It's in my list of shows that I watch, but will probably be removed and changed out for something else.

I'd like to see the story go somewhere. If the story is just them living, then that's a *big yawn* from me. Maybe a little more why, who, what, when, where would be nice.

this doesn't even make sense. what do you mean more why who what when where????

it's a show about surviving a zombie apocalypse. if you change that then it's no longer a show about surviving the zombie apocalypse...

Why would the story change? It's about surviving the zombie apocalypse. What would you like it to change into?

Survive until a short life and death.

Everyday one has to smell dead rotting bodies and fight off humans and Zombies or both. Basically, you live one more day in misery until you die. No hope no cure nothing to look forward to except to live one more day.

Sad, depressing and utter hopelessness.

I know this show is REALLY just about this group surviving in the woods for as long as they can but it will (if it hasn't already over and over again) get really boring. Its almost like a reality TV show at this point... who will survive to the next checkpoint? The zombies are just thrown in for atmospheric effect.

Where did this start exactly? Why did it start? Are there actual strongholds larger then small villages? Is it worldwide? What is being done to combat it? The episodes I was most interested in were the CDC episodes where some actual 'science' was discussed (even though its completely made up). That is more interesting to me then seeing how long these people can walk in the woods and fight other groups of people doing the same.

Not really. It's a show about a group (too large of a group BTW) of people living in a world with Zombies. Where did the zombies come from, why did this happen, did someone unleash something that caused this. The show has no other point than add people, subtract people, add people, subtract people. We are at a point there is too many people so I expect lots of subtracting going on over the remainder of the season.

They continue to kill off the wrong characters. I remember way back in s02? where they were at the CDC lab? and the scientist whispered into Riiick's ear and thought "Here we go! Something is going to happen!" Nothing happened. More of the same.

And Carl continues to live. That's another problem. And the baby, ugh.

If a group has survived as long as our group has they gotta messed up.

define "messed up"

I agree that anyone that has survived this long has to be messed up in some way, but do you mean evil?

Is Rick's group messed up? Yes, they have seen/experienced and done things that are horrible.
But are they evil/bad? I would say no. They try to do the right thing as much as they can. Do they kill other people? Yes, but its 99.9% self defense. They aren't going around and killing people for the fun of it or to take their stuff.
Are they messed up? Yes, they have seen/experienced and done things that are horrible.

So you can't say that every group that has survived this long is bad/evil unless you can say that Rick's group is the same. There has to be other groups out there that still try to do the right thing? if not, why is Rick's group special in that regard?

thats not the point of the show though. it's focused on this 1 small group of survivors. How would they know how it started, where it started, is it worldwide? You would have to change the whole dynamic of the show to do that.

Or they could just run into people with more information than they have. I mean in the real world, it's probably unlikely that this would happen, but in the real world there isn't zombies either.

On the BS Report this week, Bill Simmons was talking to TV critic Andy Greenwald. Apparently the rumor is that the Walking Dead spinoff show will be based in southern California, and will provide more detailed information about where and how the outbreak began, as well as showing its spread from the start.

Maybe not "better" but the plot at least has gone somewhere. Actually comparing FS and TWD is appropriate. One show is about the survival of the human race while the underlying plot drives the story of these people's survival. The other show is about the survival of the human race while the underlying plot IS the story of these people's survival.

Again, this is all just my opinion, I just share it.

Falling Skies is at the other end of the spectrum. In Walking Dead nothing really changes, but in Falling Skies things change way too quickly. Episode ends with them being in ambush in the middle of space. Next episode they are walking around like nothing happened, but then a new alien race is around, and apparently new allies. Next episode, they are not allies. Next episode, the aliens you thought were the enemy were a rebel faction thats actually on your side.

I think they only reason I watch is that its been queue up since the beginning and I can be bothered to remove it. Plus, there is always one time during the year where there is nothing to watch and I watch this.

Production and post have 1/3 less money per ep than first season.
The first season only had 6 episodes. The second season went to 13, and seasons 3 onward now have 16 episodes. Typical American seasons are 13-22 episodes as a good compromise between costs, time needed for filming and amount of content produced.

Yeah, I was about to post this stuff, too, but I think it has all been confirmed, not just rumors. One actual rumor is that the actor who played the CDC doctor in season 1 will have a part in the spin off.

Yeah, at the very least I'd be interested in new group with some more details. I'm just getting tired of the current one, I don't see where it can go besides a rehash of whats already happened in the 4 seasons. Like, who gives a **** about Tyrese and his story? Carl and the daughter? Carrol? Give me a break.. its all so tired now.

This episode just really started the second half of the season on a bad note for me.

I will just go ahead and assume now that that this storyline was dreamed up by lazy Hollywood writers who have decided that the infection started with illegal Chinese (maybe North Koreans, maybe) immigrants who were smuggled into the country en masse on large cargo ship and started the infection there. That way they have their little anti-communist trope and can villify foreigners as being harbringers of all manner of deadly disease into otherwise pristine California.

Anyone want to take bets?

This show seemed totally different than all the rest with all the cheesy camera work/editing etc.

Yes, it's like they decided to go all "artsy", with flash back/forwards, scene editing, sunsets, radio voices and so forth. Personally, I thought that sucked. Hopefully the rest of the shows this season aren't that way.

It isn't that difficult. The show is still going strong and people keep watching is because they actually like it!

Exactly. There might be things I dislike from episode to episode, but overall the show is still worth watching for me. If it stops being fun to watch, I'll just stop watching it and move onto something else.

I kind of liked it. Basically it goes back to what Tyrese told us about his father. His father said that you have to listen to the news and understand what is going on around you. That this was the price of being alive. Tyrese even mentioned that he often never understood the stories. The radio was telling us of all the things going on with the zombie apocalypse and telling us what this new world was all about. Basically Tyrese was not listening and didn't understand the world he is living in. He wasn't paying the price. The Governor kind of drives this home when he says "you said you would do anything". By not understanding he lost his life.

But yes maybe this is too high brow for the audience. A small group appreciates this kind of thing. I think the majority want the action/horror and couldn't care less about the story telling.

Nope...Mexicans😛

Seriously though, I highly doubt they will play on any illegal alien undocumented immigrant angle, that wouldn't be PC/liberal enough for Hollywood. Considering the current climate, I would be betting on a military experiment/testing gone bad type thing along the lines of The Stand. Considering that "everyone" is infected already it has to be some higher level thing than just some smuggling of people...

I thought about that, but then I thought there was a high likelihood that several of the Hollywood writers are probably of Mexican descent, so I'm guessing they won't pin it on themselves. 😀

If that's the case, I'll definitely want to watch that. Seems interesting, and there are so many avenues to make compelling episodes based on that.

Perhaps you're right, but I do consider myself interested in the story and so forth, but found that episode completely boring and uninteresting. There wasn't really a continuation of the plot, just delving deeper into the story of one guy in the process of dying. Just not compelling IMO, but I have no idea how others feel about it.

I'm going with a different idea. I think this is something that is genetic in all people but has been dormant. Somehow either intentionally or accidentally something flipped the switch and this became active. That would explain why ALL people are affected by this. I'm sure it will be something else entirely, but that's my theory (I know it doesn't fit the scientific definition ... don't flame me) and I'm sticking to it!

I think a lot of the hate on this episode comes from the gap of time from the last episode. I think if this one played the week after the last one we would be ok with it.

For us it has been weeks, but to the characters it was probably only a couple of days after Beth was killed. they regrouped after Beth died at the hospital. All of them were there and they then decide to do the last thing Beth would have wanted them to do, go see if they could help Noah find his family.

The way they jumped into the episode I think messed everyone up. They showed them burying someone. Maybe several thought that it was Beth they were burying and not a flashback.

I did think it was a waste of a character. That was no way for Tyrese to go out.

As long as Maggie is still alive I will watch. <3 Maggie

Agreed, however if I were Maggie I would take Glen and go off on my own. Thanks Rick, now by brother, mother, father, friends and now sister have all been killed. Thanks a lot buddy!
