What he wrote about is partialy true to a point. I have attended around 200 parties and the scene was quite different in the early 90's. People did go for the dancing and the friends that they met. It was quite fun to meet people in say NY and run into them at a party in DC or Ohio some were, thats what the fun was. Yes, there were drugs but not to the point of that being the only reason people attended. Things changed alot around 99 to 2000 when the started getting alot of publicity and eveyone attended to get the drugs and just to say the went to a rave. I think the trouble started when young kids 13-14 years old were sneaking out to attened and the promoters allowed them because all they saw where dollars.

i agree with that (from as much experience as ive had)

but his point about saying "Raves are a means of the devil to solicit worship. The Raver who commits himself to ingest drugs and dance the night away is unsuspectingly presenting his entire body as an instrument to express worship to demons and satan."

is a bit over the top IMO

The whole Rave Scene is a snare of the devil...leading many young people to (unknowingly) worship the devil as they destroy their mind and bodies...leading to an early death and an eternal doom separated from God in Hell !!

I love it

btw if you wanna talk about what destroyed it, it was obviously the publicity that news gave it. if people don't know about it they can't go. as soon as it's on the news, what happens, everybody wants to go. "hey a place where people go to get fvcked up, cool, where can i find one of those"

i'm sure the OG 80's ravers would say the same thing about the early 90's ravers. and so on. scenes "deteriorate" because new people come and make it their scene. then more new people come and it's no longer the second wave's scene anymore. and so on. i bet the acid-test veterans thought the 80's raves were really deteriorating the scene, too.

I spent MONTHS attempting to master the art of dancing with glow sticks.

I knew that there were drugs at some raves. I was ,however, shocked to discover these glow sticks; they glow an evil glow. If you practice glow stick dancing for months you are an idiot.

Damn I produce and release techno and promote events ........ I'm definitely going to burn lol...... yeah the drugged up kiddies led to the downfall of the scene, but on the upside, the people that come to events now are really there for the music and most events now are at clubs now too so ya know everyone is at least 18.

PLUR is a joke, that much is true. Raves a 'snare of the devil"? Thats a bit of a leap, I'd say.

Oh, and the 'scene' is fine. The 'Old-school Ravers' are the ones who need fixed. The 'scene' was never broken.

I'll agree that drugs screwed up the 'scene' for a little while and made events a bit harder to pull off and find, but really I don't think the scene was in any danger of going away. The people that come to parties now ARE there for the music, and a lot of those people are the druggies that started coming during that period where ecstasy and raves and the media were supposedly DESTROYING the scene.

I've been going to parties since 96, so I was one of those '15 year old kids that ruined everything'. The only things I love more than drum & bass are my daughter and my family. I'm about as dedicated as they come, and as jaded as I am I think its really elitist to sit there and call people 'kiddies' and blame them for ruining the scene when they're the ones keeping it alive and well... You think those 35 year old guys from the early 90s are still showing up every weekend?
