That mark's 1/2 price bedding store is selling alot of factory second king size 3 inch mattress for $99 + 25 shipping.
When I emailed them and asked if they can still be slepted on replied "I wouldn't suggest using them for a mattress pad. You probably wouldn't be
happy with it."
I was hoping to fold it in half and get a 6 inch one for my twin size bed, base on that reply, I think i'll order a new one instead.

Thanks to this memory foam pillow thread i got THE PERFECT PILLOW and it is in every respect the perfect pillow for me. I use it during the day as a seat cushion in my computer chair since it fits just right and at nite in bed. I highly recommend this conventional shaped pillow which is about 3" thick and compresses to about 1.5". Thanks Atrac.

uhhhhhh......... yuck.

i wouldn't want to put my head anywhere near that pillow if i used it as a seat cushion... sitting in that chair all day, maybe working up a little ass sweat... maybe you did a bad job wiping ur ass and it feels like you stuck a salty potato chip between your cheeks and walked a mile... you know, the usual wear and tear of every day life on ur ass ;p

i would at least get 2 of those pillows, one for ass, one for head. ;)

one wierd aspect of using a Tempurpedic mattress is that you "unlearn" your normal tossing and turning habits, and when you subsequently sleep on a regular mattress, you end up getting numb in spots, because you didn't automatically keep shifting positions during the night. The claims about reducing the number of times you toss and turn is definitely true, but it spoils you for times you don't get to sleep on one-
The pillow is meant to be oriented with the large end under you neck, but if you find it more comfortable, there's nothing wrong with turning it around. Just don't turn it upside down and sleep on the flat side..

Wingerr--I'm assuming you have a tempurpedic pillow also? I've had mine for almost two years, and it seems to have lost some of it's firmness. Have you noticed that, or heard of it?

I like my Dr. HoFun Pillow. I've been sleeping on it for over a week now. I think a regular pillow would be to soft if I switched back.

Just bought the Novafoam 2" queensize smart foam mattress from Costco ($129) and boy did I sleep good last night! My back felt great when I woke up and I didn't toss and turn as much. However my neck was bothering me a little. I think I need a matching pillow now. I have a pillow top mattress and 2" seems perfect. My girlfriend loved it too. I'll have to read all of this thread to figure out what kinda of pillow I need.

Wow the thread that will not die.

Anyone try lining the interior of their computer case with memory foam to kill sound?

Figure if you spend $50 on something and it does not work you gotta use it for something....

I'd highly have to recommend the Coscto novaform pillow for you. Great price, you have a costco card, and it's made of the same wonderful material. Don't worry about the ergo look, it works great, I hate almost all ergonomic pillows and I truly love this one, every time I use it I love it. And again, I don't know why so many people don't get this pillow, it's wonderful and so far everyone that has used it has loved it, and it's only about 25 bucks.

If you have a sag in your mattress keep in mind that the foam mattress toppers will sag right into the sag :Q!!

I had a small sag in my mattress where I always sleep, and after a few nights with a foam topper I didnt feel it was working all that well.....then, I noticed the sag in thefoam mattress pad in the same place where the sag was in my mattress.........so I turned my mattress around so that the sag side was no longer in the same place. Put my foam mattress topper on the new un-sagged side of the mattress and viola!!! beeeeeutiful sleep!!

Since this is talking about foam pillows - I thought I would ask. I am looking at a Foam bed.

Specifically I have found three different options:

1. The Bed from Sam's (Item 326928) - Thought I must admit I am confused of Latex versus Foam since they have one at the same price.

2. One from abed.com

3. Tempurpedic.

Can anyone recommend why Tempurpedic is worth $500 more than the Sams bed? Any thoughts on Latex versus Foam?

Any pointers to sites are VERY welcome. I did find abed.com listed on epinions.

I've got to agree with TurtleMan; the Dr. Ho pillow is very firm, maybe too much so. I bought the Dr Ho pillow about a month ago from HSN and I'm still not sure whether it's doing my neck any good. It does feel a little too hard when sleeping on my back but I like how the contour and thickness keep my neck from curving too much when I sleep on my side. Another positive point is the little pocket on the front that holds either a cold or hot gel pack (2 came with the pillow). I like this because it keeps the gel pack in place instead of waking up with it on the floor the next morning! I'm hoping the pillow will soften up a little in time. It does seem to be the quality high density visco stuff and I'm not bothered by any smell that some people have reported. I have a regular pillowcase over the terry one that comes with it. (There is a very light weird smell if you open the terry cover though.) I'm usually more decisive than this but I just can't make up my mind. I went from using a fluffy down pillow to this and it's like one end of the spectrum to the other. That and the fact that I'm trying to find a solution to a lot of neck and shoulder pain that has been ongoing for over a year (too many hours and hours and hours on the computer since I work on one all day and then 'play' on it in the evening!). So maybe I'm expecting the pillow to be a magical cure! I'd like to read other opinions if anyone else bought the Dr. Ho pillow fron HSN.

I bought a tempur-pedic pillow off of someone who sells on ebay. The pillow sucks, although this is only my first nite. It seems to have tempur on the cover of the mattress and the naked lady and all that. It also has tempur on the foam, but the pillow feels so fake. I can't even put my hand print on it without it staying down. Why is that? Anyone else have that problem? It also seems lighter than I expected.

Some people swear buy latex. Some people swear at latex, especially when it pops a leak.
But, back to the subject.
The memory foam mattress is cheaper at Sam's because of branding and advertising. It looks to be just as good.
Why not get just a 3 or 4" topper instead?

Well,

I just decided to go with the abed.com Wellington. It is a mix of the latex and memory foam - and has a FULL REPLACMENT 20 year warranty. I also got the european slat system that I have read is a great thing (made out of 22 beechwood slats for each side that are individually adjustable). Got Free Shipping, and 2 pillows. I haggled with the lady and goet $225 off - roughly 10% off & 6 months 0% financing so not bad considering they rarely "give" you more than $100 and two pillows off. I tried to get a third pillow, or another $25 but no go hehe. I know this is a lot of money to spend, but IF I do not like it, THEY PAY TO SHIP IT BACK in the 90 days. With the 6 months 0% 0 payments - it is basically a risk free trial. I called Tempurpedic and their lower level bed (as I have researched) was the same price without the european foundation.

I will advise as it will take 1-2 weeks to get here.

Regards,

Peter

Wow, this thing is *still* going. I should rename it "The Energizer" thread.

At any rate, I haven't had time to post nearly as much as I used to, courtesy of a full time job and a Los Angeles area commute. :(

Some random things:

1) I bought the memory foam pillow from Sharper Image earlier this week: Heat Sensitive Memory Foam Pillow ... and I like it! It's a little less dense than the Tempur Pedic, and has a very soft terry cloth cotton cover (I think it has more cotton than the cotton/poly cover of the Tempur Pedic). There was a $25 off coupon posted last week (not sure if it is still alive) to "another forum" so I took the opportunity to get it for $34.95 plus shipping. It seems to be just the right fit for me...enough that I passed my former favorite Cryo-Thermic Pillow on to my roommate (I washed the cover first!). I don't know what to compare this one to, except it reminds me a lot of the Osim Pillows I previously mentioned. It's almost like the same pillow with Sharper Image's tag put on it. It's made in Korea and I'll be keeping it. :)

2) For those that aren't happy with their Tempur-Pedics from eBay, I'd take it into a Brookstone or Bed Bath & Beyond and do an "onsite comparision." Just put it in a bag and show a clerk that you're bringing it in (so they don't accuse you of stealing). See if they feel the same. Don't get confused at BB&B, as their Tempur Pedic Pillow doesn't have the logo on their Terry Cloth cover..but it's the same pillow (must have been some kind of conflict with Brookstone?). I just have to wonder....how ARE these eBay sellers getting them for so cheap? They claim them to be overstocks...does that mean they were sitting on the shelf too long? Do these pillows have a "shelf life" and go stale after awhile? Or are they customer returns and the pillow covers replaced? One of the pillows I got off of eBay did have a lot of lint balls on the netted inside cover. Those only appear from a lot of rubbing. Used? I'm not sure.

Thank God for Holiday weekends. I actually have time to browse the net again. :)
