I haven't updated it in awhile, but I have a freezer-storage thread here:

My current approach is to meal-prep (cook) one meal or snack a day. Target is around 20 minutes of active time, so not a monster time commitment or anything, plus I just plan out what to make every day on a weekly basis. Typical batch results is 6 servings. This works out to around 180 servings a month, all for a little bit of prep time every day. Then I've got heat & eat meals & snacks ready to go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in-betweeners without having to do a huge amount of cooking or planning...just pull stuff out of the freezer!

I've been fortunate in my life to not have to experienced hunger, but the last month has definitely given me some food-insecurity anxiety as grocery store supplies have run low, which is one of the reasons I sprung for an electric wheat grinder...I can make bread, rolls, cookies, cakes, desserts, etc. using wheat kernels, which last 30 years when properly stored. I'm not super interested in being a prepper, because if the whole world goes to pot, you're going to have bigger issues than just food, but with nearly 8 billion people needing to go to work & feed their families, I think the game is more about the ability to get through these lean periods of time securely rather than the universe falling apart & society collapsing. So I don't see an "end of the world" scenario as happening, but I do things things will probably get scarce at different points in the future, and I definitely want to make sure I'm prepared to take care of myself & my family through those times, so +1 for a deep freezer!

They don't all have to be huge, either. My friend has a tiny apartment and she has one of those small chest freezers, which she uses as an additional countertop. You can fit a ton of homemade or store-bought slim TV dinner trays in it vertically for quick & easy meals!
Tried to buy one of those 7CF freezers recently from Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, all were back-ordered over a month. Sucks because since I work for a food distributor I get super low prices, cost + 10%.

I'm wondering why brisket is not suffering the same shortage as clods. People can also easily grind up brisket to make ground beef.
We're moving briskets at a decent pace, kinda pricey for grinds since it's so popular with BBQ joints. Also a lot more fat than clods too, clods are usually around 85% lean, we then add in bench trimmings. I think some of the BBQ spots that are still open are protecting themselves from possibly running out when things finally open up. all this is so uncharted territory.

How is everyone dealing with the crisis of the shortage of tissues? With all the at-home fapping during this quarantine it's essential that we ramp up production immediately!

I'm facing a severe fapping shortage too, it's just not as much fun when you're at home. No danger of getting caught and not getting paid to do it is a real turn-off. I'm saving myself for a marathon once this blows over.

If Tyson is being relieved of liability then upon whom is this liability being foisted? The workers? The taxpayers? Liability doesn't vanish; it gets shifted.
Taxpayers, in a situation where the government uses the defense production act the facility forced to remain open will be absolved of liability, I'm not sure if it's shifted to the government or just vanishes. Of course no one can be forced to work for a specific employer, but usually these large processing plants are the #1 employer in that area, they tend to be in rural locations so just up and quitting, (specially now with rampant unemployment) would not be a viable option for most.

There's probably a genre of porn with buffering delays built in as a feature, rule 34 and all that.

That act allows processors to operate without fear from worker lawsuits, the question then becomes can anyone legally force workers into unsafe working conditions and threaten termination if non compliant?. From the article enhanced testing and protective gear will be provided, an IBP, (now Tyson) employee had complained they were given rags as protective gear and told to keep working.

Oh no! Not termination.. whatever will you do with your unemployment and additional $600/week?

I'm reading reports run on meats have started and many stores like Sam's and Costco are limiting meat to 1 item each. Even wholesalers like Restaurant Depot are being cleaned out. It seems all the fear mongering of meat shortage by the Main St. media have caused actual run on meat. People are hoarding because they think there will be shortage. So that becomes self fulling phophecy.

We haven't been hit too hard, (yet), but then again we don't just sell to anyone, you have to have an account previously set up to buy anything. My boss is getting killed on stuff like crab legs, he like to buy in bulk for the best price, now the price of crab legs has plummeted because few restaurants are open to buy them. Once everything opens back up he will be selling them at substantial loss. If he tries to keep prices high he will get priced out of the market.

Interesting about the crab legs. I haven't thought of that. Costco around me still have 4/7 size king crab legs for $26 /lb which is their normal price. It's almost time for me to buy another 10 lb box since I only have like 2 pound left from my last box. Cold water lobster tail is still $25 /lb as well.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/28/trump-says-will-sign-order-on-virus-related-liability-problems.html

Trump plans to sign an order to keep the meatpacking plants open. Maybe this is what Tyson wanted with their ad placement.
100% certain that is what they wanted. They knew an outbreak would occur and the only way to keep their guys working would be to cry wolf and say if they closed the whole poultry supply chain would be devastated. They wanted that president order.

Not exactly related to the thread topic, but BUTCH1 can you explain why California always has so much tri tip available? From what I understand there are only two on an entire cow, yet it seems like 25% of the meat for sale at a store is tri tip. Does CA just tri tip shipped in from across the country to meet demand?

Sure, the Tri-tip is used a lot in the Latino community, pretty sure it's for fajitas and there is a large Latino community in parts of CA . Don't care for Tri-tip myself, OK for a slow cooker or braising I guess.

Yea, we carry 2lb pack of cooked cold water lobster meat, vac-packed and ready to go. The price has only dropped $2, from $33/lb to $31. I was thinking a monster Lobster Mac and cheese!.

So I was at the local Costco yesterday, Cedar Park, TX.

I saw the usual fish, crab, and beef. However, there weren't that many pork options, and no chicken at all. Wife thought it had to do with the supply chain issue. But I used my Walmart and HEB apps, and saw they have chicken there.

Fish and crab would not be affected at all since most fish that is frozen is processed at sea or in China, beef and pork might be an issue, it depends if people go nuts and start to hoard or not.

I feel the need to add that fapping is one of the few things there's been no shortage of around here whatsoever!

:p
LOL, so true, geez these kids have it so good today, when I was 14-15 all we had was old Playboy magazines. At least the music was a shit-ton better, I'd rather you crack a pool-cue across my skull then force me to listen to just one hour of rap.

Now 1 in 5 Wendy's have no beef, others are limiting burgers to one single Pattie per customer. Cysco is also out of pork, about 6 weeks ago my boss brought in 500cs of butt's for a customer who then failed to buy them, we've sold about 250cs in the last 3 days. We're going into the secondary market for ground beef and it's still hard to find. Wendy's problem is they only source fresh pattie's and through one supplier only, now their kinda fucked.

Imagine how many fewer obese people we'd have if fast food places had been doing that for the last 20 years.
That would honestly be incredibly stupid, because the burger pattie is literally the healthiest thing in a fast food bag.

The fries, burger buns, and big gulp soda are hands down worse. It's not even a discussion.

Meat is actually incredibly healthy. It's the other shit people pair with it that makes it unhealthy.
