At least Atari is letting them patch it rather than having them work on an expansion pack.:laugh:Originally posted by: apoppin

"At least" ? - you mean, Atari is letting purchasers Beta test for them ... they are undoubtedly doing the expansion right now :|Originally posted by: Schadenfroh

Looks like the best solution is to just wait 6-months for it to be more mature (bugs fixed) and then purchase a used European copy (so Atari does not get fed), this game does not have activation, right? If not, then we should be good to go to purchase used.

Do you have the new patch 1.1a installed?

I have the exact same problem as do many other Vista users.
Tried numerous workarounds, nothing seems to get it working. The CTDs happen especially often on certain situations, such as opening an inventory, opening any of the menus, as well as seemingly random times.
I was able to get to Act I the first time through, now I'm not even able to get past the tutorial.

That review pretty much nailed it. The biggest problem is the frequency of map loads. A patch may be able to fix this by increasing memory allocation.
Obviously, for those with Vista, the biggest problem is getting it to run.
The voice acting is passable. Geralt's voice really grates on me though, and he tends to come off stilted.
Edit: It would also be nice to have an option to turn off autosaving, which occurs frequently and adds even more time to level loads. The savegames are getting rather large now as well (>20MB each).
If anyone find a way to work around this I hope you shout it out load here at the forums. Bought the game today hoping it would be something out of the ordinary, it really is. Those few minutes I can actually play without the game crashing. Totally random crashes for the most, seems to be a bit more at the cutscenes though.
Yep this is exactly the same as me, pressing a key to go to the inventory or journal and the screen can flicker and i know it's going to crash. I have got as far as the dwarf but it's a real struggle, it is frustrating that none of the developer bods have acknowledeged that there is a problem on vista. It will be interesting to see what the feedback si like when it is released in the US this week.
