The Simpsons Cancelled?

I was watching the Simpsons on Fox just now and at the end of the episode there was a news preview for tonight. In the preview they said that "the Simpsons' long and wild ride has finally come to an end. We'll tell you more at 9...."

From what I gather, they are saying that the Simpsons will be no more... Are they for real!? That would seriously suck!

Anyone else hear about this?
 
it's had a good run. actually some of the newer stuff has been quite funny, but it is time to say goodbye. in 20 years we'll get to see it re-done as a live action movie or something...
 
Damnit, I'm not watching Fox anymore. They f-ed up the schedule. No more That 70s Show or King of the Hill. WTF! They replaced it with some stupid show about families living together, and Malcom in the Middle.
 
i was hoping that something would come along that was better than Simpsons before it ended. Well it hasn't happened so I hope Simpsons continues. Family Guy, Futurama, South Park are close but not quite.

Compared to the rest of the shows on television, the last few seasons have still kept it in the top 3 in my books. It's not as good as it once was, but it's still a good show that I have always liked to watch. It will be very sad if it is indeed going away. 🙁

hmm just curious, where do you separate Old Simpsons from New Simpsons? this year, this past 2 years, past 3?

I said that I heard it on the preview for Fox News at 9 that came on right after the Simpsons epidsode earlier. It was the Fox News in Houston, TX that was talking about it, and I have looked on Fox 26's News website (NOTHING at all there on anything... check for yourself), Fox's main site, Fox's main News site, and a couple of other places, and haven't seen anything else on it yet (I also checked the Simpson's website). Like I said, I haven't verified what the story is really about yet. I only hope that what I gathered from the preview to the story (stated in the first post above) is not true.

Whoever lives in Houston, TX and is curious as to what is going on, please watch Fox 26 news tonight, because I won't be home (I have to work), but I will be recording it via Tivo. Anyone who sees what it's about, please post ASAP!
 
i know harry shearer (sp?) has been complaining about it for a while.
however, he is pretty much complaining about things all the time. thats his job!
but im pretty sure he was putting pressure on the rest of the cast to walk away from it.
