I hate this band precisely because of that song. Absolutely terrible and not worthy of any radio play whatsoever.

I loved all their material really, old and new. Except for their first 'big' album, "Fell in Love with a Girl" and "Hotel Yorba" just never made me want to listen to it much.

And I like Meg personally. I'm no drumming expert by any measure, but I felt like she was the right fit for the band and the style. And to this day I find myself singing along to "Cold Cold Night" in my head, which she was fantastic on.

she had the raw talent of a 6 year old playing drums on rock band.

And? It worked. That was all that was needed. Put Neil Peart in there and sure you can have an amazing drum solo or unheard of time signature, but it would serve no purpose and be entirely out of place. You can have all the raw talent in the world but if you don't fit it doesn't do anybody any good.

That's probably because she picked up the "talent" on a whim after they were married and he somehow fit her in his little act.

Not much of a band. Two people and one had all the talent. I'm sure whatever Jack White does from now on it will sound like White Stripes with better drums.

Agreed. I always liked his guitar playing and vocals/lyrics. He's definitely talented.

First the Brazilian Girls, now the White Stripes.
Well, I enjoyed their stuff. Call me hipster or whatever, I don't care.. I really enjoyed it on my own volition. I always thought Jack White was more of an experimenter of stuff, and this was one of them; I really liked it.

I would get divorced too if I accidently married my sister
Wikipedia said:
During the early phase of their career, Jack and Meg White provided various descriptions of their relationship. In many early interviews, Jack claimed that he and Meg were siblings[20]; this claim was widely believed and repeated despite rumors that they were, or had been, husband and wife.[21] [22] In 2001, proof of their 1996 marriage emerged, [23] [24] yet they continued to insist publicly that they were brother and sister. The couple were divorced in March 2000 just before the band gained widespread attention.[4][25] In a 2005 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Jack White claimed that this open secret was intended to keep the focus on the music rather than the couple's relationship:
When you see a band that is two pieces, husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, you think, "Oh, I see..." When they're brother and sister, you go, "Oh, that's interesting." You care more about the music, not the relationship—whether they're trying to save their relationship by being in a band.
There is ample reason for confusion.

So instead of the people just thinking that they are married, they would rather them think that they are married siblings. Ya, that draws a lot less attention.

Holy crap Icky Thump came out four years ago already? Man, doesn't feel like it.

I've heard of the White Stipes, but never heard their music (that I know of). I watched the Icky Thump music video, and I have to agree with most here that the drumming is really not at a professional level. This song sounds more like a mix tape that a bunch of high school freshmen put together.

It's like Abraham and Sarah or Isaac and Rebekah, nothing new under the sun!

The music was great but what the hell is she doing still singing?

This. Either it's a generational thing, or that old gal is way past her prime. Regardless... as much as I was trying to enjoy the music, I had to turn it off cause of her singing.

I never cared for them. What I heard of them (strictly on the radio) sounded to me like "let's sing a bunch of half-incoherent stuff, strum a few chords, and bang on a couple of drums and see if it catches on!" Sort of like BYOB by System of a Down (I like some of their earlier stuff, absolutely hate that song).

You are truly ignorant of music if you don't know who Wanda Jackson is.

I know who Wanda Jackson is....I'm saying that someone that was Elvis's sex toy in the 1950's really shouldn't be out touring like that :D I'm not kidding when I say she's got to be in her 80's!
