the woman's place is to cook, clean & care for children

she's MAYBE worked for 7 years total?
Don't kid yourself Boomer, she has worked for all of those 36 years. ^_^

OP, it's not "the woman's place to cook, clean & care for children". It is the responsibility of BOTH parents if BOTH parents work outside of the home.

You would agree then, it's the woman's job to change the oil, plant the trees, build the deck, etc? In my limited observation of a few households, it's the man being required to absorb some of the "women's duties" around the house while he still handles all of the "man's duties" himself. I'm not saying anything about it, just an observation.

OK Mosh...I agree with that. She only worked outside the home...in a paying job...for about 7 of our 36 years of marriage.

It takes a community to raise a child...

think about it...

how many different people do you remember babysitting you, or baby sitting a group of kids?

Superior eh? How do you figure?

Men generally have superior physical strength, they are able to lift more or do more strenuous exercise.

Women have more emotional depth, they can talk to each other on a far deeper level and form more intimate relationships, they can also express their emotions more passionately and explicitly.

So it is strength that makes one physically superior?

So being more open to emotion is superior?

Men have penises...women have vaginas.
That explains it all...

very good. 😉

for the record, men and women are NOT equal. our strengths and our weaknesses vary. which is why we should work together.

My point is while we are different we have an equal number of strengths and weaknesses, so neither sex is the superior overall, they are equal.

What about a stressful situation in which an emotional outburst would be a distraction; in such a situation would not more emotional "restraint" be superior?

No not at all, if everyone was as emotionally available as women, it wouldn't be a distraction. Being open with people about emotions is rarely a problem, and contrary to popular belief all women don't have emotional outbursts when it would be a distraction.

I can go with that. 🙂

The point is, they are not equal. SOME aspects may be equal, the right TO work, etc. but to say that the sexes are equal is such an oversimplification that it borders on absurd.

My point is, while different and unequal in certain areas overall they both have an equal number of strengths and weaknesses so all things considered no sex is superior. If no sex is superior then they are equal.

Now you have two options.

Option 1: Concede that I was right and the sexes are equal
Option 2: Continue your argument and name the superior sex
