Are there ANY sites in English?
Once I figured out the buttons, it was an hour for the 2 downloads.
I downloaded the Enhanced version and the English language pack.

Instead of getting patches from the company website or file planet (oh god), you can download stuff at pirate speeds without having to register or wait in line.

Witcher's patch would be this one here

I bought The Witcher last year but when i found out about the censor shit i was so pissed that i could no longer play. Is there a fix that removes the censorship?

There is a mod that fixes this. Can't tell you exactly where, don't know. Maybe FilePlanet. About the only things censored were the conquest cards and a couple of female NPCs. So basically you get some cartoon boobs and a little more.

Honestly.. what dumbass in their right mind puts that much effort into making a game and puts zero effort into one of the most crucial parts of the game.. combat.

I have to 100% agree. I've never played The Witcher, but seeing this post I watched a few gameplay videos on Youtube. Wow! What a bore! The animations are unreal in how pathetic they are.

Watching the game and playing it are two different things,as to combat its not bad, infact there are a lot of RPGs that are worst,I like the tactical part ie using right type of weapon then different attack styles ie fast, group, hard hitting etc plus the magical aspect not to meantion the combo moves you can do,I even like the fist fights.

You want real bore try a typical RPG hack and slash game which this is not.

End of the day you can see why this game sold so well :).

The censored data was modded back in with a 3rd party patch.

You should have just bought the uncensored UK version from the get go, like everyone else. :p

OK,

here are my questions. Does this over write the "Enhanced version"

And, what does this do to the UK version?
Come to think of it, what does the enhanced version do to the UK version?

YES, I bought the import. Loved the game (Never finished it due to TIME) and now have an itch to play it. (How sad is that; in the SUMMER I have more PC time? /emote checks life.)

When I read the previews, I wanted the unratred version as I knew my character would be dark, it was a dark time, and one had to grab all that one could in that world.

The cursing, the semi nudity all added to the atmosphere. the first time I rescued the Dwarf weapon maker I was FLOORED by the conversation.

I liken it to the TV series "Sopranos". My wife would not watch it for the first two seasons for the language. I told here, honey, I know one or two guys in that lifestyle and TRUST me, those conversations do not go as follows:

Pardon me sir, but perchance, do you have the funds due to me today? See, I am in a bit of a spot right here and was really hoping you could pay me as that would enable me to pursue other interests.

Once she got past that, she was a rabid fan.

Anyway, please chime in, in fact any advice on what to load and in what order to load, please feel free.

I have the normal special edition UK version, basically I installed the free enhanced version download over the top then updated it to the 1.5 version(which removes DRM so no DVD needed while playing),the enhanced (polished)version is obviously how they wanted the game to be and you get the following.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition will be a completely polished product. A product that is rarely found on the PC market. Of course, it would be best if the premiere edition could look that way. For different reasons that was not achieved, now we're trying to make up for it. It should be easier for the fact that there aren't that many elements in the game which need improvement. Work is being done on two levels. One concerns the removal of technical obstacles that hinder the player from properly using the game and thus gaining enjoyment from it. By that I mean level loading times, which will be reduced by 80%, the stability of the game on different configurations, as well as a whole array of smaller fixes that will increase interactivity and precision in combat. The other level consists of very important changes that are not usually found in patches. First and foremost, the English language version will be, for the most part, completely re-done. The amount of text in that version was reduced compared to other language versions and that was said to cause a significant decrease in immersion and atmosphere. Now the English version will be as polished and atmospheric as the other language versions.

CD Projekt seems to know how a dev house/publisher should be run. Besides continually improving and responding to criticisms not for a sequel but for people with the original game, they also are the ones behind Good Old Games.

They're like the antithesis of EA.

A report a week in to 1.5 (Which includes enhanced).

MUCH MUCH more polished. We should sing their praise from the mountain tops!

Game was a tad clunky when I first played. Plus, I think I boinked my character.

(Anyone know of a good sight for character build?)

The dialogue (Both syntax and timing) is much better, the load times are GREATLY reduced and it has a solid feel. And to get 3 bonus missions to boot.

Dang, I almost want to send them 50 bucks just to say thanks.

I see some complaints about repetitive fight moves.

Baseball....... Its about the same basics OVER and over and over again.
Pitch. Hit. Field. And that is doing ok... Far better than Witcher (Number of people Wise)

We all live (game) for those "WOW" moments. Like I shared earlier, the first time I rescued the Dwarf weapon maker, I loved the darkness.

Last night, in town, I saw a guard peeing on a bush. I burst out laughing when I saw the yellow stream coming from his hips. I giggled for a long time when he "Shook and zipped".

MMA... Hey, its all about pummeling a guys face or body into unconsciousness or trying to get a submission.

That can get repetative too, no?

I just bought this game from BB due to an expiring rewards coupon. It is the enhanced version. Anything other than updating to Patch 1.5 I should know about? I don't know anything about the game. It seemed to score OK by the reviews and I just bought it out of the principle that I didn't want my rewards coupon to go unused.

Thanks

Director's cut patch downloaded fine, but the 1.5 patch leads me to a blank webpage...

I just got it too, and so far, it seems great. I got the 1.5 but didn't know anything about this Directors cut patch. I am not even 2 hours into the game, but so far, its pretty good. As much as I like DnD RPGs this is a nice change from Forgotten Realms.

I got both 1.5 and director's cut. The later I guess adds in the more mature stuff. It is different. I'm still getting used to the controls, I have been playing the D&D type RPGs, and this is quite a departure. I just got through the prologue. Apparently I missed some sidequests.

Thats where I am too, started chapter one in the first village or whatever. I don't think I did any sidequests either, just what it told me to. Oops?

Well I guess I won't be playing the damn game, I can't install EE, getting a bizarre error. The support page on their website suggests that I must uninstall .net framework 3.0SP1 which absolutely is not an option as I am currently developing software on that version of .NET. This is absolutely ridiculous, why would any modern game even be aware of my version of .NET? Crap like this is why PC gaming is dieing, it shouldn't be so bloody difficult to play a game. Not happy, I've had this game for months and never got to play it, there's always fucking something broken.

What the hell, why would their .NET 2.0 application not work in .NET 3.5? I read the page on their website and was baffled. That is like Java requiring a specific older version of the JRE to work.

It seems to be the updater that uses it, might you uninstall .NET and install the version it wants, then after the update, remove it and place your old version back?

This is what I'm thinking, I strongly doubt that the game itself cares about .NET so it's probably the patch installer. I'm re-downloading the EE patch just in case before I do anything drastic because I have a mountainous stack of Microsoft development software installed and I'm a bit concerned about what will happen if I uninstall and reinstall all of my .NET gear. I'm not really convinced that this game will be worth the effort to be quite honest.

And yeah, I'm absolutely baffled as to why something would work on .NET 3.0 and not .NET3.0SP1, if there's one company that excels at maintaining backwards compatibility it's Microsoft, often to a fault.

Good news, the new download worked! I guess it's not really fair for me to blame CDProjekt for my corrupt download :p I'm just glad I can play the game now, and without having to mess with my .NET stack.

Edit - maybe not. Intro played fine (very cool), then screen goes black with a mouse cursor and game menu never loads. There's always something with this game. Someone doesn't want me to ever play it.

Yeah...that's only gonna get worse.

They did a superb job creating this world. There's a lot they could do with future titles in this setting.

took me a couple hours to get used to switching sword modes. When the enemy parries your hits, its time to switch to a different sword mode! Also, left click spamming = you die, which is a departure from other RPGs (e.g. Diablo 2).
