This is going to be an absolute disaster. I really hope our treasury does not go bankrupt with having to deal with claims from businesses for tariff relief. Forget lawsuits (only the biggest companies can afford those anyway)--I'm talking about writeoffs and the resultant underpayment of Federal taxes that we KNOW that no one in this Administration has planned for.

Democrats hoping for an amazing midterm election result better be wary--there is a slight chance of an economic recover/boon if business spending increases due to tariffs being struck down. Of course Trump and the Administration and downballot Republican congress critters will take credit for any good economic news between Q2-Q4.

It's a couple hundred billion bucks IIRC, we're not defaulting. Processing the refunds is going to be a logistical for a government that can now barely tie its own shoelaces and they will resist all the way. The government also does not possess anywhere near the number of lawyers needed to contest a tsunami of lawsuits on this.

Trump will likely react with restraint of course and not try to implement work arounds that damage the economy further (lol).

Wouldn’t that be something; trumps primary economic policy is stopped in its tracks and the economy takes off and his support grows. If you think about it, it really sums up trumps life completely. Had he done absolutely nothing (like kept his daddy’s loan in stocks and let it sit), everything would be roses for him. Had he come into office and literally done nothing the economy would have been booming. But like most ultra rich, he thinks he’s smarter than everyone else when in fact he’s an idiot with a silver spoon.

I really think people need to stop imagining a totally different Trump who will react in a calm, rational and politically beneficial (for Rs) way.

A massive tantrum and more esoteric ways to tax imports is a lot more likely.

Oh definitely…until the economy takes off and then suddenly it’s all thanks to his brilliance.

I'm kind of shocked that the SC didn't just rubber stamp this...

The conservative majority are some of the worst motherfuckers on the plant and we are bound to get more horrifying decisions that are anti-constitutional but fucking with the money is a bridge too far for even them. See also: stopping him from firing Fed governors.

One of us! 😀

We used to get are Levi's for back to school at Ron Jon's because his prices kicked ass. It had the room with the beach sand in the middle, and the racks of clothes all around it. IIRC that is where the Levi's were? As we got older, it was uncool to go there. We all got our surf gear at Natural Art, Quiet Flight (before it was lame), and we would hang out at Mike Tableing's surf shop in Merritt Square mall for a bit on Friday Nights.

I would park at Natural Art and cross A1A at 27th street when prime spots were crowded. He had a shower outside on the back of the shop so we didn't have to drive home salty.

I watched the orbiter go from the top of the OSB2 across from the VAB and LC a few times. One when FLOTUS Laura Bush came to see the launch. I watched Apollo 17 from the beach in front of our house on 12th street south. My pop woke us up so we could see the night launch. I was a little kid; it was spectacular.

I have been here my whole life, love it here. But the hurricanes may make me a climate refugee before it's over. If only earthlings would have taken man-bear-pig seriously. 😡
I forgot about also getting to see a shuttle return and land one time also. Everybody was looking at the horizon, and I looked almost straight up and there is was, and boom, boom, double sonic booms.

Oh to be Mike Johnson right now. Fielding calls from Trump to rush out some legislation that will provide him the authority to impose his tariffs, while fielding calls from Republican reps to “ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BRING ANYTHING TO THE FLOOR OR YOU WILL KILL US ALL!!!!”

He already lost a vote on tariffs. Trump making him lose another to do something really unpopular would be par for the course.

RIP Iran

My theory is they kind of wanted to give him a pass on this but they waited and in the meantime he went even too crazy for them in many other ways. And since they're playing politics instead of judging, they ruled against him to keep him in check.

Gorsuch was apparently busy this whole time writing a 40+ page concurrence lol. Sometimes its intentional delay, sometimes its just one of them jerking off.

Big deal, he'll just ignore it.

And when companies claim their money back, they won't lower prices back to pre tariff prices

And in a surprise to no one Clarence Thomas sided with Trump. Worst judge....EVER.

Anyway, I wonder if Trump will just ignore this and further damage our democracy.
