You Simpsons fans have reason to be excited this morning. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has just announced that The Simpsons: Season One will arrive as a DVD boxed set on September 25th (SRP $39.98). All 13 first-year episodes will be included on the set's 3 discs, along with the episode scripts, audio commentary for each episode, early sketches, magazine covers, stills and more. Best of all, you'll get the original shorts that first appeared on The Tracey Ullman Show, along with a never-before-seen lost episode. I don't really think that's too much for a 3 disc set with 13 episodes, the shorts, commentary, scripts, etc. Besides, who ever buys a DVD for MSRP?!

Real Player quality can't compare to DVD...pfffft. I have maybe 80 or so Simpson eps in Real Player and Quicktime format but I'm for sure gonna buy all these seasons. I heard season 2 before christmas? So maybe a season every few months...

damn you people are so cheap. the x-files sets have 25 episodes... about 45 minutes each, so about 19 hours of x-files goodness then another disc of extras... 7 frickin' DVDs...and the sets cost less than $100... in fact if you pre-order them they were going for as low as $77 a set. DAMNIT...this is a GOOD FRIGGIN DEAL!
