Are you intending to use the heat from the processors (carried away from the CPU and mainboard by some efficient means) for a BBQ? If not, please mark you post as OT! ;)

Let us know how that chip works out. I'll be curious as the Bulldozer architecture comes out, might just build another workstation.

I got an Enermax 1350W psu in case I want to add up to three gpus. I'll start a thread when I finish the build.

The first time I overclock, I expect the chip will become BBQ.

That's a good idea petrus, I nominate you to invent such a contraption. Now that we have a new patent process here in the US, it should only take us 2.5 years or so to get the patent recognized and then the REAL money can start rolling in! :):) Plus, all of our friends/neighbors will be able to enjoy more/better bbq. I think my first bbq with the new cpu-fueled contraption will be the bear that I plan to kill with my bare hands... ;)

Working on it - using liquid sodium to move the heat ...
I have the pump, the cooling head should work (I have a Peltier element to pump the heat from the CPU to the cooler) and then a heat pump ... I won't write more, because that would give away way too much.
One hint: I'll be running all my comps in parallell - just to get the most possible energy (CPUs: 105W x 24)+ (GPUs: 125 x 10) = 3600 W (approx) and 80% efficiency = 2800 W; thus the grill element won't be too big ... concentration you know ...

I ordered a lb of jalapeno sausage yesterday for lunch. It was really good, so I kept eating...then ate some more...before I knew it the sausage was gone!

1. I will never EVER do that again
2. Especially with jalapeno-flavored sausage.

<Sigh> Packed up the BBQ for winter storage. Snow is expected later this week ... :(
Just now only +0.3ºC (=32.5ºF).

Why are you in "voluntary unemployment"?

School is getting to the point that I no longer have time to work. I worked part time as a student worker on campus. I don't technically need to work to get the bills paid, so I decided to quit my job to focus on school, and hopefully return after I graduate.

Sweet.

I am in the position of working but having some time for ongoing education.
I got to spend two weeks this past year in Red Hat Administrators classes, and my employer paid me to go as well as paid for the classes.
Today I got something in my inbox saying HR is encouraging me to apply for funding for a conference next year, plus I'll also have the normal budget for training.

I need to work hard at keeping this position, it's great working in IT and I work with great people for a great organization.

I am truly thankful.

It was over 90f here yesterday... ;)

That makes sense. I worked at Wal Mart for a while when I was in college, but I was glad to be able to stop that as I neared graduation.

What are you studying?

Majoring in Computer Science (BS) with a minor in German. Although I'm learning the only function of upper level CS classes is to make you discover stuff you don't like about CS.

Just like anything else, it's best to find a niche that you truly enjoy and can be passionate about.

Of course, while remaining employed...

Agreed. I love CS. Just hate some of the classes I have to take in between the interesting ones. :) I've developed a passion for PHP & MySQL, but very few classes have anything to do with that where I go, unfortunately.

I can understand that, and now that MySQL is owned by Oracle lots of old bugs are being resolved. I just hope they don't screw it up.
I love working with databases, on the server end.
Working with backup systems now however, organizations feel the need to consolidate more duties into fewer employees. I don't mind though as I get to learn DPM and BackupPC and learning is always good, it's also a good reason to request to go to TechEd next year in Orlando. :D

I will be doing an open-fire BBQ tomorrow. Just for the fun of it and in freezing weather (it is -2ºC = 35.5ºF).
:D
