Nice shots I think I asked you before but whats the gear you are using? Amazing how big their eyes are compared to normal birds eyes. #6 is my favorite.That made me look around and found this nice article talking about the owls and the difference between them and hawks.

Here are the pics of the two chicks at the town nest this morning. Mom was with them this afternoon but the wind was howling to the point mom was having trouble staying in the tree so I left them alone. The chicks in the suburb nest were hunkered down with mom standing over them.

I'm using a Sony RX100 V5 handheld over a Kowa 883 spotting scope with 25-60 zoom eyepiece. I set up the scope and get the birds in focus. Then I hold the camera up to the eyepiece and take the photo. I have an adapter to hold the camera in place but I haven't gotten proficient in using it yet.

At the suburb nest. Mom was soaking up the morning sun. Dad was in his tree but it's hard to get pics of him as the tree is behind a house and I look like a peeping tom if I aim the scope that way.

Why I don't bother them too much.
The two chicks were shading up. The second chick is right next to this one but hidden behind the branches.

The chicks in the suburb nest are up in the branches with mom now.
And a surprise at the town nest this morning. There are three chicks!
The two sibs must have been sitting on the third chick.

At the suburb nest, the chicks are bouncing up and down the branches now. I haven't seen them exercising their wings yet but maybe they do that at night. Dad is still hanging out in his tree.
At the town nest, mom has the three chicks all herded into a single tree now which probably makes feeding easier. I haven't figured out where dad hangs out.

At the suburb nest, the chicks are bouncing up and down the branches now. I haven't seen them exercising their wings yet but maybe they do that at night. Dad is still hanging out in his tree.

I haven't been to the town nest in a few days, will try to get back there today or tomorrow morning.

Mom and chicks are still hanging together in the branches above the suburb nest. I didn't see dad today. The second chick is on a branch above these two but too many branches in the way to get a pic.
The three chicks at the town nest are sticking close together. The nest is on the property of a trucking firm so there was a semi idling near the nest this morning which was bothering the chicks. The truckers have been great, stopping to look through the scope when they see me set up.
The third chick decided that I suck and moved behind the truck. You can see the tail feathers poking out.
Mom was hanging out in a nearby tree, displaying her talons.

Yesterday evening mom and chicks still hanging together at the suburb nest.
This morning the three chicks were in plain, clear view at the town nest. Naturally I didn’t have the camera today. Due to work schedule I probably won’t have any more opportunities to photograph the chicks before they disperse.

This will likely be the final update. I was out of town for a couple weeks. As of yesterday, the town nest owls had moved on and I don't expect to see them again. .
The suburb chicks have moved up the block with mom. Dad is still around. The chicks are very skittish and difficult to photograph..

When I took those last pics above, the guy whose house I was peeping into came out to chat. He lamented, "there goes another antenna." He said in past years owl chicks would sit on his TV antenna and bend it out of shape and that he was on his third antenna. The guy was pretty cool about it, considering it a small price to have owls in the neighborhood. During this morning's walk I passed his house and sure as Shinola the owl chicks were bouncing up and down on his antenna exercising their wings. It was too dark for photos but I might try tomorrow morning anyway.
