The Shield is an incredible series

I've never seen the show before, but a friend of mine hooked me up with the Season 1 DVD.

Absolutely incredible. I highly recommend to anyone into law enforcement shows like 24.

I swear its almost as addicting as Lost. If Lost was a 10 on the addictiveness scale, then The Shield is a 9.5.

Never seen an episode. Maybe I gotta rent it. What season are they at now?

I think they're upto Season 5 I think.

It's worth watching from Season 1 tho.
It's a great series.

One of if not the best series on television.

As much as I enjoy 24, this past season of the Shield (5) deserved Best Drama Series.

Season Five has completed with an incredible finale that has to be seen to be believed. The show has been picked up for two more seasons.

I've been telling people this fact for ages.

I still don't understand why the 24 thread is larger than the shield one.

I watched several episodes of season 1 and the plot seemed to just drag. There didn't seem to be any kind of central plot that the events were centered on. Should I give it more time or is this just not my type of show? I started watching 24 last season and really liked it.

I had bought several Season One disc sets as blind buys after finding them on sale for $14.99 each. The Shield and 24 were two of those purchases. I started watching 24 first and was immediately hooked. I watched all of the 1st season in a weekend and was ready for more. I didn't actually start watching The Shield until after the fourth season of 24. The Shield may be somewhat more realistic although I really love 24 in spite of the dumb plot twists at times. If Tony Soprano were a cop he'd be Vic Mackey of The Shield.

A central plot does begin to develop as the series progresses. It may not be your type of show, but I would seriously consider giving it another shot.

Need to try out the rest of FX's shows while your at it. They are all great but The Shield and Rescue Me are tied for their best.

I haven't checked out Nip Tuck and 30 days yet, what do you think of those?

I love Rescue Me, The Shiled and Over There (cancelled). Sunny in Philly is ok.

Nip Tuck is good. a bit wierd but then most of the FX shows are. I never bothered to watch 30 days. Doesn't interest me. Starved is another one that got canned that thought it was pretty good.

After catching up with the rest of the series, you'll likely bump Lost down to 9.5 and The Shield to 10.

That's good to hear. I'm addicted to it now since I'm close to done for the first season.
