That is pure Bullsh*t!

Millions upon millions have emigrated to the US to rise from the poor and oppressed.

Both sides of my family started with zilch when they came to America.

There are poor in America, but they dont have to stay that way if want to work for a better tommorow.

As did mine to Canada. And when they arrived, there was no slavery if you were black and the army wasn't out killing off "Indians". Since the principles of freedom were already wide spread in the 19th century, largely due to British and Scottish writers, Canada was actually more "free" than the US throughout its entire history. We just don't spend so much time talking about it, we live it.

Oh yea i don't think gave my opinion about the US, i do believe its a one of the greatest place to live, the reason for that i guess is it gives people opportunity to succeed. Not everyone may succeed but there's a chance to. Also freedom of press is kinda cool, even though there are a few coverups here and there, people can voice their opinions to people like in this forum. Granted somethings are hush hush and can't be said, but thats needed it for your or someone elses safety.

As was every other nation on Earth, so what else is new?

After 200 + years it has not achieved gender equality in the workplace.
We've been trying for this for 200 years? Try more like 30 years...

After 200 + years it has not achieved racial equality, anywhere.
Ditto...

There is not national healthcare.
Where is it written that everyone is "entitled" to national healthcare? It isn't something everyone should get automaticlly.

Is having a big military really good?
Yes... Why? Who really calls the shots in the world today? Who has the largest military in the Middle East? (hint: it isn't anyone who actually lives in the Middle East)

A military should be used to defend YOUR country, and occasionally assisting when others are being oppressed. Tax money has to pay for the BIG military, but the US borders have not really been in jeopardy since the English invaded for tax money.
Wrong, our borders are in jeopardy right now. A little event that occoured on 9/11/01 showed that we're under attack right now.

Besides, a good offense is usually the best defense. Holding our borders is not enough, we have to take the fight to the evil doers.

Are we the "greatest country in the world"? That depends on your definition of "greatest". I think so, but other nations like Great Britian, Canada, Germany, Spain, etc. have a lot going for them too.

What does that have to do being a WASP? Were you only referring to history or of recent times?
As far as living it, my ancestors all enjoyed freedom when they emigrated to the US. Those of that are still alive continue to enjoy it.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

what a meaningless moronic list of stupid reasons why the US is great

-We can have guns and lots of em'
so we can kill each other at the drop of a hat
-We accept you poor hungery needy from anywhere
wait, didn't we stop doing that about 50 years ago? Don't we kick people out now?
-We can eat anytype of food and buy anything in every major city
Yes, we can buy anything. . . except cuban cigars and medical marijuana in most states. But damn, we sure can buy those guns.
-You can do any trade anytime you want
???? No you can't. I can never buy anything from cuba or iraq. Hell, in PA I can't even buy alcohol from NJ and drive it into the state
-we have the best universties and scienists in the world.
Yes we do. Except for Oxford, Cambridge, IIT, etc.
-We have the best medical care (if you can afford the mayo clinic)
Great. If you're rich we can keep you alive with cancer till you're 90. But if you're homeless you'll probably die from dysentery.

BS, My grandfather use to own a cabin up in Ontario, all he would ever do is complain about the Canadian goverment and all the power they have over individuals rights. By the way, what percent of your income do you pay in federal taxes??😉

Now, who's bsing who? In some respects, American's don't have the same rights in Canada as Canadians.

By the way, what percent of your income do you pay in federal taxes??😉

I don't know, around 25 percent as I recall.

Actually Canada has always had the enviable position of having it's defense taken care of by the Worlds Super Powers. One would think that since they didn't have to foot the bill for their own security that they would be able to fund a great number of Socially Progressive Programs that would have made them one of the Intellectual and Cultural Centers of the West. Well they are the Hockey Icon of the world.

Maybe if we eliminated affirmative action, women would open the doors for us men, go dutch on dates, register for selective services, leave the toilet seat up occasionally, and tell us that our jeans did not make us look fat...

The sooner you stop seeing black or white, male or female....the sooner we can all be equal.

Canadian income tax tables. Anyone paying "around 25 percent" isn't doing too well......

Anyone making over $86,000 (Canadian dollars) in British Columbia (where Hagbard lives) can also count on tacking on an additional 14.7% in provincial income tax. Basically, anyone earning the equivalent of $60,000 USD in BC can look forward to having more than half of their income taken in income taxes alone.

Let's not forget about sales taxes hovering around 15% or property taxes.

BTW Hagturd, what do you think about this latest erosion of your rights?.

Hey, in most polls and the UN says we're number one. We are the cultural centre, we're just not obvious about it.

Lots of deductions. You have to know how to "play the game". BTW, our household income is just under $100k a year.

Let's not forget about sales taxes hovering around 15% or property taxes.

Depends on the province. Alberta has no sales tax, so its just the 7% GST.

Compared with the Patriot Acts I &II? Homeland Security? No problem. Besides, it a bill, most don't pass anyway. Maybe we can continue this discussion when you reach high school.

So, you've got $71,000 in deductions?

You never addressed Etech's post regarding this assault against the free speech rights of a Canadian human rights activist.

I don't think....

Yeah, tell me something I don't already know.

Maybe we can continue this discussion when you reach high school.

LOL, a high school punk and his high school insults, you wound me, really.

, I don't think we need to debate the issue of Canada being a better nation then the USA, it's common knowledge that it's not.

Don't want to benefit, would like to honor your request is all.

Why should we pay to get you out of the US? Since you're in the US, you can easily earn enough money to get out.

You missed the 50% taxation part huh.
rolleye.gif

I can get a job but more than 50% will be deposited back into the country that I am trying to escape from. With donation I don't have to take a job from an USA lover and I get to leave fast. ROTFLMAORH

50% taxation isn't exclusive to the USA. Norway, for example, is another country that has that much tax.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't pay a dime for Katka's get outta dodge fund. I find it gratifying that she is too poor to afford a one way plane ticket to anywhere. Nope, I'm happy she suffers the indignity of being stuck right here.
