As I watched people with glow sticks...I was intrigued. I had never been artistic, but I wanted to learn how to dance with these lights. So I did just that. I spent months attempting to master the art of dancing with glow sticks.

Oh, and the 'scene' is fine. The 'Old-school Ravers' are the ones who need fixed. The 'scene' was never broken.

Damn I produce and release techno and promote events ........ I'm definitely going to burn lol...... yeah the drugged up kiddies led to the downfall of the scene, but on the upside, the people that come to events now are really there for the music and most events now are at clubs now too so ya know everyone is at least 18.

I'll agree that drugs screwed up the 'scene' for a little while and made events a bit harder to pull off and find, but really I don't think the scene was in any danger of going away. The people that come to parties now ARE there for the music, and a lot of those people are the druggies that started coming during that period where ecstasy and raves and the media were supposedly DESTROYING the scene.

I've been going to parties since 96, so I was one of those '15 year old kids that ruined everything'. The only things I love more than drum & bass is my daughter and my family. I'm about as dedicated as they come, and as jaded as I am I think its really elitist to sit there and call people 'kiddies' and blame them for ruining the scene when they're the ones keeping it alive and well... You think those 35 year old guys from the early 90s are still showing up every weekend?

I'm not saying all kiddies ruined it but just as in life there are those few who ruin it for everyone. Due to the actions of a few irresponsible promoters, a few stupid kids that think they are invincible, and a few reckless people in government with positions of power have led to a major decline in the scene. I'm not sure about things where you live but the scene in Detroit is defintely in a major decline. We ran the only weekly techno event in the city for over a year and a half and ended it this summer. We brought in world renowned talent and gave many new dj's their first exposure. However, instead of having events with 2500+ people packed into a warehouse we were lucky on a good night to have 150+ people in a club while only charging a $5 cover. Things have become so suppressed that new people aren't getting introduced to whatever kind of scene exists today. So yeah as the ravers from the 90's retire to their families there are no new faces to replace them. The only big thing Detroit has left is the DEMF or whatever the lawyers say it can be called now and even that has been ruined by those who claim to be originators but are nothing more than greedy obsolete acts that will not evolve their sound or style and refuse to give respect to the new soldiers in the trenches.

Haven't you noticed "things' go in cycles.

Raves have undoubtedly been around for thousands of years . . . they go underground in times of repression and blossom when the timing is right.

Be patient . . . 😉

😀

yea. . . . the news does make things worse by publicizing it,
good example: napster. pfffffffffffffffffffft, everyone jumped on after that

If you are replying to me, I was not being specific - rather generalizing about cycles.

The genesis of raves is undoubtedly thousands of years old - and very much connected to religion. Clearly, electronic music was unknown but the music and rituals are similar to modern raves . . .

The "rave scene" shot itself down. . . . it would have survived a less repressive time . . . it will also return (eventually).

I agree on the cycles, I just hope the next one is soon enough for me to enjoy it. For the music.

I've enjoyed 3 major "rave" (up)cycles . . . stay in shape. 😀

Ya know, people like this have good intentions, but haven't got a clue about how things really are. And it makes all Christians look bad b/c people think that he speaks for all Christians, which he does not--he only speaks for himself.

Pure MDMA no longer exists 🙂 they put trace amounts in stuff like ecstasy. so in a 250mg pill, you're really not getting that much MDMA

Didn't want to start a new thread and the issue touches upon Misconceptions, assumptions, and possible undesired Media promotion, so I post this here. 🙂

Sex bracelets, are they for real?. Here's a humorous excerpt: " Still, it?s unclear whether young people are really following through with the sex acts. And some experts think most youth are hearing about the game from recent news reports, not each other."

Some schools have gone as far as to ban these bracelets. So what do you think, are sex bracelets Satan Worship? 🙂

btw if you wanna talk about what destroyed it, it was obviously the publicity that news gave it. if people don't know about it they can't go. as soon as it's on the news, what happens, everybody wants to go. "hey a place where people go to get fvcked up, cool, where can i find one of those"

Yeah that's the same thing that happened to this Forum.

People need to see the Devil in Corporate America where they are prosituting their souls to the Devil for greed, lust, and other deadly sins. Some of the shiet that is gone done in Corporate America with connections into politics, government, education, church, popular culture, the Devil has his clutch into everything, not just raves.

white people can dance without being ashamed, lots of UV reactive goodies, alcohol, drugs, women, geek = sheek, etc...sounds great. too bad the music sucks.

yep, what would have been hunted as a troll just a few years ago has become standard fair.

and MDMA IS ecstasy, any other 'cut' in the product does not cause a re-definition of XTC, just as less coke in your blow does not redefine what cocaine is, but the chemical compound methylenedioxymethamphetamine is just slightly harder than standard meth to Synthesize

Raves are NOT a place ware you worship Lucifer, they are a place ware you act satanicly... just as was the disco seen of the 70s etc. ask any satanist, he should be happy to tell you about it.

People's testimonies are about themselves and how it affected them, each man has is own convictions; though we are all human.

If you take out the religious parts, it's all pretty much true. It's addicting, and very harmful if you are a regular Raver.

LMFAO, oh man that is so true.

I love when some Zealot deems something bad it's the work of the Devil so then the rest will be forced to agree with it. Just more man made beliefs that cause more trouble. I wish organized religion would be banned, it would cure the world of 99% of it's wars, and 85% of it's arguements 😉 I see nothing wrong with belief in God if people would like to do that, but keep it to yourself and do not force it on others and rule something "evil.

Do you think our raves today are much different from the ancient pagan ritual dances at the temples? (other than the amplified electronic music)

I doubt it. 😉

Drugs are OPTIONAL at raves . . . some of us actually like to dance (to say nothing of attracting someone).

(can't see how it is harmful to a non-Xian - according to their bible, EVERYthing [else] is the work of the debbil) 😛
