The US planned a war against UK in the 1930s

Also, some northern parts of the US call them tuques as well, and not ANY hat is a tuque only a brimless hat iirc.

Previously unparalleled troop movements were launched as an overture to an invasion of Canada, which was to include massive bombing raids on key industrial targets and the use of chemical weapons, the latter signed off at the highest level by none other than the legendary General Douglas MacArthur.

Sounds like a plan to get the White House burned down a 3rd time.

I really don't see why we HAVEN'T attacked Canada, i mean there isn't really a reason it is a separate country, and Mexico too for that matter.
Um, the U.S. military did try to attack Canada and did attack Mexico in the War of 1812 and the Mex-Am War, respectively.

I've always been pissed that we've been Allied with the British as the Federalists proposed as opposed to the French as the Old Republicans proposed.

It would've been less poisonous to attack the U.K. than what we actually did in the 40s although neutrality would've been best.

I think the plans were probably there because the UK was going to attack us if FDR didn't give them aid to battle an enemy they created (for the latter part of that sentence sentence, the reference is Patrick J Buchanan's Churchill, Hitler, and an Unnecessary War).

I am fairly certain we have war plans for just about any country on earth right now. It makes for practice and thought exercise for those entering the war planning, logistics, and associated departments.

Besides, its not it would have been the first time we went to war with England/U.K.

Every major country has a plan/theory of attack or defense from another major country. Won't be surprised if both Mexico and Canada has one against US. Just in theory. RAND corporation has many interesting jobs to fill! 🙂

SlithereyDee had it right (above) when he posted "There's a difference between "We plan to attack country X" and " We have a plan of attack for country X"."

Great Britain of that time was in no condition to attack (especially) the US. Except for the largest battleship navy in the world they were suffering from the economic depression just like the US was. Attacking the US while being at war with Hilter's Third Reich would have been absolute suicide for the UK. They would have been fighting on two fronts, sandwitched between hostile US and German forces just as Germany was against the Allies during WW II.

Not sure where you talking about here (didn't mention France, Iceland, etc.) or where your train-of-thought is taking you but ...

If these "plans" had actually been carried out (which is nonsense) then Great Britain, then at war with Nazi Germany would have found itself fighting on two fronts (soon to be three (Japan in the far east)). While the US would not want to ally itself with Hitler there is an old saying: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".

Countries develop plans for just about any situation, I'm sure that Canada has a plan about how to defend against a US invasion and vice versa.

Defend? Lol, every Winter we have an operation called Operation Encircle. We're way ahead of you guys on this.

I wonder if we have any serious plans for defending against different types of alien invasions. (Note: I am not a UFO nut)

Unless the gov has some sooper seecrit specific tactical info on potential alien threats, I imagine they would probably fall under defense plans already in place.

i think the proposed 50's merger between england and france was much funnier

france: hey england, let's merge our way out of this depression!
england: what? no!
france: fine, we surrender! it's all yours, long live the queen!
england: go away

What the Canadians don't realize is that we are slowly but surely breeding them out of existence.

Keep sleeping with those Canadians folks. They're great in bed.
