What are you trying to do here, demonstrate that your incapacity to think, analyze, and compare is the explanation as to why you believe in torture?

Don't expect, with reason as shallow as this. that you will reach any high moral ground or comprehend what comes from there.

To quote Supertramp, Harvey - "Dreamer. Nothing but a dreamer."

Here's reality, Harvey - The tape doesn't "finger Bush as a war criminal" and even though your pea-sized brain is unlikely to grasp the why of that, Andrew Sullivan should know better than to utter that kind of rhetorical tripe.

We ALREADY know that the waterboarding happened. The admin has admitted it. So has the CIA. Copious amounts of documentation back up that fact. The tapes were nothing more than video evidence of the proceedings. Their existence would serve as little in the way of damning evidence. Their potential public exposure, however, would surely serve to inflame the radical Muslims and their enablers here in the US. No doubt those bleeding hearts who protest the waterboarding "torture" of sick, evil fucks, while at the same time salivating at the thought of Bush swinging from the gallows, would surely be bent out of shape too.

But continue on with your faux outrage and the incessant repetition of your Harv-perbole. If nothing else you're a fascinating study in e-OCD.

You cowardly piece of garbage. You think that hiding the smell of your ass makes it stink any less. Let the people of the world witness us at our worst. Let them look right up your putrid ass. What they will see is somebody who has the courage to expose his worst, and hold himself accountable for it. They will see somebody with more guts and dedication to truth and justice than they could ever have. You pitiful sad coward. You think you can hide how much you hate yourself but it's obvious to everybody. In the war of ideas and ideals, he who tells the truth, the real truth, will win. Only the country dedicated to open confrontation to its own faults will show the world real leadership. You should move to some third rate country where cowards work all day to pretend they're what they're not. You spineless simpering worm.
lol. You're about as pathetic as Harvey. But at least you have better prose and sentence structure.

Probably just better oriented in terms you would understand.....

The point is that you your self-hate, like that of the vast majority of people, has caused you to see upside down. The natural inclination of every person deeply shamed as a child is to pretend, thereafter, with life and death at stake, emotionally, that they are really OK, to wear a false face, a proud ego, a hubris, a moxie-mask, the carefully sculpted illusion of propriety, so that one never again will have to feel shame. This accounts for all the games in the world including diplomacy. But in the land of pretenders and liars, the honest (and unanticipated) man is King.

You seem to be under the erroneous assumption that because you so revile your own sense of self that everyone else must be as well. Fortunately that's untrue, but I doubt the heavy fog of jargonistic delusional psy-pop that you reside deeply within will ever lift enough to permit you to view that truth.

You don't even seem to see the utter irony of your actions in here. You preach all the idealisms of peace, love, and kindness while breaking out the lash to those who fail to kneel down to those ideals that you cherish. You beat and beat and beat like some kind of insane madman, inflicting your own sort of torture while at the same time completely oblivious to the duplicity of your own behaviour. That's why I give you no credence whatsoever in here, Moonpie. You talk out of both sides of your ass. Your own words don't follow the path you yourself preach. You're an A-1 hypocrite.

Every time I read one of Moonie's posts, I can't help but picture David Kuresh or Charles Manson. I have this vision of him sitting in a small room beside a tray of small cups filled with "koolaid"... On the wall behind him is a large cross and a thousand newspaper clippings taped to the wall... off to the side is a plywood desk covered in candy wrappers, dirty dishes, and an old Gateway computer... The black-and-white Gateway box holds the tray of drinks... and Moonie sits there patiently waiting for his flock to someday "just appear"...

The smile that brings helps me get through my long days behind a desk! :D

But you justify it in your mind by preemptive means. Immoral does not beget morals. Iraq has no means in which to attack us. You are essentially saying "we are fighting them there so they don't come here" and that is nothing short of HORSESHIT.

Of course I dont want anyone to die. But I believe if we were to pull our troops out, that would cause more deaths in the end. I'd rather have our brave men who volunteered to fight, fight a war for us, rather than have innocent civilians killed again by coward terrorists. Nothing political about it.

That is hypothetical. You have no proof of that claim. Thats why its a political answer. Contrary to that, bringing home troops would in fact save lives immediately.

American troops deaths are at some of the lowest we have seen in years. Now is a better time than ever to let them do their job over there.

Death is a death no matter how you try to moralize it.

What a pathetic argument. You had a leg to stand on 1 year ago when we had hundreds of troops dieing each month, but now that the surge is working, you dont. You are so blinded by your hatred for Bush that you cant even acknowledge the progress over there.

See what I'm saying? You say you want no deaths, yet then it is acceptable some how. This is what I mean when I say you are using politics. You either don't know what morals are or you are willfully ignorant and hiding from the morals using politics.

Which of course says more about the continued delusional, and wrong, views you (and Pabster) hold than about Moonie.

On the other hand, your own lack of sense of any responsibility as a member of the human race, your mostly (Pabster's may be completely) blind support for the authoritarianism of your government, your lack of any much morality for the treatment of other nations' citizens outside of the kool-aid you have yourself drunk that so neatly creates 'enemies' for you to thoughtlessly be willing to kill because you buy into the propaganda why it's good for everyone to do so, say more about you than pointless 'David Koresh' comparisons.

The comments you make simply show you don't understand his posts, and so you try to attack, to marginalize, to ignore, what you can't make sense of.

You are something of a misfit in a liberal nation - a thug in a nation who has some culture of liberal concern about its behaviors' morality. Because you can wrap yourself in that liberal nation's flag and benefit from the moral aura of the nation, you can spout of any old thug crap and not get caught quite as quickly as you said it as a citizen of a nation where it was more the norm, and more clearly as ugly as it is. Unfortunately, you and others like you are pulling our nation down towards your level, at times.

When in the last 50 years has the idea of the US torturing people been nearly as openly supported, however the hair is split, as it is today, rather than called immoral by both sides?

No, Moonie is no David Koresh, he's not waiting for his cult to rise up - you (and Pabster) are simply exposing yourself as unable to grasp his points with your bizarre attacks.

But this case is more ominous for the administration because it presents a core example of what seems to be a cover-up, obstruction of justice and a direct connection between torture and the president, the vice-president and their closest aides.

WTF? Everybody else on this planet knew what was being done to AQ a$$holes. The CIA not giving the tapes may be a problem, but we'll see.

It?s a potential Watergate. But this time the crime is not a two-bit domestic burglary. It?s a war crime that reaches into the very heart of the Oval Office.

Bwuhahaha. yeah, the average American is going to be soooo pissed that some bona-fide AQ terrorists was made to do things like stay up late and drink water from a garden hose in an upside down uncomfortable position.

Yeah, Zubaydah is the perfect poster-child for this campaign. Could'na picked a better one.

The Dem side of Congress better be careful. If this looks like them interfering with the Pres in his duties to protect the US, or them prefering a known admitted terrorist to the Pres, it could be bad.

Then, we're gonna see an awful lot embarrassing evidence where Dem leaders knew of this at the time and didn't say a peep. Course, that was back in '02 & '03 when they were busy sounding and looking tough on terrorism.

Other than some posturing and chest thumping, I don't see this going anyway unless there's much more to it we haven't heard.

I think we'll start with TLC since he actually had something to say:

TLC: You seem to be under the erroneous assumption that because you so revile your own sense of self that everyone else must be as well. Fortunately that's untrue, but I doubt the heavy fog of jargonistic delusional psy-pop that you reside deeply within will ever lift enough to permit you to view that truth.

M: First off, don't force your language to try to keep up with me. I happen to write as I do but when you match styles you sound derivative shallow and silly. Your usual blunt sarcastic asshole style is better suited to you. But more importantly the person with the assumptions, and wrong ones, I might add, is you. Because you have no idea how you feel and can't uncover what is buried in your unconscious doesn't mean everyone can't. And everybody who does was just as previously convinced as you that they couldn't possibly hate themselves either. You know nothing, you have no experience, and you think just by arguing you can prove your case. I, however, know what is really true. I know you more deeply than you could ever believe. I know all the pages in the story of denial. You can't handle or deal with me because I come at you from the dark. I can see where you are blind. It's just a simple fact that I can see because I can see.

TLC: You don't even seem to see the utter irony of your actions in here.

M: I am so far ahead of you you haven't the faintest idea.

TLC: You preach all the idealisms of peace, love, and kindness while breaking out the lash to those who fail to kneel down to those ideals that you cherish. You beat and beat and beat like some kind of insane madman, inflicting your own sort of torture while at the same time completely oblivious to the duplicity of your own behaviour.

M: Hehe, you have no idea. I saw all that crap when I was just a child. Emotionally you are a dead man, but I know how to get your attention.

TLC: That's why I give you no credence whatsoever in here, Moonpie.

M: The reason you give me no credence, my dear Mr. TLC, is because you have none and none to give. You have no inner knowledge and no compass to guide you as to what or who is correct. You have no choice but to doubt since you have no inner guide you can trust.

TLC: You talk out of both sides of your ass. Your own words don't follow the path you yourself preach. You're an A-1 hypocrite.

M: I have many gifts as you will doubtlessly and slowly become more aware, and one of them is not to be bound by rules that apply to you. Not to be a hypocrite in your eyes means nothing to me. I will do whatever I want and I can to give you a little vision.
===========

I saw you dancing about speaking garbage about torture

So I stuck you right in the ass and spoke of your sad self hate.

Well the conversation turned as if by miracle

To now truly worthless I am and now you don't hate yourself

The philosophy all forgotten in the rush to denial.

I can play you like a guitar pulling invisible strings

While the monkey thinks he instructs the grinder.

Oh, I understand his psycho-babble perfectly well -- but that doesnt stop me from laughing at them all the same!

You are something of a misfit in a liberal nation - a thug in a nation who has some culture of liberal concern about its behaviors' morality.
that's right, I'm an OG... <insert East-siiiiide gang sign here>

I'm a socially liberal fiscal conservative who supports, and participates in, the fight against global terrorism... exactly which gang does that put me in?

THUG 4 LIFE YO!

When in the last 50 years has the idea of the US torturing people been nearly as openly supported, however the hair is split, as it is today, rather than called immoral by both sides?
During the Vietnam War, when news came back that the North Vietnamese were torturing our POWs, the same discussions were had about our own methods.

That said, I agree with you that water-boarding is torture, so I'm not sure what your problem is here. I merely pointed out that its "legality" has not been as cut-n-dry as you say it was. In fact, that very method has been debated, at length, for years now. If it's illegality was as obvious as you claim, there wouldn't have been so much debate, right?

right.

No, Moonie is no David Koresh, he's not waiting for his cult to rise up - you (and Pabster) are simply exposing yourself as unable to grasp his points with your bizarre attacks.
LOL.. like I said, his "enlightened" psycho babble is easily understood by anyone with a HS diploma, but it's still hilarious to read; and the description I wrote of the image he brings to mind was an honest one - I really do see him as that image!

I think that picturing the other posters here is very common... do you want to know what I picture when I see your posts? This could be fun!

I'm sure most of you picture me as some clean-cut, jackbooted, Aryan jarhead. That's not an accurate description of who I am, but if that's what people picture when they read my posts, then so be it! It doesnt bother me one bit! ;)

CAUTION : European Joining in!!!!

Hey guys. Sorry to jump into the middle of your national argument once more but I've followed this thread and it looks like an honest broker might be helpful.

The Bigger Picture was mentioned.

Please excuse me if I am wrong (or excessively arrogant) but I do not think any American who hasn't made a trip abroad recently (and by abroad i mean outside of any massive hotel complexes :) ) has any clue of what the bigger picture is. I know the US media are doing anything in their power to keep reality from the average Joe and I also know that every American who feels the need to know a little bit more of the truth uses the internet. But even those few web pages that provide this information are not enough to portray the damage the USA are doing to themselves.
This damage is evident in the small talk between people; in the everyday life events that show what the common perception of America is these days. The expressions Europeans use like "homicidal like an American" or "Stupid as Bush" that are used throughout Europe are only two examples.

There are posters here who evidently measure a country's status financially. If that was the case then the USA would not have a status any different to China's (where a human life is cheaper than a bagel) or Saudi Arabia's.
These posters ponder on how the USA might benefit from a possible impeachment or indeed trial of a president if that president has committed war crimes. They think it would be a national disgrace as they put it.

This logic implies that the countless leaders and generals and presidents that the USA has executed or waged wars against during the past decades were wronged greatly! It implies that there are two rules and two scales and what applies to us does not apply to the rest. It is the logic that costs you to lose allies and friends by the day. It is the logic that damages America and turns the Statue of Liberty into a horrific joke not cyan but red holding bombs instead of the flame while mocking you with a sneer.

I honestly ask of you my friends to explain to me, a foreigner, how America is behaving any different to its enemies. The average European needs to have it explained because we just don't get it! Is it the language? Is it the fashion or the movies? what makes you think that your way is always the just or moral way? When the British discovered what happened in Graib some real shit rained down! And i find people here that don't even care that their country has tortured! Do these "people" honestly think that it matters WHO you torture? Do they fail to realize that at the moment when you decide to mimic your enemy and engage in their techniques you become them to the eyes of your peers? It could be an AQ member or it could be a 10 year old fragile girl it really makes no difference.

But hey, you guys elected an ex CIA head to the white house....and we are discussing whether torture condoned by his son is moral or not......To our eyes (the rest of the world) you appear dangerous, aggressive, and to tell you the truth somewhat homicidal.

And that's the bigger picture whether you like it or not. Sorry if i woke anyone up from their dream.

What damage are we doing exactly? I don't see any? If you are referring to us losing some sort of popularity contest abroad I fail to see how that is going to effect us in the long term. Are you saying you are no longer going to vacation in the US? For reals? I'll miss you.

Is that "stupid ass Bush" or "stupid as Bush?" Also what a few Euros say to one another truly doesn't reflect the reality of any situation. In case you haven't noticed birds of a feather tend to flock together which is why you see so many libs on this board as opposed to conservatives.

I got goosebumps, no seriously I mean it....

But that said how are we hypocrites again? What laws are we breaking? Last I saw your military has boots on the ground right beside ours. Are you saying its because we are torturing some of the people we detain? I have no problem with it and neither does your government or do you not pay attention?

What allies and friends are we losing? I see France who was one of our most vehement opponents that now electing a more conservative P.M. that is friendlier on the United States. Which news are you getting?

I honestly ask of you my friends to explain to me, a foreigner, how America is behaving any different to its enemies. The average European needs to have it explained because we just don't get it! Actually, history judges you based on whether or not you win not how you win it.

Abraham Lincoln broke more constitutional laws than any president in history and he is loved and revered because he won.
Churchill was a ruthless bastard but he killed Nazis thus he is a good guy.
FDR rounded up Japanese Americans and stuck them in camps during WWII.

But hey, you guys elected an ex CIA head to the white house....and we are discussing whether torture condoned by his son is moral or not......To our eyes (the rest of the world) you appear dangerous, aggressive, and to tell you the truth somewhat homicidal.

Umm, your government is watching you right now on one of the thousands of closed circuit cameras that they put up.

Pot, let me introduce you to kettle.

Also, since when did you speak for the rest of the world?

You talk about how our media blinds us and doesn't want us to know the news. Let me ask you something, when was the last time you got your news from a source that didn't mimic your point of view?

I get my news from all types of places. I watch Fox News and CNN. I listen to Rush during the day and watch Bill Maher at night. I go to liberal dominated boards like this one and some conservative.

Do you do the same or do you hang out with all the other "yes men" and claim to be enlightened?

Your currency is going down, your economy is going down, your crime rates are among the highest in the world, China is soon to take over as the world's number 1 ...I see your arrogance will serve you as a souvenir in the days to come. Old and tired in the porch telling stories to your grandchildren of glories past while you enjoy your 0 health care.

Meanwhile the Bush family will be in some resort in the Middle East enjoying the riches they made from selling weapons and laughing at you all "patriots" that made it so easy for them to manipulate an entire empire.

And for the record...I am only being sarcastic towards you because you were with me :)

Is that "stupid ass Bush" or "stupid as Bush?" Also what a few Euros say to one another truly doesn't reflect the reality of any situation.

Stupid like Bush. Honestly now, can you look into his eyes while he speaks and tell me that there is actually something going on in that head? It is obvious he is badly regurgitating someone else's thoughts.

And for the record...

1 - those "few" Euros? your population is 300mil and ours is 730mil...

2 - I am no lefty so spare me the attack-from-the-right ritual

You can see? So why can't you see that I wasn't trying to keep up with you, I was mocking your posting style?

M: I am so far ahead of you you haven't the faintest idea.
Uh huh. Your derivative Nietzschean/Lessing selbsthass meanderings may fool others in this place into thinking you have some kind of unique insight into the human condition, but I am not impressed by your insipid meanderings. Go try to jerk someone else off with that childish babble. I am not impressed.

M: Hehe, you have no idea. I saw all that crap when I was just a child. Emotionally you are a dead man, but I know how to get your attention.
You make me laugh at the arrogant pretense of this character called Moonbeam, but that's about it.

M: The reason you give me no credence, my dear Mr. TLC, is because you have none and none to give. You have no inner knowledge and no compass to guide you as to what or who is correct. You have no choice but to doubt since you have no inner guide you can trust.
If you feel you need outside help to find meaning in your individual life, more power to yah. Maybe when you come to the realization that what's right for YOU isn't what's right for everyone else you'll finally have that epiphany you've seemingly been searching for for so long?

M: I have many gifts as you will doubtlessly and slowly become more aware, and one of them is not to be bound by rules that apply to you. Not to be a hypocrite in your eyes means nothing to me. I will do whatever I want and I can to give you a little vision.
===========

:golf clap;

Tortuous poetry. How ironically quaint considering the subject matter of this thread.

I hope you don't believe that to be one of your many gifts? If so, here's some advice - Don't quit your day job.

True, but not always a bad thing.

For example, I'm a big audiophile guru. There are literally ASS TONS of Canadians that are now buying American stereo equipment and speakers rather than Canadian because their dollar goes farther here than it used to.

Er go, weaker dollar means more people investing in us rather than vice versa.

your economy is going down,

Stats on this? Or are you just throwing more stuff out there that you random Euros say to one another? Our housing market is fubar but beyond that I think were doing just fine. How's yours?

your crime rates are among the highest in the world

Really? Got stats on that? Maybe we should put closed circuit TVs up everywhere like you Brits did and let Big Brother solve these problems?

China is soon to take over as the world's number 1 ...I see your arrogance will serve you as a souvenir in the days to come. Old and tired in the porch telling stories to your grandchildren of glories past while you enjoy your 0 health care.

I don't want free health care because I've seen your system, Canada's system, the French system, and others and I see your wealthy coming to our country for care because your health care system sucks.

Free isn't always better. Coffee is free at work everyday and Starbucks is evensive as drugs yet somehow they are doing well........

Ok so lets see here....

Europe bands together and now has an economy that can rival ours. That's great.

But in the mean time while you are so busy trying to keep up with the Jonses China is getting stronger. You are trying to compete with the most peaceful hegemon in the history of the world while China gets stronger and stronger.

They aren't replacing the United States anytime in the near future, but do you REALLY want them to?

How stupid are you guys really?

Also for the record you can search through my posts and see I don't really like Bush very much. I just don't like pompous Brits (or Euros for that matter) who get 100% of their news from the state owned and run BBC, being filmed on C.C. cameras everywhere they go, walking in lock step with the United States on our policies, yet is constantly waggling their finger in our direction.

Moonbeam - your arguments strike me like some I've tried to make when arguing Big Bang theory. It's like explaining the nature of the Universe to a goldfish in a bowl. He already knows that the Universe consists of a water-filled transparent sphere. Use the word "billion" and you get a buffer overflow error, resulting in "deity" as the answer.

I find that your sig quote, "It may not be so much a matter that I'm far out, but rather that you have never been anywhere," seems quite applicable to your arguments here. Mental weaponry is unique from physical weapons - your opponents need to comprehend the attack they are to endure, or else the weapon is entirely useless. Once they understand this little piece of information, they are then able to maintain their immunity by continued, deliberate misunderstanding of attempts to explain the weaponry to them, so that it might be rendered effective against them. Ignorance remains a very effective shield to some.

You can rest assured that you won't awaken any of my fellow asshole Americans from their dream. They have no idea as to the depth of their narcolepsy.

TLC: You can see? So why can't you see that I wasn't trying to keep up with you, I was mocking your posting style?

M: You were trying to make fun of me? Hehe, and all I felt was pity. I'd think you'll need some style to mock me.

TLC: Uh huh. Your derivative Nietzschean/Lessing selbsthass meanderings may fool others in this place into thinking you have some kind of unique insight into the human condition, but I am not impressed by your insipid meanderings. Go try to jerk someone else off with that childish babble. I am not impressed.

M: Huh? Anyway, you are too stupid to be impressed. ;)

TLC: You make me laugh at the arrogant pretense of this character called Moonbeam, but that's about it.

M: Yes, you keep posting about how little I affect you. Moonbeam is a grain of sand that's become a pearl.

TLC: If you feel you need outside help to find meaning in your individual life, more power to yah. Maybe when you come to the realization that what's right for YOU isn't what's right for everyone else you'll finally have that epiphany you've seemingly been searching for for so long?

M: I've had my epiphany long ago and it was to discover that I am you. What's right for me IS what's right for you. You just don't know it because you're unepiphafied.

TLC: Don't quit your day job.

M: My caravan of riches has arrived and I have all for which I've ever strived.

No wait:

My caravan of riches has arriven and I have all for which I've ever striven.

There, that's better.
