any wasps near the exterior of the house where you are hearing the noise???

Had a similar thing going on in a house I used to own. Wound up being a couple of wasps nests inside the soffit panels.

I can't confirm that it was the wasps nests and wasps making the noise, but after I let loose a can of wasp spray into the soffit, both the sound and the wasps went away
