LOL! but seriously this thread needs to die a slow horrible death!
Before it's gone, I just want to rant about how pathetic Star Wars really is. It's a disgrace to the Sci-Fi genre, because it's FANTASY, NOT Sci-Fi! :|

I hated using the blasters in Jedi Knight 2!

They were so innacurate, you really did have to lead the target a LOT to get a hit. Other weapons were fine though, and the saber battles were fun:)

And yeah I know Star Wars has magic (force) and is therefore not based anywhere near this reality, but the Star Wars is close enough to being set in this universe that it should still adhere to some physical rules.

1)I keep having to lead moving targets while using a LASER rifle from 30 ft. away.

b)The laser "bolt" should get to the target almost instantaneously.

a)How is it that you can SEE a laser bolt coming toward you? That would mean that the bolt is emitting light that somehow travels faster than light to reach your eye before the actual laser does.

2)Lightsaber Duels=WTF

a)Lightsabers themselves are mysterious in that they emit a laser and then have it arbitrarily stop at some convenient point. I've always thought about lightsabers as being lasers contained by a force field of some sort which can only interact with this mysterious glowing laser energy stuff. Which means that the forcefield only interacts with lasers and other lightsabers, and all other things pass through it to get f-ed up by the laser.

b)Lightsaber duels are MUCH too slow. You're using a weapon with a WEIGHTLESS BLADE that can CUT THROUGH ANYTHING! Therefore the strength of a blow is irrelevant (F=MA, M=very small), and there should be no swinging motions at all. Lightsaber technique should consist of a sort of fencing style except faster due to the lack of weight. In fact, the style should be almost exactly analogous to competitive fencing in which a touch would equal a kill. Expanding on this analogy, lightsaber duels should be over in seconds as most touches are scored within seconds, and also more often than not, the winner would not escape unscathed due to momentum.

That's all I can think of off the top of head, but there are probably a gajillion more...

1: It not a laser gun it's a blaster gun. You not firing a laser beam but a bolt of superheated gases(plasma) the glow of the bolt is a byproduct of the plasma.

2: The official explanation why the saber terminates at the a certain point is that the focusing crystal bends the beam back upon itself at a set point. Don't know why jedi use kendo instead of fencing, I'll just go with it looks cooler on screen.
