08.07.2009, 14:38Comments: 51

We are happy to inform that latest patch version for The Witcher is now available to download!

Here are the features of patch 1.5:

Modifications:
- copy securities (DRM) are removed
- playing the game no longer requires the game disc in the drive
- patch solves problems with EAX and blurred graphics

Additionally:
- 5 bonus adventures made by the Witcher community: ?Deceits?, ?Blight of the Bogs?, ?Wraiths of Quiet Hamlet?, ?The Wedding?, ?Merry Witchmas?.

In order to install patch 1.5 correctly, original Witcher game upgraded to 1.4 (i.e. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition) should be installed.

You might also want to download the new game-difficulty modification, "Flash Mod", prepared by our community member Andrzej "Flash" Kwiatkowski. Now surivivng in the world of The Witcher will be much more challenging than ever before!

Hmm, I grabbed this but Windows 7 keeps blocking Tages driver on startup. I guess it doesn't really matter since the DRM is disabled (I think) but it's puzzling nonetheless.

There was no dialogue sound on the wedding adventure.

I greatly respect CDProjekt for continuing to improve on the game with no additional cost. I wish other companies would follow suit.

I would gladly play this game and probably love it. But i cannot force myself to stand there and watch the same combat animation over and over and over and over again.

Honestly.. what dumbass in their right mind puts that much effort into making a game and puts zero effort into one of the most crucial parts of the game.. combat.

For a game of this type and caliber, what kind of combat were you expecting? I think the whole game strikes a perfect balance between gameplay and storyline, which is a very topical subject nowadays ;).

The Witcher has the storyline and lore of older DnD games (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights), but still provides the stylized combat similar to more modern games (Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia). What more could you want? Seems like a perfect RPG game to me...

The internet is the home of the eternal whiner, what do you expect? The witcher developer is rivaled only by Valve in terms of the amount of free content/support for their games and the quality of their rpgs are awesome, especially compared to the dropping quality coming out of Obsidian and Bioware lately.

If you played a standard RPG, i.e. Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc. you aren't even involved in combat, just the strategy of how the combat might play out.

You are much more involved in combat with Witcher and it might be repetitive but it is still enjoyable. Even a similar styled game like Fable has comparable combat metrics.

The patch focuses mainly on removing troublesome DRM, allowing you to play the game without the disc, while providing additional hours of fun thanks to new adventures created by the fan community.

Wow, not even a disc check! I've been playing this way for awhile now, as I do with all other single player games, but it's nice to have it officially supported to be sure. Good game CDProjekt!

Replaying the game with 1.5 patch installed, no issues so far the game is rock stable, infact this time round Witcher seems more enjoyable due to game patches and my hardware(4870 card rather then my old 7800GT).

I consider that pretty small in this day and age. To bring Medal of Honor Airborne to version 1.3, I have a RAR file weighing in at 2.34 GB. That?s a big patch. ;)

Anyway, kudos to the Witcher?s developers for removing the DRM and including community content.

WOW

OK,

here are my questions. Does this over write the "Enhanced version"

And, what does this do to the UK version?
Come to think of it, what does the enhanced version do to the UK version?

YES, I bought the import. Loved the game (Never finished it due to TIME) and now have an itch to play it. (How sad is that; in the SUMMER I have more PC time? /emote checks life.)

When I read the previews, I wanted the unratred version as I knew my character would be dark, it was a dark time, and one had to grab all that one could in that world.

The cursing, the semi nudity all added to the atmosphere. the first time I rescued the Dwarf weapon maker I was FLOORED by the conversation.

I liken it to the TV series "Sopranos". My wife would not watch it for the first two seasons for the language. I told here, honey, I know one or two guys in that lifestyle and TRUST me, those conversations do not go as follows:

Pardon me sir, but perchance, do you have the funds due to me today? See, I am in a bit of a spot right here and was really hoping you could pay me as that would enable me to pursue other interests.

Once she got past that, she was a rabid fan.

Anyway, please chime in, in fact any advice on what to load and in what order to load, please feel free.

The 1.5 patch requires the Enhanced Edition to be installed, not sure about it being the UK version. I would just use the update button that is on the game launcher, it leads you to a website telling you what you need.

Next up: Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut. This "patch" is the definitive edition which restores the nudity present in the European version.

After that I assume we'll get the Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut Extended Edition Vol 1 which will feature additional alternate endings.

Then Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut Extended Edition Vol 2 which will no doubt allow you to alter musical score.

Finally they will release the Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut Extended Edition Uncut Final Unrated Version Final For Realzies Yo.

Talk about going above and beyond. Heck, I might go grab a 2nd copy just to support their endeavors.

I hope Rise of the White Wolf isn't gone forever. But for the Enhanced edition, anyone know if you need to install under Win 7 with compatibility mode so Tages doesn't complain?
