beginning of the end, or end of the end, do I need to say more?A perfect encapsulation of what Conservatism is now
My evangelical grade school education repeatedly talked about a very simlar scene in Exodus. Those same people are cheering stuff like this on. Apparently they've decided it was a model not a cautionary tale.
People always saying (gleefully) that the GOP is about to die, any day now.. Bush with his wild spending and (eventually) unpopular war. What happened? They won mayorly many times after that! The Republican party is NOT as divided as people think. The vast majority is just converting to a fascist Trump party, with a much smaller minority not going along. If only the republican party was as divided as some people say, I'd sleep much better at night.

Trump also got a record number of latino votes. Somehow doing as we've always feared and getting the generally religious, concentrated in many swing states, largest majority, further onto their side. Imagine what someone with even a slightly less nazi-ish immigration policy could do with that! (and no, not just cubans who see communists in every closet, people from mexico and south america!)
its fantastic considering how he treated them.Trump won 33% of the latino vote in 2020, a full 7 points shy of what GWB got in 2004. Not exactly what I'd call an incredible performance overall.
They only really disagree about minor points like economics, domestic policy, foreign policy, and racism. The major issue they all completely agree on, they hate Democrats.I'm just not entirely convinced the Republicans can maintain their coalition when the interests of the different parts of it seem to be diverging.

"Evil" is an ambiguous word, extremely. You it's a value judgement, an opinion. There are better words to deal in. I try not to use that word, it just leads to trouble. Unconscionable is a better word. Other words:Who are the good people?
Who are evil?
Right now just about one half of America thinks the other half is evil.
And you know what's really fuckin funny?
THAT HALF thinks the OTHER HALF is evil!!!

They represent everyone that would rather starve in the streets than vote for a filthy Democrat.

If another party came along that was a more centrist version of the GOP it would split their vote leading to Democrats winning by landslides, and that would be enough to reunify the GOP. It would probably lead the extremists in the party to have even more power in the party as it became clear event to the holdout that they either got on board the crazy train or lose to Democrats.

Obviously propaganda works much better than actually helping people.

One thing I'm grateful for and that's the fact that DJTrump is anPretty much the GOP is now transitioning into a proto-fascistic cult based around a 'charismatic' ultra-nationalistic, xenophobic, jingoistic, pathologically lying leader similar to what happened in Italy and Germany in the 1920's and 30's
Their strategy for reelection baffles me. First, make loser who also caused the loss of the Senate your only possible choice for 2024. Next, completely ignore what your constituency wants or needs (COVID Relief bill).
Sticking it to the libs is not a strategy.
Nobody is fooled. The Republicans have no intention of "working with" Biden on a relief bill. As Salon's Jon Skolnik reported, they've even brought in former Vice President Mike Pence this week to instruct them on how they successfully obstructed President Obama's agenda. They plan to win in 2022 by making the country fail. It's their go-to strategy.

Those people would throw Jesus in jail if they met him today.Lol .... many of these CPAQ people are Christian, so you’d think they’d recognize the reference in Exodus 32. Trumps always been a false idol of gold.
They’re doing their best to fulfill the prophecies of the last book in the New Testament, including the bit about falling for the Antichrist.
To be fair, sacrificing your soul to Hell so Jesus can save the libs must be pretty inspiring to the Qons. Perhaps whoever created the golden idol was pranking CPAQ.

The other half think they're going to make a major resurgence and sweep 2022 and 2024.
Yet, somehow the Trump, what ever the F you want to call it movement, is supposedly a populists movement. Even the liberal press keeps calling it that. (Of course they've been part of the problem all along, not really liberal).Their strategy is pretty simple and effective.
Step1: Sell out America to the Mega Rich and Mega Corporations.
Step2: Get massive amounts of money from Step1.
Step3: Spend that money convincing Americans that you didn't do Step1, and the Democrats are to blame for the consequences of Step1.
Step4: Win.
So far it has worked well enough to get Americans to try to overthrow their own democracy.
So THAT’S where Covid came from...

It is just the way it is. Americans are subjected to this conditioning from birth. "Democrats want to tax you to death!" is just reflexive now. "Common sense." Republicans will never be adequately punished for their behavior. GOP politicians could literally go door to door with flamethrowers, burning down every one of their voter's houses, and those voters will still reliably show up to vote them back into office.I don't feel that really clarifies anything! To be honest, it seems a rather circular answer.
