Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming
We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drumming
Four dead in Ohio

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been gone long ago
What if you knew her
Found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know

Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been gone long ago
What if you knew her and
Found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know

Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming
We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drumming
Four dead in Ohio
Four dead in Ohio
Four dead in Ohio
Four dead in Ohio
Four dead in Ohio

I'd say Sting's album Soul Cages influenced me quite a bit, but the most influencial individual song is Lily by Kate Bush. :)

The Pixies- wave of mutilation
Rock *A* Teens - black Ice
Five-Eight- god dammit Paul

SM_ the decline is a great song, you are right about that.

Don't judge a book by the cover
Unless you cover just another
And blind acceptance is a sign
of stupid fools who stand in line

Overall:

Prayer of St Francis (Let me by a channel of your peace).

Hard to find a more beautiful song praising the glory of service to others to bring peace and happiness.

When I was a kid:

I'm OK by Styx. Not a great song musically but it was helpful when I was a kid trying to decide whether or not to "sell out" and try to be a clone of everyone else.

If I could stand beside myself
Would I see me or maybe someone else
Cause its hard to please most everyone
When your spirit got you on the run, on the run

They say do your best, but don't cause a fuss
Just fit in be like the rest of us
But I can see the tide is turning fast
And I know that I can't last another day, not another day

Cause, I'm OK
Finally, found the person I;ve been looking for
I'm alright, feeling good about myself and that's for sure

Cause I believed then when they said I must do things there way
They tried to cast in me in their mold but I just had to say

I'm Ok, I'm OK this way yes I'm OK

  • The Supermen
    by David Bowie 1971
    • When all the world was very young
      And mountain magic heavy hung
The supermen would walk in file
      Guardians of a loveless isle
And gloomy browed with superfear their tragic endless lives
      Could heave nor sigh
In solemn, perverse serenity, wondrous beings chained to life

Strange games they would play then
No death for the perfect men
Life rolls into one for them
      So softly a supergod cries

Where all were minds in uni-thought
      Power weird by mystics taught
No pain, no joy, no power too great
Colossal strength to grasp a fate
Where sad-eyed mermen tossed in slumbers
Nightmare dreams no mortal mind could hold
A man would tear his brother's flesh, a chance to die
      To turn to mold.

      Far out in the red-sky
Far out from the sad eyes
      Strange, mad celebration
      So softly a supergod cries

      Far out in the red-sky
Far out from the sad eyes
      Strange, mad celebration
      So softly a supergod dies...

Don't Call Me White NOFX

Don't Call Me White
don't call me white, don't call me white
don't call me white, don't call me white
the connotations wearing my nerves thin
could it be semantics generating the mess we're in?
I understand that language breeds stereotype
but what's the explanation for the malice, for the spite?
don't call me white, don't call me white
don't call me white, don't call me white
I wasn't brought here, I was born
circumcised, categorized, allegiance sworn
does this mean I have to take such shlt
for being fair skinned? No!
I ain't a part of no conspiracy, i'm just you're average joe
don't call me white, don't call me white
don't call me white, don't call me white
represents everything I hate
the soap shoved in the mouth to cleanse the mind
the vast majority of sheep
a buttoned collar, starched and bleached
constricting veins, the blood flow to the brain slows
they're so fvckin ordinary white
don't call me white, don't call me white
don't call me white, don't call me white
oh, we're better off this way?
Oh, say what you're gonna say
so go ahead and label me an asshole
'cause I can
accept responsibility for what i've done
but not for who I am
don't call me white, don't call me white
don't call me white, don't call me white

OR
A love ballad

STICK THE FVCKING FLAG UP YOUR GODDAMN ASS, YOU SONOFABITCH (Not to be gender-specific, of course!)

My father told me "Son it's futile to resist.
You can topple the ideology but not the armies they enlist."
I questioned the intentions of the boy scouts chanting "WAR!"
"Well, that's the sound of freedom, son", he said (free to say no more).
But wait a minute "dad", did you actually say freedom?
Well, if you're dumb enough to vote, you're BLEEPING dumb enough to believe them.

Because if this country is so goddamned free, then I can burn your fvcking flag wherever I damn well please.

I carried their anthem convinced it was mine.
Rhymeless, unreasoned conjecture kept me in line.
But then I stood back and wondered what the fvck they had done to me.
Made accomplice to all that I promised I would never be. Y
ou carry their anthem, convinced that it's yours.
Invitation to honour.
Invitation to war.
Bette Midler now assumes sainthood.
Romanticize murder for morale.
Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree my friend and "Gee, Wally. That's swell!"
Fvck the troops (Insert corny but relevant/ poignant catch phrase here).

Every Single Day by Pennywise

Can't face tomorrow with these thoughts of yesterday
I can't escape the lies and make them go away
Wish I had the answers to help me make it through
Can't shake these images no matter what I do
I guess I'll use them to make a stronger man
I'll use each twisted tortured memory to help me understand
And I will learn from mistakes that everyone makes- I've got to find a way
I guess I'll have to live with them- every single day

I don?t know if I can pick just one. I?ll start with:

Poiema, by Michael Card

Life is a song we must sing with our days
A lyric with meaning more than words can say
A painting with colors no rainbow can tell
A lyric that rhymes either heaven or hell

So look in the mirror
And pray for the grace
To take off the mask
See the art of your face

God shapes every minute
Of our little lives
And minds every moment
As the universe waits by

The pain and the longing
The joy and the moments of strife
Are the rhythm and rhyme
The free verse of the poem of life

I got a few here....

Balcony Beach- Lateef the Truth Speaker & Lyrics Born aka Latyrx
Chorus ooo baby
We can make it happen
Make it through baby
All we need to do is begin rejuvenating
Keep it all in focus and pursue it faithfully
Do it patiently
Lyrics Born-Just the way the sea's been this evening
I came out at eight, was leaning on the railing
I kept hearing the waves crashin' beneath me
Back and forth
They just rephrased what they were saying
Over and over, doing that repeatedly
Crash, come back
Its just a constant thing
Every time they'd back out to sea
Its like they'd draw just a little more out of me
A lot of images and feelings
Just a limitless release
And I began to reminisce freely
It was a cinema
Featuring me and a cast of emotions
That demanded my attention immediately
I had previously put them on hold
On the back burner since earlier
I didn't want to deal with it
At that time I felt like other things were pertinent
Now I see its permanent unless I get real with it
And it ain't that I don't love to tussle
Especially mentally
'Cause I generally do win
Might not win at first, but definitely eventually
'Cause I ain't never not been a shoe-in since birth
But now, this is special though
See, this is beyond my threshold
I'm accustomed to just a conventional struggle
With two opponents
Only here the tussle's between you and the truth
So ultimately I'm gonna lose
Actually I gain though
I gotta be honest with myself, or else
I impede my personal progress
I think it's better to be depressed for a minute
Admit it, and get re-oriented
Instead of being a bitter cynic isn't it?

Chorus
I'm getting older
Everybody around me acts all sober
Lookin' poker faced
I started losing hair at the corners
Matter-of-fact, I looked up top
That whole border's just jacked
Nobody's gonna chauffeur me anymore
Whatever this is, we all go through it I guess
It's just awkward
I'm not a hundred percent comfortable with
The rate that everything's developing at
It's just a little overwhelming at times
I'm dealing with hella sh!t to process
It's new data daily
There's really no preparing for this thing
Or, maybe it's mainly just me acting strangely
Just me facing the challenge
I doubt it though
'Cause I met thousands of people
Seen something similar in their faces
It's like the outlook is changing
I think it's called bein' a man in the making
It's burnt, I like pralines now
Long walks solo,
where I can sort my thoughts out
Just what I've been taught to date
It doesn't gel well with the way that I've been feeling these days
That's coming from a ton of angles, hella places
I'm really not trying to make a political statement
But just in terms of internally inside
I'm at an interval in life where it's a turbulent time
And I could pretend that it's all good
And that I shouldn't put so much on it
Let it sit and just settle itself
Stop acting all sobby and sentimental
Besides everything's perfectly fine
But here I am on this balcony
With my thoughts just traveling randomly on some tangent
And in the back of my mind
I keep hearing this lady
Her voice is beautiful, she keeps saying
Mooo baby
We can make it happen
Make it
through baby
All we need to do is begin rejuvenating
Keep it all in
focus and pursue it faithfully
Do it patiently

Stakes is High- De La Soul
POS:
The instamatic focal point bringing damage to your boroughs
Be some brothers from the east with some beats that be thorough
Got the solar gravitation so I'm bound to pull it
I gets down like brothers are found ducking from bullets
Gun control means using both hands in my land
Where it's all about the cautious livin'
Migrating to a higher form of consequence, compliments
Of strugglin', that shouldn't be notable,
Man every word I say should be a hip hop quotable.

DOVE:
I'm sick of bitches shakin' asses
I'm sick of talkin' about blunts,
Sick of Versace glasses,
Sick of slang,
Sick of half-ass awards shows,
Sick of name brand clothes.
Sick of R&B bitches over bullsh!t tracks,
Cocaine and crack
Which brings sickness to blacks,
Sick of swoll' head rappers
With their sicker-than raps
Clappers and gats
Makin' the whole sick world collapse
The facts are gettin' sick
Even sicker perhaps
Stickabush to make a bundle to escape this synapse

POS:
Man life can get all up in your ass baby you betta work it out
Let me tell you what it's all about
A skin not considered equal
A meteor has more right than my people
Who be wastin' time screaming who they've hated
That's why the Native Tongues have officially been re-instated

(Vibes....vibrations)
Stakes is high
(Higher than high)
You know them stakes is high
(Higher than high)
When we talkin' 'bout the
(Vibes....vibrations)
Stakes is high, you know them stakes is high
When we dealin' with the
(Vibes....vibrations)
Stakes is high
(Hey yo, what about that love?)

POS:
Yo, it's about love for cars, love for funds
Loving to love mad sex, loving to love guns
Love for opposite, love for fame and wealth
Love for the fact of no longer loving yourself, kid
We living in them days of the man-made ways
Where every aspect is vivid,
these brothers no longer talk sh!t
Hey yo, these niggas live it
'Bout to give it to you 24/7 on the microphone
Plug One translating the zone
No offense to a player, but yo, I don't play
And if you take offense, fvck it, got to be that way
J.D. Dove, show your love, what you got to say?

DOVE:
I say G's are making figures at a high regard
And niggas dying for it nowadays ain't odd
Investing in fantasies and not God
Welcome to reality, see times is hard
People try to snatch the credit, but can't claim the card
Showing out in videos, saying they co-stars
See, sh!t like that will make your mama cry
Better watch the way you spend it
'Cause the stakes is high

Y'all know them stakes is high
When we talkin' 'bout the
(Vibes....vibrations)
Stakes is high

I think that smiling in public is against the law
'Cause love don't get you through life no more
It's who you know and "How you, son?"
And how you gettin' in, and who the man holding
Hey yo, and how was the scams and how high
Yo what up, huh? I heard you caught a body
Seem like every man and woman shared a life with John Gotti

POS:
But they ain't organized!

DOVE:
Mixing crimes with life enzymes
Taking the big scout route
And niggas know doubt better
Than they know their daughters
And their sons
(Oh boy)

POS:
Yo, people go through pain and still don't gain
Positive contact just like my main man
Who got others cleaning up his physicals and fluids
His mind got congested
He got the nine and blew it

Neighborhoods are now hoods cause nobody's neighbors
Just animals surviving with that animal behavior
Under I who be rhyming from dark to light sky
Experiments when needles and skin connect
No wonder where we live is called the projects
When them stakes is high you damn sure try to do
Anything to get the piece of the pie
Electrify
Even die for the cash
But at last I be out even though you wantin' more
This issue is closed like an elevator door
But soon re-opened once we get to the next floor where the

Y'all know them stakes is high
When we talkin' 'bout the

Stakes is high
Stakes is high, come on

Badfish- Sublime
When you grab a hold of me Tell
me that I'll never be set free
I'm a parasite,
creep and crawl I step into the night.
Two pints of booze
Tell me are you a badfish too? Are you a badfish too?
Ain't got no money to spend
I know the night will never end
Lord knows I'm weak
Won't somebody get me off of this reef

Baby your a big blue whale
Grab the reef when all duck diving fails
I swim but wish I never learned
The water's too polluted with germs
I dive deep when it's ten feet overhead
Grab the reef underneath my bed
Ain't got no quarrels with god Ain't got no time to grow old
Lord knows I'm weak
Won't somebody get me off of this reef

Ain't got no quarrels with God Ain't got no time to grow old
Lord knows I'm weak
Won't somebody get me off of this reef

KRS-One- Sublime
In school they never taught 'bout hamburgers or steak,
Elijah Muhammad or the welfare state.
But I know.
And I know because of KRS-ONE.
Yeah and I know
And I know because of KRS-ONE.

Because he's droppin', droppin', droppin' science, droppin history
With a whole leap of style and intelligency
Yes, I know.
I know because of KRS-ONE
Yeah, and I know
I know because of KRS-ONE.

Because we don't want to pay money to hear the same old sounds.
Watch him, he'll take hip-hop to a higher ground.
And I know
(How do I know?)
And I know because of KRS-ONE.
Yeah, and I know
And I know because of KRS-ONE.

And I know
And I know because of KRS-ONE.
And I know
And I know

We're Only Gonna Die- Bad Religion

Were Only Gonna Die For Our Own Arrogance
Early man walked away
As modernman took control
There mind's weren't all the same
And to conquer was their goal
So he built his great empire
And he slaughtered his own kind
He died a confused man
And killed himself in his own mind
(repeat)

Were only gonna die for our own arrogance,
so we might as well take our time.

Saw Red- Sublime f/ Gwen Stefani I was fortunate to be able to see these two perform this song live, a definite highlight of my concert going career.

(Gwen)
Every day I love him a little bit more,
a little bit more, a little bit more.
Every day I love him just a little bit more,
and he loves me the same.

(Brad)
Every day I love her a little bit more,
a little bit more, a little bit more,
Every day I love her just a little bit more,
and she loves me the same.

(both)
Baby if ya wanna get on, baby if ya wanna get off.
It makes no sense at all, I saw red. I saw red. I saw red.
One more secret lover that I shot dead.

(Brad)
Every day I wake up, just a little bit more,
feelin' like a dog in the yard because it's just how we are.

(Gwen)
And every day I wonder if it's over,
when I wake up I realize no it isn't, and break down the wall.

(Brad)
You say it's black but I just can't believe you.

(Gwen)
And if I say it's white say I'm just trying to deceive you.

(Brad)
And baby, I'm aware of the high and the low,
and I'll be waiting in the middle, but I just lack control.

(both)
Baby if ya wanna get low, baby if ya wanna get high.
It makes no sense at all, I saw red. I saw red.
One more secret lover that I shot dead.

(Brad)
Girls don't go crazy, girls don't go crazy, oh girls don't crazy when the
men use you.

(Gwen)
Women hold your men tight, if it makes you feel all right , It's your own life.

Pool Shark- Sublime in this song Bradley predicted his death
Lying in my plastic bed,
thinking how thinking how things weren't so cool me.
My baby likes to shoot pool,
I like lying naked in my bedroom, tying off that dinosaur tonight,
it used to be so cool.

Now I got that needle, I can bleed, but I can't breathe.
Take it away, but I want more and more.
One day I'm gonna loose the war.

The Malachi Crunch- NOFX
Did you get that rush, that feeling, adrenalin pumping through your veins?
A lifeless body in the gutter, city streets are stained
How do you rationalize, what do you see in your reflection?
A kid just having fun, A soldiers bloodied boot impression
One for all and all for one, especially when it's ten on one
You don't care what you're doing, you know it sure is fun

If it happened to your mother would you laugh so hard?
Well, that was someones son or brother
That you kicked so hard

This time you went too far
What's the matter, don't you feel alright?
Do you feel remorse?
Or are the handcuffs on a little too tight?

Now that your friends are gone, you've got no defense, no protection
5 or 6 times a day you receive your hot beef injection
I hope every time you're cornholed terror fills your mind
The one emotion you have inspired one too many times.

I could probably list these for days, but I gots to go home now, bye.

"Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough" by Patty Smyth and Don Henley

Now, I don't want to lose you, but I don't want to use you
just to have somebody by my side.
And I don't want to hate you,
I don't want to take you, but I don't want to be the one to cry.

And that don't really matter to anyone anymore.
But like a fool I keep losing my place
and I keep seeing you walk through that door.

Chorus:
But there's a danger in loving somebody too much,
and it's sad when you know it's your heart you can't trust.
There's a reason why people don't stay where they are.
Baby, sometimes, love just aint enough.

Now, I could never change you, I don't want to blame you.
Baby, you don't have to take the fall.
Yes, I may have hurt you, but I did not desert you.
Maybe I just want to have it all.

It makes a sound like thunder, it makes me feel like rain.
And like a fool who will never see the truth,
I keep thinking something's gonna change.

Chorus

And there's no way home, when it's late at night and you're all alone.
Are there things that you wanted to say?
And do you feel me beside you in your bed,
there beside you, where I used to lay?

And there's a danger in loving somebody too much,
and it's sad when you know it's your heart they can't touch.
There's a reason why people don't stay who they are.
Baby, sometimes, love just ain't enough.

Baby, sometimes, love... it just ain't enough.
Oh, Oh, Oh, No.

song 2 describe me?
Donna Lewis -I love you always forever,
Because when I get my mind set on somthing I put 976% of my heart into it, and thats what that song is about. And thats how I feel about my girl friend.
