My fellow Cake Lovers,

For too long we have remained on the Defensive against the Cabal of Pie Lovers who fanatically insist that our precious Cheese Cake(it's right there in the name! :colbert: )is Pie. Friends, they are a lost cause and merely a handful of loud rabble rousers and of no consequence to our cause.

There is, however, a much more insidious enemy that we have overlooked, the Bread Consortium. "Banana Bread", really? "Zucchini Bread", is that so? No friends, CAKE! I suppose loving the greatest culinary delight known to History has made us soft and willing to let others partake of it in the way they prefer, but this must end today! If we continue to allow such misguided Groups and Individuals to nibble at the edges of Cakedom and steal away what is Rightfully Ours, can Cake possibly survive?

No friends, we must not continue to let these Conspirators undermine the Glorious Cake! To the Offense we must go! Join with me and let us beat back the march of the Barbarians!

You just went banana over breads, they're not cakes, and shut your pie-hole.

I never got the cheesecakepie controversy.

it seems simple to me and depends on how it's cooked.

does it have a crust? if so, it's a pie.
is it a free-standing cheesecake? if so, it's a cake.

Cake is wonderful...if it's the right kind...and if it's made right.

I love me some GOOD carrot cake. Gotta have walnuts and coconut in it though...

My wife makes a fabulous applesauce cake. It's a recipe she invented for her dad when she was in baking school. It was one of her semester final projects, she got the best score in the class, and the instructor tried to pressure her for the recipe.
She gives that to no one.
Good moist, dense cake. Holds up well in a lunch box, (one of the design criteria) and is best with just a bit of powdered sugar sprinkled on top...no frosting.

Welcome brave brother. Such fine tales of excellence are common amongst Cake Lovers and the reason why this Fight is oh so necessary.

I'm actually bi-dessert. I also loves me some good pie as well as cobbler...

I am a "Desserter."

I think we've all Experimented from time to time, especially in College. Cakedom asks not that one only prefer Cake, it merely asks to be recognized as Cake. Truly there is no more tolerant and loving of peoples as Cake Lovers!

With my recent makings of Blueberry Pie, Super Apple Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie and Shoo-fly Pie, I'll side with pie. Thanks Alton Brown...

Pie just can't compete with cake all of the different varieties and flavors. German Chocolate Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Carrot Cake, Spice Cake, the list just goes on and on. You don't see anybody having a pie to celebrate their birthday do you? No, it's ALWAYS cake! And that is as it should be.

Why does pie need to compete with cake? Plus your all wrong there are just as many different varieties of pie as there is cake. You've just been brainwashed over the years into believing that cake should be in all of these places by the Empire of Cake.

I guess I stand alone with preferring a nice flatbread over any pie or cake.

I've only had light, fluffy cheesecake once, many years ago. Every other time it has been dense yet delicious cheesepie. I conclude that the cake variety has become extinct with only the cheesepie species surviving in the wild.

RIP cheesecake, if only our politicians had protected this endangered species while there still was a chance to save it.
