Where the hell is crookback bog? I'm supposed to find some crone there, but there is no quest marker, and I can't see anything relevant on the map. I've seen numerous bogs in this game.

Is this for the part of the main quest after you see Keira? If so she gave you a book and you'll get a quest marker after you read it.

I'm a little suspicious of that one. Their supposed 16x looks very poor vs NV 16x:

I wonder if there will be any performance difference, will have to benchmark again later.

Tried the new patch briefly just now. Definite hairworks improvements, I can now maintain a solid fps in the mid 30s even while fighting a pack of wolves (all hairworks enabled, it appears) with everything maxed. Also sharpening now has a low/high option instead of just on/off.

Not really a big deal if you ask me. Unless your PC is a toaster, you should always have 16x AF globally enabled in your driver panel...

Great article with official statements from CDPR about the supposed downgrade.

Very candid interview and it puts to bed the whole downgrade nonsense. They're going to be releasing future patches which will increase graphical fidelity and give us more tweaking options, so in the end, we all win I suppose.

I'm overall happy with the game. Only thing I wish they changed graphically is the vegetation...I really don't like that 2D stick-like vegetation. I'd definitely preorder from CDPR again.

The issue is 99% of vegetation in real life might as well be 2D. Leaves are mostly paper thin. And, obviously, the diminishing returns on "good graphics" when it comes to rendering individual blades of grass and bush leaves scales up pretty quickly.

I think his point is that the in-game 16x AF is not actually 16X. That or the control panel one is actually higher than 16x.

The sprite based foliage can be a letdown in some cases, but it does allow for a big performance gain over other methods.

My biggest issue with the foliage is that it has no mass. The hurricane force winds blow things around all over. Even slight breezes make everything move in a very unrealistic manner.

Quick Google search ;) ,

Btw changelog on 1.03 patch is also on GOG Galaxy launcher.

Thanks.
As I said, some of us aren't using Galaxy with our GOG copies, so we don't get to see any of that info.
You'd think they'd include the release notes with the patch download for us not using Galaxy, but nope, just the patch.

I really want to get into Witcher 3 but I guess I'm going to wait. I had a GPU upgrade in the works long before the game was released, this just makes me want to do it. I CAN play it now, but I don't want to have the experience change when I'm through a good chunk of the game.

I'm waiting to see what AMD will bring to the table with the 3xx launch next month, and my birthday is also coming up at the same time. Maybe I'll subsidize an upgrade to a 970 or a 380.

I just put it up for information, btw worth using Galaxy being free and very stable,no real reason not to use it IMHO.

Funny you said that, I have Galaxy downloading/installing W3 right now, so I don't have to keep manually grabbing/installing the updates.

Sucks it made me re-download the game again and wouldn't recognize my standalone W3 GOG installation files I already had but no big deal, its almost done installing now.

And they do not tell us steam users what goes into the patches, which is really annoying.

EDIT: Finally they put up a change lgo on steam, but only for 1.0.3, not for 1.0.1 or 1.0.2.

To be fair TW3 is my very first GOG.com game so I went straight in with the Galaxy installation.

Btw you might like this little write up on Galaxy launcher,http://lifehacker.com/why-gog-galaxy-is-worth-trying-out-even-if-you-use-ste-1703601685

Thanks, I'll read that now since I was wrong, my Galaxy/W3 download is gonna take awhile, so Ive got time while i wait.

When I posted above it was almost done I just took a quick glance at it and it said 24gb, so I thought it was going pretty well.

After I was done typing that post, I had a better look and it was 24gb left not already downloaded. (so yeah, Galaxy downloads aren't the fastest)

I didn't bother editing my post since I'm sure nobody here really cares how long my game download takes.

Anyhow, I'm off to read that link.

edit: Ahhh crap! Download just paused "server problem"....guess I am gonna have time to clean my rain gutters today after all....LOL

EDIT 2: Ahhh...ok, I'm stupid.
Since the download was "stalled" ...
I tried just using my standalone GOG files to install the game to the GOG Games folder that Galaxy uses.
And that works just fine, no need to re-download the game installation files if you want to move from the standalone GOG version to using Galaxy.

That's ridiculous. How do problems like this still exist. Games were getting it right more than a decade ago, and these guys can't manage it in 2015?

I'm supposed to go to somewhere called "Crookback Bog". There's no quest marker, and since the map is so devoid of information I don't have a clue where I'm going.

You sure there is no quest marker? If it is an actual quest you should see the yellow circle. I haven't gotten any so far that don't show it, even for areas I have yet to find. You may have to read a letter or book to get context and then it will show.

Also a heads up for everyone Make sure you put points into deception when you can. There was a quest I found (to unlock the master blacksmith at the town you meet up with triss at) that required deception level 2 to progress.

Uhmm... 16x af is still a significant performance hit. 8x will only be noticeable on the most distance of focal points, and this game does not have enough straight land for that.

Put in quite a few hours last night (strange sleep schedule so I was up since 2:30) and I am loving it so far.

A minor annoyance: loot seems to scale with your character, so even if you manage a high level area before you're supposed to, you're not getting a level 35 sword at 10. =( I confirmed this in a new game (maxed my level to 70 and found some incredible sword on a level 2 monster chest).

No but then all the swords you find are crap compared to the swords you get from the witcher school treasure hunts for the level they are used for. I just got the griffen armor and weapons and there is an upgrade quest that will make stronger versions that recommends level 30. The base sword is level 7 or 8 so. No idea what the upgraded version is like but lv30 recommendation seems high when the base is less than half that requirement. Also did part of the cat school item and upgrade hunt(higher level items than griffen) but I need to progress the story further to enter a cave blocked by an illusion.

I also managed to discover quests out of order I think. Stumbled on a cave with some guys hiding from a wyvern. Turns out there was a contract to find the guys and you can activate it either by discovering them or from the quest start location(but it recommends me to be above level 20 and I am 10). I kind of like that, so you don't run into people, items and locations randomly with no info. If they are part of a quest then you will get the quest by finding it.

I have spent more time treasure hunting and exploring than doing the main quests.

No it's not. Going all the way back to when I had a 7950 I had 16x AF enabled globally. It's free IQ these days.

I had come across something like that in Velen as well, not really spoilery but just in case
ran across a group of people, savaging corpses, the named npc had a quest to say to protect them, did so, but named npc died. little bit later found the brother of the named npc and asked to help. Mentioned to him that found them already but his brother died

Yeah I had a few "I already took care of that" discoveries as well.

Been testing the speed with latest patch, anyway I've now finally got the speed I like ie 60fps indoors and 45-50 fps outdoors on my 280x OC card with most settings on ultra@1080p,very easy to customise speed in this game.

Hmm after doing a quick test in gta 5 it looks like your right. I wonder if its a trait of modern 3d engines and maybe dx11 too? I've got older games that I play, like FF14 with its dx9 based Luminous Engine, that take a 10+ fps hit if I max the AF.
