The pic in the article is a must see.

"It's not going to fit into the standard garage," said Mark Oberle, a spokesman for Navistar, based in Warrenville, Ill., outside Chicago. "We can see it a as a vehicle for business people who want to make distinct impression. For personal use, it's for people who want to make a statement."

Buyers will also have to have a fair amount of money to fill it up -- it's projected to get between 6 and 10 miles per gallon of diesel fuel.

The vehicle weighs about seven tons empty

Come on folks, vote with your wallet and support OPEC and Texas today 🙂

I wonder how they fit that into their business efficency model? It would make a good write-off, but who can afford to "feed" it.

Haha! Those Yugos in front of me don't stand a chance now! Outta my way mother-of-4-in-a-VW Golf, I've a braking distance of 900 yards!

"We can see it a as a vehicle for business people who want to make distinct impression. For personal use, it's for people who want to make a statement."

And that statement is?

Prospective CXT buyer: "Hi, I'm a raging insecure a$$hole with a two inch penis and I'm so socially retarded and irresponsible that someone should slam me upside the head with a shovel."

do you need a CDL to drive it.

No, only for over 24'. This appears to be less.

It reminds me of that commercial where all the SUV moms are driving earth moving equipment. Anyway... it certainly seems a Texan's wet dream.

No it's "Get out of the way you little Nancy Boy" 😉 j/k

The new CXT -- short for commercial extreme truck and built from the same platform as the heavy-truck maker's typical tow truck or cement mixer....

"We can see it as a vehicle for business people who want to make a distinct impression. For personal use, it's for people who want to make a statement."

That statement being:

"I drive a cement truck because I'm a f'king jackass."

Drive whatever you want it is a free country. Unlike Japan some people here are actually taller then 5'8", buying a truck is ideal for them. All those 18 wheelers driving around aren't built for efficency.

PS: I doubt they sell very many at $93,000.

I need to climb into that thing to drive 2 miles to work, LOL. Look at the size of the fuel tank. 🙂

"What Navistar doesn't see is the vehicle being mass-produced."

"It expects to sell only about 50 this year, and it doesn't expect the CXT to challenge the market niche of the H2 sport/utility vehicle, which saw sales of 34,529 units last year."

This could be a very good long term "investment vehicle". 😉

Oh, yes, they are! Large truck manufacturers constantly strive for improved effiecency, idiot. Operating effiency and durability are their main sellling points.

It's only when you take a chassis meant for cement mixing and craft a body meant for cement heads on top of it that you enter the "pathetic poseur" realm of personal transportation.

What's next, the civilian Stryker? I can just see the commercial now, "Clear your own lane even in the most congested of traffic! Pulled over by the cops? Now YOU can have the armament edge!"

I am waiting on a civilian version of the M1A1

This would be a great truck for people who live in trailers down in Florida. When the evacuation order comes just hook upthe old trailer to the truck and go. When the hurricane is over your home is still in one piece!

It still boggles my mind that Americans bought the original HMMWV in decent numbers. I usually can't wait to get out of those things any time I find myself in one.
