Okay, not enough threads about biking here.

MTB. Trek 6500 and a Rocky Mountain element race.
Built by myself (not the Trek) with new and used parts. Frame from eBay.
A blast to ride. The Trek is now 'demoted' to commutier duty.

The road baby.
'03 S-Works. Got the frame from eBay for $500 (killer deal) the rest of the parts are new.
A joy to ride, even if I $uck LOL! More miles are needed. Just got a slightly longer stem to try out. I get the feeling it's a bit short now.

I know that, I was just alluding to the fact that I don't have any money for more bikes right now. I used to have an FSR but sold it because it was so heavy (~31lb). I do miss mountain bike riding, though. :(

Ride on. I'll be moving out to VA next week. Hopefully there are many nice trails. The road riding should be better than AZ.

I have ridden all over the place, but the last time I was doing a lot of MTB riding was when I lived in Oklahoma City - there are a surprising number of rolling trails there. My favorite MTB riding has mostly been in the Sierra Nevada in central California, though I have also had a lot of fun in northern Wisconsin, at Chequamegon. Lately I have been leaving my MTB at the office and sneaking off for lunchtime rides - there are some not-bad trails near work.

MTB3 soon to be getting a new wheel set with white Velocity VXC rims, XTR grey sealed bearing disk drake hubs and black double butted spokes, silver alloy nipples too of course! ;) It also now sports one of these that wasn't on there when these pics were taken. :)

I contacted Serotta to ask what it would cost to add disc brake bosses to my bike, and they said it would require an entire new rear triangle, at a cost of $1500. I think I will stick to V-brakes for the time being . . .

Yeah, Serotta make brilliant bikes IMO, but they definitely maintain a pricing structure that doesn't let you forget they are a premium brand. Actually it's an interesting contrast with Moots, who built my road bike. I asked them what it would cost to add a pump peg to my frame and they said $40 - I would bet my eyeteeth that Serotta would charge a minimum of $200. In spite of Moots' working-class ethic, I tend to think my Moots is the better-built of the two bikes, albeit by a small margin. Their welder appears not to breathe, and the welds are just amazing.

Still, I wish I could afford a custom-painted Serotta Ottrott ST with full Dura-Ace 10-speed like Senator Kerry. For any non-bike geeks, that is a $7-8000 bicycle. Apparenly he also has a Colorado III with Campy.
