What have I got in my pocketses?
It's quicker to do things in Excel than with calc.exe.
Say for example:
SQRT((AVERAGE(C1:C10))/15)*C11
Never knew that!
Thanks KT
Yes, but the OPs complaint was that the numpad didn't have an enter key on it. In other words, his equations would be completely 156+156+648+235 type of equations.
Couldn't you reassign the NumLock key to act as an = key?
Another reason why the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is the best keyboard.
![]()
enter, parenthesis, and backspace above the numpad
