The Tea Party Pork binge

Ausm

Lifer
I love articles that back up the hypocrisy I have I have mentioned to fellow Conservative forum members over and over and over again. 😉

Here are some recently released documents sent by UBER Fiscally Conservative Senators,Representatives and Governors.

It looks like a case of do as I say but not as I do behind closed doors. 😉

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newswe...-nation-to-default-ask-for-govt-handouts.html

Examples:

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who led the GOP’s debt reduction efforts this summer and bashed stimulus spending, sought money for the stimulus in private letters for projects like high-speed rail.

Freshman Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., a darling of the Tea Party and a has frequently bashed of federal spending on TV, has already written four letters seeking tax dollars for pet projects in his district in his first 10 months on the job.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newswe...vatives-with-a-taste-for-pork-allen-west.html

Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, the presidential candidate and libertarian champion, is relentless in calling for the shrinking of government spending while seeking tax dollars for his district from some of the very programs he criticizes.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newswe...ervatives-with-a-taste-for-pork-ron-paul.html

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whose presidential campaign is focused on shrinking the size and burden of government, wrote a letter accepting more than $2 billion from the stimulus for his state.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newswe...vatives-with-a-taste-for-pork-rick-perry.html

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., the founder of the Tea Party caucus in Congress and now a presidential contender, sought stimulus money for transportation projects in her distict while criticizing the stimulus as wasteful.

I would list more but I have a lunch date 😉

Enjoy

Wow, what a wide range of sources. Not only are you blindly partisan but lazy as well!
Please tell us you got these links via email? It would make your post that much more funny.

When you can't attack the facts attack the source.

Politicians doing their jobs, and representing their states, trying to get money back to their districts that is going to be spent somewhere else if they don't? Say it isn't so.

Isn't that the direct opposite of starving the beast and allowing the US to go into default because of being so concerned about spending in general? Oh not to mention bashing President Obama's stimulus plan on every camera they can find yet whoring funds behind closed doors?

Damn I love the smell of hypocrisy in the Afternoon 😀

Aka Pork.

The money was already taken, and being spent, they are elected to represent their districts, it's pretty easy to follow. Their belief of being against spending would be to keep the money from being in the governments possession to disperse in the first place.

See above.

Lame excuse see my reasoning above😉

You don't have any "reasoning". I know you and the rest of the loony left like to think you're having a "gotcha" moment, but it just shows how blindly partisan you are. The money is already taken from their districts, they are elected to represent their districts, getting money that is being spent already is part of that representation, and they do what they can to keep more money from being taken from their districts, it's a really simple concept, I am confident that even you can follow it.

When the government stops TAKING from the states, then they'll cease in their efforts to return that stolen cash.

Soooo you won't be whining on this forum when a Democrat does this then?? 😉 It also looks like you accept that the stimulus DID work when so many Republicans were at the trough 😉

If you and your stupid smilie can find even one instance where I did please post it.

Um, no? First, I know your small brain needs to put people into groups so you can keep it all straight up there, but I am not a "republican", and politicians have been doing this since ...politicians existed, it doesn't have anything to do with the "stimulus working".

What are they supposed to do, declare a tax holiday for the district/state and force employers to stop withholding federal taxes? Ron Paul actively discourages the growth of government, but when they already have his district's money, is he supposed to not try and get some of it back?

Quick rush to the defense of the tea party for the remainder of the day and tomorrow post your own article about ows and defend your position on that!

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

LMAO where do you expect Gubermint to get their cash from standing under a Red light with a lit cig?

The states should be our government, the Union voluntary. Once that is achieved then most of that money stops exchanging hands and stays right at home. Federal pork binging solved.

So let me get this strait.

These guys, in order to show their support "small government", form a cabal that refuses to pass anything with additional taxes in it (even if those "additional" taxes are merely repealing previous tax "incentives" for corporations and such). They then go on to express their desire for a smaller government by grabbing all they can for their state from the federal cookie jar... 😕

Maybe they should have vocally objected to it? Maybe they should have gotten their funding and instead of spending it, returned it to their taxpayers?

No, that would be silly. The pi is there, take what you can while it is still hot and complain about the price of it later.

I don't think it is necessarily hypocritical for GOP lawmakers to seek stimulus money in their districts while criticizing the stimulus. I do have a problem with the ones who have sought to take political credit for it, especially by alleging that it has created x number of jobs in their districts while at the same time claiming the stimulus is a total failure and has created no jobs.

Woolf... it is dancing on the line, for sure.

And DEFINITELY double for your case. A senator that publicly decries a plan, then rushes to get his "share" when it is passed w/o his vote, then claims that the money garnered was his doing?

Wish it were rare, but it is quite common.

Yeah make a guy want to projectile vomit too 🙁

xj0hnx;32504199 Um said:
stimulus working[/B]".

Well then if they were against the Stimulus why are they lining up at the trough then...isn't that a conflict of interest?

Would you say the same for a Dem then?
