Supposedly this will have a booth at GamesCom. Hopefully we find out some info that determins whether this is worth passing up TOR and waiting for. Or if it will be SO far in the future that I could go ahead and play TOR.

I thought beta was live, but you needed a Facebook account for it. Or at least beta signups were definitely live.

Warzones? Any idea about regular world PvP?

There will be 3 battlefields, and 1 "warzone". The warzone is a large persistent open pvp area (persistent meaning that it doesn't reset, the faction controlling it opens up buffs/items for the entire faction, no timers/time limit, and it is not instanced).

There will be no specific PvP gear, nor will there be any PvP specific resllience or anything like that. I'm hoping this means that the battlefield will literally be mini-games, and not some kind of gear grind that takes away from the open pvp zone.

EDIT: Since the warzone is persistent, there will also be up to the factions to bring the numbers. That means if the Illuminati control it with 50 people, and the Dragon only have 10, then the Templars can help out the Dragon with numbers and bring 50 members or so (or turn on them at the objective).

EDIT 2: Sorry, to be specific in answering your question, there will be no open PvP outside of the warzone area and battlefields. There will be only 1 server type, not separated PvE and PvP servers.

ah, probably giving this game a pass then, unless it's insanely good as an MMO outside of PvP. Which is possible...

Consensual-only PvP is not what I'm looking for, sorry, Funcom.

Seems like it would be better as a single player game.

The trailers look good.
The gameplay looks horrible.... Gonna predict it falls flat on its face.

I'm with Ark....has promise but game play oh man. I predict WOW meets the Sims.

Aeriously right? I watched a few of the trailers and they are absolutly badass.

They should make a animated movie instead, they might make a better product of it,
judgeing by that gameplay/pvp video linked above.

This game does look promising.

You mean the concept right? and the trailers? not the actual gameplay videos?

^ this....

GW2 (though even that game looks to have a few flaws) still beats the crap outta this game, going by gameplay videos ect. With GW2 its the small stuff.... like adding a few raid bosses/instances in a expansion, and doing abit of itemisation work. Easy stuff.

SecretWorld just looks like a mess, from gameplay videos.

I had issues with SW-TOR, as well though (just looking at gameplay videos), but that was mostly about character animations/interface/crafting system ect. I looked at videos and though, this is abit disappointing, so I didnt jump on the bandwagon for this game either.
However that game seems to be doing really well (its starwars, geeks love that sh*t so not surprised though).

Secretworld doesnt have a franchise, comicbooks/animated series/movies/book series, behinde it though, or millions and millions of fans. If they launch a bad product it ll flop, and it looks like it will, going by gameplay video.

My guess?
WoW/SW-TOR/GW2... hell even AION, will have more players secretworld ever will.

this is classic DAOC RvR type pvp. i've always thought having 3 factions in pvp makes things SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more interesting.

i am now wetting my pants with excitement.

I seem to recall GW2 will be lacking in PvP...anyone know for sure if it will have PvP servers?
It will be server vs server, so there will be NO pve servers (as I understand it).

GW2 looks to be intirely pvp focused, or atleast more so than pve. Lacking in pvp? not really.

About "SW-TOR" though... I heard pvp is a mess in that game :p

Balanceing is out of wack, and they had some bugs that made 1 faction beat the crap out of the other with ease
(and got godly pvp gears fast, so other faction has it really tough atm).
Also the engine the game world is in, struggles when many people gather for pvp, so ontop of all that its a lag fest.

I meant to say lacking in open world PvP, able to attack other people on your server.

Server vs server? Let me guess...instanced warfronts?

Or can you invade other servers and take over their cities? I'm guessing just warfronts...

GW2 will have a ton of PvP.

Just like GW1. (each additional campaign focused more and more on PvP)--the PvE campaigns tended to push one towards PvP quite a bit.

I don't care though; I hate PvP. :p
