For all the fellas out there with ladies to impress
it's easy to do, just follow these steps

step 1) cut a hole in a box
step 2) put your junk in that box
step 3) make her open that box

That's the way you do it.

Mom:
Foot bath.

Trollops at Hooters:
Those stupid little santa hats. Walmart has them for 2 bucks each. They fall apart quickly but will only be needed for a couple weeks.

Sandwich maker
Mormon?
boots, cookie sheets, Christmas ornament, wifi thermostat... I already bought her a house this year.
Heh, couple of years ago she wanted practical stuff. Told her she'd better give me a list (and she finally did) and not "You should know what I like." She got a mailbox, an indoor/outdoor thermometer and a new set of steak knives.

This year....noise cancelling headphones (recommendations?) and gas logs. Going to be $1k to run the gas line.:(

Her birthday is on the 5th, so December is a tough month with back-to-back presents. For her birthday I took her to the Capital Grille, and for Christmas I'm getting her a picture collage with hand-selected pictures, along with some other "practical" stuff.

considering different books of the bible disagree when that was, and "december 25th" wasnt 'nailed down' (for lack of a better term) until the Roman empire... to be upset over this seems quite silly.

The date is irrelevant, my issue is with those usurping the name. If you're afraid to say the word, or the concept of Christ makes you squirm, then don't join in the fun. Changing the name to make it palatable to the politically correct crowd is simply pandering to the thought control mentality. The only appropriate answer (while not a Christian one) is to tell them to fuck off.

I typically steer clear of clothing unless it's socks or something you can't screw up the size or fit on. So get some comfy socks as a starter gift....

You could always hit up Victoria Secret and get some unmentionables.

Jewelry is good. You can't go wrong with diamon studs. Large gift, 1/2 carot t.w. studs retail for whatever....most places will sell you the set for $1500...you can probably get a decent set for $800-1000 if you don't mind some inclusions...but look for clear/white color to offset the inclusions....come on, they're earrings. I try to buy REAL diamonds from smaller outfits as the stuff in the major Jared/Zales/Kay Jewelers lines are always average or below for full price or higher.

You can also check out your local Zales Ava collection if you want to spend less. They sell CZ stones in 14k gold and are a great value for CZ hoops that look good. They sell out very fast, so keep checking back and ask what they have in the back if you don't see something you like....expect to pay $40/set *on sale. $80 is typically the advertised price.

Adorama had a huge sale on Pogoplug devices last week. All their prices are back up a bit, except this one: http://www.adorama.com/COCPOGOV4A1.html @ $16

It's a device that allows you to share USB devices to the internet or network. This series 4 unit can allow you/her to save pictures from iPhone/Android straight to a hard drive on your network. Great if she's a iPhone photographer or (like my wife) keeps running out of space on her iPhone and doesn't plug it into a PC or Macbook to offload the data.

If she's into wine, get a new set of Reidel wine glasses. I've got a set for Whites, and Pinot Niors.... I'll occasionally serve reds in the glasses for whites and can't tell the difference. They're a good all around glass and can be found at Macy's or Target in a pinch.

the sillyness i'm referring to, is assuming people mean christmas when talking about the "holidays" ... notice the S... indicating plural...
lol

Holidays means Holy Days and refers to the celebration of Christmas until the Epiphany otherwise known as the 12 days of Christmas.

Sorry to burst your PC bubble but that is what holidays refers to here in North America.

My wife and I keep a wish list on Amazon, anytime we find something interesting whether it's practical or even, affordable we put it on the list. If she likes crafts, you can never go wrong with tools or supplies.

my gf complains my wishlist is not things she can actually get me, i am confused.

her wishlist is mostly stuff she wants but is too cheap to buy herself, which makes gift shopping easy. i can ALWAYS find something on that list thats affordable for a birthday or holiday or just if i want to do something for her.

i got her some nice boots for rainy days (she is a bit outdoorsy), some oakley sunglasses, hair sticks, and couple other little stocking stuffers

i basically start looking for gifts in the summer when we travel but a couple things were deals online

I'll probably end up getting "her" a his&her massage package.

Last year she worked through Christmas and mid January finished a 2 month stint of averaging 6 days/week at 80 hours/week. The couples massage package ended up great. We'll probably do it again. It's the best gift, because it's one for myself, too!

We like to travel so we put the money we would spend on gifts towards that instead and we've got a busy year lined up

This year....noise cancelling headphones (recommendations?)

While not unique in terms of sound quality I have heard Bose has one of if not the best active noise cancelling technology

OP you forgot about the debate about Christmas! But its ok, they made sure to provide that as well.

Also, um, has anyone looked into your post history to try to claim that your SO other is a paid for bride or something?

How very Christian of you.

The name is irrelevant, modern Christmas is about much more than Jesus. Don't co-opt and usurp traditions of others if you don't want people to usurp your holiday.

Also, its Xmas, so fuck off.

Yeah, she liked those but at $270....

Bose really is just better if you need the noise cancellation.

These are supposedly pretty decent though: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica.../dp/B002HWJT1A

Sound isolation might be good enough, but not sure what to recommend there. Some IEMs with triple flange tips are supposedly good for isolation. And there's tips like Complys and other foam tips that are pretty decent for isolation but more comfortable than the silicon ones usually, so just pair them with some decent IEMs.
