Gotta say, smart move by Microsoft to steer attention away from a launch lineup lacking a 'killer app'.

Hmm, we'll have to see.

Wal-Mart signed a contract with Microsoft to get a certain allocation. I don't recall if it said how much, but its was a large perecentage of the total amount of them.

Where do you live exactly? Could be that games don't sell so well in your neck of the woods and thus Wal-Mart has allocated more to other places.

i live in berkshire county in MA, relatively isolated...but we have a mall and a few walmarts;)

Hmm. Any large cities very close to you?

I'll see if I can't find out how many we're supposed to get around here.

Hopefully there won't be a shortage, at least around where I live. I'd love it if it panned out like the PSP launch where they expected to sell a lot around here and only like one person showed up for the launch.

no large cities within an hour.albany and springfield are the largest two and they are both roughly the same distance from me.

Hmm, I dunno. I'll see if I can't find out how many to expect around here.

FTW!

I own an Xbox and am holding off on 360 until a killer app comes along. I hate to say it, but PGR3 is not it and either is Madden. God of War looks somewhat interesting, but I can wait until people actually get to play the game.

It'll probably be Halo 3.

I'm sooooo tired of the 'killer app' argument. The lineup doesn't have a Hale-esque 'killer app' but they do have solid titles across a number of different genres. Neither the PS2 or Gamecube launched with a 'killer app'. In fact, the PS2 lineup flat-out sucked for a year.

what if in the event that all the stores get more than enough for everyone and the people who buy like 5 of them, planning to make a profit from re-selling. cant profit?

This could be good news for Microsoft, the less xbox being sold, the more money it keeps.

meh, those are numbers for the initial shipment. Wait a week or two after launch and you can pick one off the shelves.

all these people buying xbox 360's with their cc's might end up in trouble if there is no short supply and cant get rid of their 360 before interest piles up
