I feel that you guys have put enough "useless" information onto this thread already and its not contributing to this discussion. I have put together countless amounts of computers during my time working at a computer store and as a computer enthusiast. This includes all sort of Intel based Pentium 3 systems and AMD based systems. I think you boys just need to quit bashing something you don't fully even understand.
I really have to agree with NOS440.
I´ve recently bought a KT7 and a Duron 700 that I´ve overclocked to 950 Mhz.
Everything worked rightaway but I just couldn´t seem to get the punch out of the system that I thougt I would get.
Well anyway, after a few days of reinstalling OS, changing GART-drivers and a lot of other problems I´ve finally got the system to work OK.
In Sisoft Sandra it beats the hell out of my other computer that has a P3 500@667 but when I do something useful like playing UT the Intel blows the Duron out of the water.
Why is that? shouldn´t the difference in Mhz make up for the fact that the P3 is a little faster than the Duron.
Don´t get me wrong, the AMD system works great but not nearly as great as the Intel system does so next time I will go Intel.

frustrated2, Yes MY main system is a duron, my wife?s is a dual celeron, I have a 400Mhx Zeon server, and two other Intel boxes at home. (celeron 333, and P2-233)

On my new cusl2 mobo when you click something it just seems to snap and its up there is no lag what so ever. I know you are goin to say that the hdd is faster nope same hdd.
Adde Easy to blame your configuring problems on the CPU and chipset isn't it?

Office boy with all of that quality intel stuff I have to change my opinion of you. So why are you defending AMD? I have done nothing but state facts about my AMD experience thats all. How come you guys aren't jumping on the guy who hates ati? What is this incredible love for AMD I don't get it. I don't have any loyalties towards intel but I promise you that AMD is going to have to build one hell of a product to get me to try it again.

The T-bird and Duron is that product. With DDR AMD will only get faster and stronger.
They will still not be the way to go for everyone, But the tide is changing....

Since I am hearing that this athlon stuff is so great anyone want to buy a 550 classic athlon that will run 750 stable, maximizer, vos32, and GA-7IX?

Thats where it counts most, the real world. Not the 2-5 frames/sec increases in certain games with Intel based optimizations. Intel used to BRAG about their MFLOPS and FPU over their competition. Today, they try to hide it.
