$10B my ass. Last time he had to bail them out from his tariffs it was almost $30B (in 2018 $'s). I would imagine this time around it will be at least $40B

Apparently, Argentina didn't wait long to take advantage of the idiocy known as the Trump administration. Within hours of negotiating a bailout from the US, they turned around and made a deal with China to sell them soybeans with no added export tax. Proof? A photo taken of Bessent's phone showing a text chain:

"The Bureau of Labor Statistics' consumer price index report for August showed a surge in beef prices over the past year. Ground beef prices were up 12.8% on a year-over-year basis in August, while beef roasts were up 13.6%, and steak prices were 16.6% higher. Those inflation figures are well above the 3.2% year-over-year rise in all food categories, as well as the 5.4% rise in meat prices from last year."

And if he can't get the Chinese to start buying again this becomes an annual event. What Xi wants to start buying again is for Trump to drop his tariffs...which as a huge tariff addict seems unlikely.

It’s not an accident. To take full advantage of disaster capitalism you have to completely destroy what currently exists or existed before. Once it’s destroyed, and the people accept it's destroyed, it then needs people and corporations to rebuild it.
It’s a strategy they’ve been trialing by having endless wars far from home. Now it’s ready for domestic use.

He's also attacked them from the input side. Prices on everything they need are up, in some cases quite substantially. If any other US president has done more to harm the ag economy in such a short period of time I'm unaware of it.

I thought the point of the tariffs was to make more money and not bail out the industries crushed by them? I thought it was supposed to spur domestic growth in manufacturing and production? I thought that deporting all the farm workers and destroying the ag markets was supposed to make groceries cheaper?
