The very first real news to come shortly after 5 pm.

I lost the linky but the major networks, cable networks and organizations like the A.P. have been locked in a room together since 11am. Into that room comes all the info and is shared equally.
At 5 pm they get to communicate outside for the first time.
The info they are getting is estimates of turnout in key districts, exit polling, etc. So expect at least something shortly after 5pm.

Um, no. There has never been any meaningful news about results prior to the first polls closing.

By agreement there are certain things they can't reveal until the polls close, but there is some news they can.
One thing they will report is the turnout. Although in battleground states I think everyone knows it will be high this year.

The information they release just after 5 tends to be sketchy and unreliable at best. The polls are still open and there can be major shifts in voting patters between earlier in the day and later etc. Basically,t's just not reliable enough to bother unless you're a real political junkie and want any info you can get.

The only way it can be significant is if the numbers indicate a *major* unexpected underlying shift of some sort.

So, which channel is Carville going to be on tonight. I hope that it's close and I get to see him sweat. I remember when Gore lost and he got physically ill on MSNBC (or whatever channel he was on). I laughed my ass off that night.

yea I think Kerry won '04 according to this data

I bet Obama will be well ahead at 5pm, and will fall off late.

People who don't work vote Obama, people who do work will vote for someone else.

Fox News has already called it for Obama: They called the stock market rise as being only due to the election finally giving us "certainty", saying, "we shouldn't read anything into it."

- No bloviating on how it proves that Democratic policies are anti-business and bad for the economy.
- No unchecked claim that this somehow a clear mandate for the victor's economic polices.

It's over for Romney.

That site isn't biased, not at all

lol, they specifically state that they received some notes from a GOP source and they posted the statement from the source. Whether you want to believe the source is up to you. They didn't cite their opinion, so I'm not sure why you're crying about bias.

The only indications I have as I voted after 4 PM id that voting turn out is above normal.

Otherwise we should know by mid-night unless voter suppression laws toss some states into court challenges.

But cheer up, November 7, 2012 is the official kick off date for their political campaigns to be held in 11/2014 and 11/2016. There is no rest for the wicked.

He will always be on CNN. Should be fun to watch everyone sweat tonight.

"GOP source" - Yea this guy ain't biased

You do realize every single Republican surrogate has been going on television proclaiming that Romney will win 300+ EV's and that all polling data is faulty and incorrect right?
