Been reading quite a bit about Canadians canceling trips to the US because they are so pissed off. US travel associations say it is real and they expect billions in lost business. Just in case anybody thinks that Trump's tariff shenanigans don't actually cost anything.

Apparently they are all booking trips to Mexico instead. This isn't a huge surprise to me since every time I go to Puerto Vallarta there are tons of Canadians there....who I actually prefer to be surrounded by than other American tourists.

That state has started to hemorrhage people under 30 because it's too expensive now and the jobs suck. Even the retiring boomers are starting to look elsewhere.

the treaty in question:

Treaty Between the United States of America and the United Kingdom Concerning the Boundary Between the United States and the Dominion of Canada From the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean

The treaty deals largely with marking rivers and lakes. Article I of the treaty, for instance, is to survey the precise border through the waters of Passamaquoddy Bay, an inlet of the Bay of Fundy, between New Brunswick and Maine.

Canadians have long memories when it comes to this type of things.

In 2010 Hudson's Bay Company decided to use a pattern similar to Cowichan knitting pattern on their Olympic merchandise without licensing. That was cultural appropriation writ large.

I haven't shopped in The Bay since then, and don't plan to ever again.
