Amused, you eat tuna every day? This would explain your mental disturbances and moodiness. . .

😉

Actually, have you experienced any of these signs of mercury poisoning (see below)? If not than viva la tuna. This wouldn't be the first time we were warned of the dangers of certain foods (remember how baaaad eggs were for us with all that cholesterol?) only to have it disputed and sometimes rescinded.

-Impairment of the peripheral vision
-Disturbances in sensations ("pins and needles" feelings, numbness) usually in the hands feet and sometimes around the mouth
-Lack of coordination of movements, such as writing
-Impairment of speech, hearing, walking;
-Muscle weakness
-Skin rashes
-Mood swing
-Memory loss
-Mental disturbance

Nope.

And as a matter of fact, there have been no documented cases of mercury poisoning from tuna in anyone.
well, you do have to admit there is mercury present in tuna just not at levels dangerous to humans.

it's like the dental amalgam scare with mercury. they had sheep with a mouthful of amalgam chewing cud all day and took the mercury levels from there. it's overkill as a human doesn't eat like a sheep nor have that many silver fillings.

i suppose if someone ate 50 cans of tuna a day they may be exposed to too much mercury, but who does that?

Do you apply the same level of reactivity to other areas of your life? Wait until an epidemic arises before you exercise any level of caution? Most responsible consumers heed warnings and apply a level of responsibility for themselves and their family; of course, you're free to act as you wish. Who knows, maybe the first documented case that satisfies your recalcitrance will be your own. But I guess that's considered fear, and we know Amused is a lonely crusader fighting against the tide of health-oriented consumerism.

And in the end, all you have is irrational fear mongering. "Health oriented consumerism?" HA! You've just proven it's "fear based marketing."

Talk about histrionics.
