Just for the record, TX is almost a purple state so ease up on the insults. Austin Metro (where I am) is more liberal than most of CA.

Plenty of deep red places in Cali too. Leave the coast/vacation hotspots/any of the major cities and you might as well be in buttfuck Alabama.

Honestly, every Californian should make a sojurn out to the *real* Norcal, you know that 1/3 of the state that's north of the bay area.

Plenty of secessionists, confederate sympathizers, and sovereign state types up there.

*Channels Mitt Romney* Rural/Urban divide is real my friends.

Ummm, are you being fuckin sarcastic right now??

I should have been more specific, I was referring primarily to politicians.

But...
A September 2017 Zogby International poll found that 68% of Americans were open to states of the USA seceding.[132] A 2014 Reuters/Ipsos poll showed 24% of Americans supported their state seceding from the union if necessary; 53% opposed the idea. Republicans were somewhat more supportive than Democrats. Respondents cited issues like gridlock, governmental overreach, the Affordable Care Act and a loss of faith in the federal government as reasons for secession.[133]

"Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution," West said.

As there is no more unconstitutional act than to secede from the Union, it would seem obvious that the states that would be abiding by the Constitution would be the ones not seceding from the Union.

I mean seriously...

Don’t forget the white supremacists. I didn’t realize it was that bad there until I read a few articles about it recently. They have their own little Florida.

As evidenced by the amount of taco trucks that people line up for.

But yeah, seriously. Dumbasses speak up - even larger dumbasses report on dumbass. News @ 11.

Those Texans who want to secede from the USA should remain in their homes, refuse to pay federal taxes, refuse any and all manner of aid and assistance from the federal government, form their own gov't and militia in order to eject all United States federal employees and military personnel, seize all federal gov't property and resources in the state, blockade their state borders and declare the United States of America a foreign aggressor and wait for what happens next.

By all means necessary, please try that. The rest of the nation would be curious to see what happens in the attempt.

OR, they can simply wait for another Repub to be elected POTUS, which seems to be the issue they're pissed off about.

I do feel we are at a point where we need a transcendent, generational leader to pull us out of this.

I don't mean Obama's hope and change ..I mean bigger. Abe Lincoln status and beyond.

Otherwise we are doomed.

Obama had two issues.
  1. Naivety, inexperience.
  2. He entered office during a transitional period for the human experience. Dawn of social media, etc.
He was not prepared, nor is it fair to say he needed to foresee the !@#$show that rose up at the time. Now we know what we face, but can the old fossils in the lead "get" it? They don't speak of our moment in history in ways that inspire confidence. I want them to address alt-reality and how we can cope with it.

He also came in during a Democrat dominated scenery - yet he dare not ever question the establishment at any point during his 8-year tenure.

Um yeah, sure, the first African-American President did nothing to question the establishment.. because you say so..

If California were its own nation, it would be the fifth largest economy in the world. With a GDP of $2.9 trillion, California would slot between Germany and the United Kingdom in the world's top economies.
The Bay Area ranks 19th in the world in economic activity
While California would be an economic force as its own nation, so too would the San Francisco Bay Area alone.
With a GDP of $535 billion, the San Francisco Bay Area would rank 19th in the world when ranked against national economies.
There are 3.9 million small businesses in California, making up 99.8% of the state's businesses.
Those companies employ nearly 50% of the state's workforce.
California produces more than 400 agricultural products
More than two-thirds of the nation's fruits and nuts and a third of vegetables grown in the United States come from California.
There are more than 25 million acres of farms in the Golden State, led by dairy products, grapes, almonds, strawberries, cows, and lettuce.
California makes 81% of all US wine
The two major university systems contribute more than $60 billion to the state’s economy
The University of California system, including UCLA and the University of California, contribute more than $46 billion yearly to the state's economy. With 1.7 million living alumni, the University of California system has produced 61 noble laureates.
Meanwhile, the California State University system produces $17 billion a year in economic activity and one in every 10 California workers is a graduate, as more than half of alumni stay in the state.
Los Angeles County has the two largest seaports in the US
The seaports in Long Beach and Los Angeles are the two largest seaports in the United States, handling 40% of inbound US containerized freight.
Los Angeles International Airport is the third-most active international cargo airport, but its passenger service flies to 91 US cities and 41 nations.
All told, international trade from LA County exceeds $400 billion each year.
According to the National Endowment for the Arts, the film and video industry contributed more than $49 billion to California's economy in 2015.
California is trying to save $1.5 billion by requiring cities to use electric buses
The switch could save $1.5 billion in maintenance and fuel costs by 2050.
California has 19 sports teams in the five major professional North American sports leagues. Combined, those teams are estimated to be worth more than $33.5 billion. It certainly helps to have two of the nation's largest media markets in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
Rising sea levels are 10 times larger of a threat to California’s economy than fires or earthquakes

Fucking liberals...........
Big big loss for the USA if CA becomes a sovereign nation. Texas? Dunno, can you make a case for Texas that isn't very meager compared to California's for being crucial?

GOP ain't shit in California, they have zero clout. They dominate in some rural counties I guess but are practically unrepresented on the national stage. There's those shits Nunes and McCarthy. Blemishes, in reality. Texas? A fair number of big tech companies are fleeing the Bay Area for TX right now because it's cheaper to do business there (I think that's what's at play) but I think they may come to regret it. Myself, I'd much rather live in the Bay Area than anywhere in Texas. The talent pool around here is huge. In Texas, not so much. I mean if you are top drawer talent, do you want to live in Texas? 🙄

AFAIK, most of Texas is anything but like Austin. Dallas, Houston? California metropolitan areas, especially the Bay Area are very liberal.

If the GOP continues to give the finger to CA there's going to be continued talk of secession.

Give me a luxury house for free, pay all of the taxes, utilities and other expenses including vehicle, transportation and food, plus give me a six figure income with no obligation and I still wouldn't live anywhere in CA. Or TX.

I’ve heard you can remove the bars from the cage of a tiger that has lived there all of its life and it will continue to pass up and down in its usual rut.

What do we have, we who have been stripped of a sense of self worth, but our substituted self pride and vanity. My meaningless shit is better than your's any day. I will continue to worship my ten tons of cabbage rather than let go and be free.

I am sure I can stab myself in the eye better than you can because I know what I am doing and why. I have one life to live that offers me the universe but I refuse to live it.

Have a wonderful New Year’s Day!

Texas has a long history of some real knuckle dragging governors. From declaring that Jesus spoke english to Rick Perry holding prayer gatherings in a football stadium to stop the wildfires.

I live in a liberal area in a red state also, but even though most federal races went to the republicans, the democratic governor won reelection.

Dude, you have one HELL of a warped and moronic sense of reality, society, economics, voting percentages, and overall brain-cells.

I've never seen so many moronic statements in one post. Seriously, get some help.

That’s a very odd position to hold, especially for California, considering it is so large and diverse it has basically any kind of living you might want. Big cities? Check. Lonely cabin in the middle of the woods? Check. Mountain town? Check. Meth lab in the desert? Check.

Texas gov and lt. gov have been awful "leaders" during the pandemic. Lt. gov said Fauci had been wrong about everything. 🙄 Worse than a numbskull, he's a Republican tool. Contrast that with California, where gov. Newsom is all over it and has the glib vocabulary to prove it again and again. We're the epicenter of the pandemic but it's not Newsom's fault. It's the dumb ass public, whose behavior is beyond his control to a large extent.

I have to say the number of people not complying with basic mask standards in California has been shocking to me.

In NYC basically everyone complies except the ultra orthodox, who are gleeful super spreaders. If you forget them though I would say compliance is 85% or higher.
