The Witcher 2 HANDS DOWN THE BEST LOOKING GAME ON PC TO DATE!

I have a very high rig gaming system so i'm lucky enough to be able to max out all the graphics options the game has and as the title states, hands down this is the best looking game to date on the PC, previously i'd say Crysis 1 or STALKER using the Complete Mod but credit where it is due the Witcher 2 has to be the new benchmark in PC gaming.

The level of detail is nothing short of OUTSTANDING, seriously and the lighting effects just blow you away. Nothing comes close to this, as for the gameplay it just sucks you in, i've only played it for an hour but it feels like five minutes, quickest gaming hour in my life.

To date i'd go as far as saying this deserves game of the year or RPG of the year.

I'm in shock, i've just been admiring the detail of the environments, i take my hat of to the developers and i'd like to state that even though they are releasing this for Xbox 360 this game was clearly built for the PC from top to bottom, they didn't neglect PC gamers that made the first a sucess unlike Crytek (sorry had to add that).

You've played it for a whole hour and you think it should be the game of the year... and we're only in May.

There goes your credibility, right out the window.

I haven't played the game yet (I'm without a GPU right now 🙁 ) But judging from user screenshots and videos, you're right, it's probably the best-looking PC game to date. I heard on Ultra settings (with AA and AF cranked all the way up) it runs like a dog though. I'll have to see how well it runs on my Radeon 6950 1GB at 1680x1050. I'm way excited to play it.

RPG of the year is certainly possible, although it has Skyrim to compete with. I could never get into the Elder Scrolls games though...

Just out of curiosity, what system are you running it on and at what resolution? I played a little this morning before work. At 1900x1200, I was getting 30-40 fps on high with everything maxed except for "ubersampling".

Trust me it's going to be RPG of the Year or a bloody close 2nd! But i'm 100% sure it will be the best looking RPG of the year, i can't wait for Skyrim but i can't see it beating this graphics wise although obviously i hope i eat my words.

I'm running it on:

Windows 7
8gig Corsair Memory (high speed)
Radeon 6970 2048 Memory
Intel i7 - 2600K
X-fi sound Card HD
Playing on a Sony 40" LED at 1920 x 1080

Oh and i've got everything maxed out, all the settings and it runs fine considering how much is going on at once.

THIS GAME IS INSANE. Sorry won't be back to post for a while as i've got a new addiction!

Can't wait to see how it's gonna run on my moderate rig...after installing it at lunch time I set the settings to high and the view distance to far, ubersampling disabled...everything on enabled/high settings.

Can't wait to play this damn game!

This is going to rape my 4890, isn't it?

It's definitely putting a beatdown on my 4870. The auto-config spit out low but I bumped up to medium and... instant slide show. 🙁

Fortunately, I'm getting an Alienware M18X (with crossfire 2GB 6970s) whenever Dell decides to ship the damn thing. 😡

Eh... you should be able to run it fine on higher (but not highest) settings. Honestly, if you just bump down the AA along with a few other things, it's still a damn good looking game. Also, it depends on your resolution.

I think everyone is to busy playing it, cause the few forums I go too, there are no pics posted yet lol.

I can't wait to play it, it is like torture right now, I have it downloaded and ready to go, but I am replaying the first one currently for a save file and to remember everything since it has been awhile since I've played it.

I think ubersampling renders the same scene twice.

As you can imagine this totally destroys performance. I have it disabled and basically everything else set to ultra or high and it runs well even on my mid-range 5850.

Uhhh...who ever created this thread clearly has never played any other game. I have The Witcher 2, and I am rather disappointed with the graphics, not only are the animations sluggish, but the graphics them selves are nothing in comparison to other games. The engine really is not top of the line, so I'm not sure what the standards are for those who think this game is top notch.

I have a gtx 580, i5 2500k, 8gb ram, and i have this game running at 1080p ultra settings with ubersampling off. The game engine is not optimized as the game runs at 50fps, and drops significantly at times, i would imagine a 580 could run this at a smooth constant 60fps considering how the game looks.

Ubersampling kills it for me. Getting 10-15FPS with it enabled. Disabling puts the FPS at 30-40 at 1920x1080. However, there's extreme shimmering and crawling going on during motion without ubersampling enabled, screenshots can't show it, you just have to see it in motion. I will be playing without ubersampling (unless some miracle drivers show up), but the difference is huge in IQ imo. The screen is a lot more clearer with this option on (everything is less pixelated).

Game looks good, really. Texture quality is amazing, everything is so detailed! But the shadows look like sh!t... very "floaty". Wish the game engine was built using DX11 and not DX9. It would either make the game run a lot better with the same IQ or increase the quality quite a bit, especially the shadows...
