Wow that ending. Right at the moment Eichorst has been waiting all this time for, then that happens to him. Glad to see Quinlan did in fact survive too, though I was 95% sure he was fine. Awesome episode overall, can't wait for the finale.

Which weasel surviving are you referring to? Didn't watch the show and waiting really to binge watch the whole thing once the tv series is done.
Yeah, Augustin 'Gus' Elizalde.
He really hasn't done anything of value this season, just complain about everything, get more people killed (for trying to save his vamp-mom) and so on.

BTW, what is it with Dutch sleeping around with all the guys/gals anyway? Who is next, Abraham?
I am also glad that Zack wasn't seen the entire episode, I sure hope it stays that way for the next episode as well.

Book:

Well since Dutch isn't in the books, can't answer that one at all.

Gus in the books later on gets people killed trying to keep his mom alive as a vampire. He keeps her locked up in the basement of ruined library the "Resistance" is using as a base without letting anyone know his mother is down there. The resistance is the rest of the humans that are still humans after the nuclear fallout aftermath. Of which there end up being three types of humans. Sympathizers that help "run" various food processing places for the vamps, Humans in the resistance fighting meagerly against the vamps, and the last group which is just meat/slaves 🙂

Quinlan and Zack in the books are both alive until the very end as they both have a part to play. Father + Son against Father + Son symmetry crap.

BrokenVisage - nope.

I've already seen people griping about "one nuclear bomb wouldn't cause a worldwide blackout" but that's something they can fix with a voiceover next year.

Pleasantly surprised that
Setrakian did not die, as he did at the end of book two.

That kid... I am at a loss of words on how idiotic he is.
Nuke goes off, Master escapes, the voice is back.
If the "jammer" worked, then why was it that it didn't phase Quinlan at all?
I also don't see the point of the nuke at the Statue of Liberty? Why a nuke, instead of regular explosives? I supposed it is meant to be symbolic, but it was pretty stupid as well. You would think the Master would use it to get rid of any other resistance.
Now to wait for next season to end this show.

I do not know why writers feel the need to write someone into every show that is the live embodiment of Jar Jar Binks. That kid needed to have the shit kicked out of him them be padlocked in a holding cell. Instead, now we have him walking around with his incredibly good decision making skills and a killer Labrador retriever. "Hey Spot! Go fetch me that guys windpipe! Good dog...."

God seriously fuck that kid, talk about the ultimate emo "I HATE YOU" reaction. F-.

Yeah no kidding. The worst part is that it's totally unbelievable. That's what I hate most about the way these writers write. What total fucking imbecile would go along with his vamped out mom, Nazi SS officer, and a pet blood sucker. He's not just a conflicted kid... I mean I can't see ANY kid being that stupid. Then.... at the end there..... it just made no sense at all.

Bingo. I was happy to suspend logic and put aside thoughts that made sense when it comes to the strigoi and other things, but that whole scene with the kid including Eph staying back to stitch up a simple wound was just... lame, so very lame.

I'm not justifying the story as it's pretty weak... but I got the impression that all of them, the Master, his mother and Eichorst were programming him off camera. They did show a few scenes where the Mother was attempting to explain and teach Zack that they were the good guys and his father was the messed up one. I'm not saying they way they went about it wasn't stupid, but I got the feeling that the kid was already turned by this point (turned as in mentally, not a vamp) and Eph
killing his mother
was the final straw to move him completely over to the Master's side, whom they said in the episode that was doing it because he enjoyed making them suffer.

Starts back up Sunday.

The Strain
FX Sun, 7/16, 10:00 PM 1 hr 5 min.

P.S, that kid... ARGH, he better not be still in one piece.

At some point you have to send this kid to acting school. Or just kill him off. Probably best to kill him off, just to be sure.

You said it.
How they could make this punk a main character is mind boggling.

I was so hoping the tiger would have killed him.
