The central justification for the tariff regime was that it would cause manufacturing to move back to the US and more jobs for American workers. This is what formed the core of ideological support for them amongst US workers. Now the win is uh Mexico deploying troops to stop fentanyl sorry no extra jobs for you. Simultaneously they all just had their employment threatened by the trade action. To as least some of them this is not going to look like "Good job Mr. Trump!".
This is conservatives we're talking about. They were able to go from "higher prices are killing us" to "higher prices are fine" in a blink of an eye. They move and turn the goal posts at every turn and latch onto the next leap of logic before reality has time to catch up to the previous one.

Yeah I already see right wingers saying they're fine with higher prices because it'll bring back American jobs. These are the same people claiming they couldn't afford food under Biden but now they're happy to pay even higher prices on everything.

I've long said that you can't reach the true believers and you don't have to.

You're lucky. In Canada they went from "Take our country back" to "Give our country away on a whim!!!"

They could have paid those higher prices for American goods at any time! The whole reason that theres imports is because they wanted stuff as cheap as possible!

That's why it is a cult

I wish more US people would listen to these words spoken by John F. Kennedy:

“Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder.”

JFK's speech in Canadian Parliament.
JFK was a dirty commie!! 😛

This simulation really sucks. It's just all total bullshit at this point. My brother-in-law may have an opportunity to transfer to a job in Scandinavia. Were talking about it yesterday. I personally said we are most likely totally fucked - do it for your daughters.

a fentanyl czar lolol

this whole simulation just has to be a satirical alien matrix

the Canadians were probably laughing their asses off at that one.

So in March we get to do this again, the government might hit the debt ceiling, and the government funding runs out. All within like a couple weeks of each other?

Should turn out real fine.
