4 285s or 380s all overclockable......I.....my SO is going to kill me.

 EVGA

What do you use to power it?? Three 6pin connections on each card, two 8 pin cpu connectors on the motherboard!!
This things screams dual power supply, here is to hoping it comes with a cable for joining two power supplies together.

That's nuts... Looks like you gotta buy the mobo AND four new EPVGA GTX 285 Classified Ed. cards.

so... $450 + 4($380) = $1,970

A little steep considering dual 5870 X2 + any X58 board will probably destroy it in 2-3 months.

Still cool stuff though. Glad to see someone pushing the envelope.

^ my thoughts too. Though I also mentioned on evga it would be nice if other more bang per buck cards like the 275 were also supported.

So, any1 noticed the three 6pin pci-e connectors on the videocard? Why do I wonder, because with a 8pin and a 6pin, the videocard can also pull 300W total (75W from the pci-e slot). For fourway sli with these cards you need 12 6pin pci-e connectors 😛

4 way is for n00bs.

if you look at the board, it has 7 PCI-E slots. WTB 7 way 9800GT benches! im betting that the EVGA folding team is about to break Stanford's servers with new data from people crunching on a 4 way platform LOL

ed: i forget, does F@H require you to run the cards in SLI? if so, wouldnt it actually be possible to use 7 9800GTs on this board for folding?

No SLI required for folding.

Yes, you could use 7 9800GTs for folding if the board actually has enough PCI-e lanes to support that many cards at say 4x per slot when all slots are populated. And of course a massive PSU.

hopefully some EVGA staff will chime in on the matter there to give us 100% confirmation. if this is the case, i may look at this concept again at some point if i have a couple grand to spend on a folding rig lol

I should update my folding rig(s)...
but instead of 9800GT's, I would buy 7x Riser Cards, build my own case, and use 7x GTX275's or the current equivalent. 😛

That is sick sick sick ! The mobo with 7 PCI-E slots is 😀 I wonder how is scaling with 4 cards...

he'd have to rig a few 1200W psu's to run in tandem to do that XD

I saw that board over at XS yesterday. Very sweet looking and 7 PCI-E slots is insane. Little pricey at $450 but the kind of guy who'd need that kind of board probably wouldn't blink at the price.

7x9800gt's would be sick for folding, but your problem wouldnt be power (~85w or less each) but heat. With single slot coolers in a well ventilated case and nothing nearby those things can already hit high 70s! imagine with 3 9800s on each side. You'd want 3 riser cards or more

This is functionally equivalent to the Asus P6T7 Supercomputer board released a month or two ago. You only get a "full" x16 if you use slots 1,3,5 and 7. Otherwise, I think it's an x16 and a ton of x8s.

My board is almost the same, just missing the extra NF200 chip and the 7th slot.

Why would she kill you? You speak as if you're the only one who can spend. If your SO is born in this century in American, then she'll let you have your toys but then she'll have hers, say a $2500 Louis Vuiton hand bag? or some silly $1200 boots to go along with that funky looking $600 pairs of designer shades in Neiman's. I ain't getting to the designer jewelry yet.

Then you'd be the one killing yourself for opening the pandora's box on the savings, and guarantee you'll think twice next time about spending money on a 4way SLI just to brag (oh yeah, your SO buys stuff to brag to her g/f's too). My SO always let me have my toys, but I'm not letting her bait me again.

So this works exactly like regular quad-SLI but with 4 slots instead of 2? Folding works fine in a 1x slot from what I read so it would be great for that. 2 G300's should be enough for everyone. lol

Pretty much. Now it's possible to have four gtx285's in quad sli, instead of three of them in tri-sli, or having two GTX295's in quad sli, which are pretty much four GTX275's.

Then again, you could buy those GTX295 MARS Edition from Asus for $1000 a piece or so, and basicaly have four GTX285's in SLI as well 😛
