I was talking to a friend of mine about what movie to go see, and we decided upon NARC.

Anyway, I mentioned Stephen King, and he replied that he couldn?t stand any of his movie.

I said, ?What? You did not like The Shawshank Redemption?!?

And he said, ?No. That piece of garbage was way too depressing.?

He had only seen the first little part of the movie on TV and turned it off.

I think I will show him this thread, so don?t put any spoilers in here, please.
 
Shawshank is one of my favorite movies, one of teh best out there, its not depressing. it has a happy ending
 
Unbelievable movie. Absolutely amazing. Anyone who doesn't watch past the first few minutes and turns it off because it's "depressing doesn't deserve to watch it"
Or maybe that's not what you want to hear? 😉
No seriously, go watch it.
 
He's right in a way. It is a very dark story throghout much of it although it's definitely one of the best films in the last 10 years or so as far as universal appeal goes. You can sit down with somebody from almost any age group (except little children) and everyone in the room will enjoy it.
 
i've never seen prison rape before and thought i would catch a glimpse of it in this movie...sadly that guy got has a$$ kicked instead of getting a$$ fvcked
 
It's a great movie. Some people want to make mad love to it and though I don't want to do that at least a little fondling is in order. It's a fine movie and although much of it is depressing it takes a turn for the better at the end.

I would have to agree that The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I even believe the movie was better than the original book/story. FYI, it's 1 of 4 stories in the book Different Seasons. Other movies based on stories from this book are Stand By Me and Apt Pupil. I've never seen Apy Pupil but Stand By Me was good. 🙂

It has its ups and downs, but I think its a great movie. Tell your friend to live through the movie and he many gain a new impression of it.
