The upside of moving back into your parents' basement

Honestly I wouldn't mind moving back to my parent's basement for a year if it meant getting rid of this debt but my wife will have none of that even though she's unemployed at the moment.

This.

My parents, in No.Cal., have a garage, but it is full of crap.

They have never parked a car in there.

(They also live 400+ miles away.)

I moved back into my parents house for like 6 months (started a new job on the other end of the state, lease in my old apartment was up, I hadn't found a new place by the new job yet, and I wanted to be able to take my time in looking without rushing into the first place I found)... it had its upsides but it got old pretty fast and I must've gained like eight thousand pounds because my parents keep so much shit in their house.

So judgmental! I wonder what kind of fucked up demons some of you have living inside of you?

Some people should be so lucky to have parents loving enough to take them and their S.O. in under hard times.

one of my daughters friends has a garage like that... but the weird part is, she lives with her mom (and her moms boyfriend) and 3 siblings in a 3 bedroom house, the garage looks like that and her ex husband and his dad live in the garage. was the weirdest visit i can remember.

at this stage of my life, i doubt i could handle moving to my parents house. with 3 kids in tow it would be difficult on them as well.

Husband and wife are working at a fast food restaurant and are hard up because of this!?

I like that he originally reported it himself. It's like he's advertising the fact that he's a giant failure.

The general consensus in past threads here is that if you haven't moved out 18 years to the second after you left the womb, there's something wrong with you. But it's much more efficient (financially and otherwise) to have more people under one roof, and there is nothing wrong with giving yourself a financial advantage when you're young and getting started.

My parents live in a 1000 ft2 condo, so I don't think my wife, son and I would be too welcome. It is more likely that they will end up coming to live with me.

I moved back in with my parents from 25-27 when I took a job in the area. Worked out fairly well. I couldn't see myself doing that now that I'm married, although we do stay there over holidays.

Actually, my wife and two kids moved into my in-laws' house two summers ago after we sold our old house and were remodeling our new house.

It was kinda fun at the start, but, after a little while, it became uncomfortable and it was nice to eventually move into our new house.
