My cat tastes like chicken. ;)

Sounds pretty funny with the nip...get a laser-pointer, some catnip, and a 6 pack for yourself... :p

He'll move about 20 feet, then suddenly stop and stand stiff as a board in mid stride or mid motion like someone hit pause, he'll stay like that for about 20 seconds, then move again and be fine for about 20 minutes, then do it all over again. It's just too weird. But at least he's feeling better...I think.

And yes, the vet knows about it but says that I shouldn't worry about it. *shrug*

A few months back I came into the bathroom and found him sitting in the bathtub about shoulder deep in warm water enjoying the fresh bath I had just drawn obviously totally oblivious of the fact that he's sitting in water. The bath tub is the kind with the built in jacousi (sp?) jets and those were running at the time. So the summary of the story is my cat was sitting in my jacousi tub enjoying the bubbling water. hehe. :)

that stuff causes brain damage. of course with a cat it's hard to tell.

our cat takes showers with mrs. spamela. plus, he prefers sleeping on newspapers,
even if they're on the floor.

Have a cat that spoons water out of the water dish with her paw and drinks it. She literally spreads her paw open and uses the webbing to scoop up as much water as possible and then licks it out from between her fingers. My other cat goes absolutely ape $hit over Cheese Nips. He also loved Italian food and is consquently, a large orange striped tabby. Yes, he truly does love lasagne.

My GF has a 9mth old cat and a dog. She (cat) has obviously seen the dog fetch so most mornings when we're sitting at the kitchen table, the cat will steal a hair tie or scrunchy out of the kids rooms, bring it to one of us, drop in right next to me and sit, stare, and meow. If I'm not paying attention, she'll paw at my back through the chair w/ both paws. When I throw the hair thingy, she'll tear off after it, trot straight back with it *barely* hanging on by her mouth, and drop it next to me again (or in my hand if I put it under it). She'll do this until *you* get tired. Once I accidentally threw it over the bar, and instead of going around it like usual, she decided to jump up and over the bar. It was unexpected and we laughed our a**es off. Something I noticed that's funny is when bringing the hair thingy back, she has her tail down while she's on the carpet, then as soon as she hits the vinyl kitchen flooring, the tail immediately goes straight up. For balance I'd say. I pointed this out to everyone else and we got a good laugh.

Something else, this cat will not drink the water in her food/water bowl thats on top of the bathroom counter. She'll eat the food out of it, but will only drink the water from the dog's food/water bowl in the kitchen. What's up with that?

Also this cat loves to chew on the open top flaps of cardboard boxes. Also knawed up the corner pretty good on one of those tables that go at the foot of the bed. Also has torn up (killing some) several indoor few plants. Nothing compared to what the dog has torn up though. The cat likes to jump down on the dog's head too.

Oh, and my parents cat always wants to lie on newspaper.

Many cats do the wierd bird & squirrel calls looking out the window too.

WTH are you talking about? Catnip doesn't cause brain damage. Its just a plant that attracts cats because it simulates a feline sex attractant. It is not poisonous either, it is edible and even people use it for various things like teas and such.

My cat had strange behaviour too. If you put anything like a newspaper or a towel or even a folded paper bag on the floor, she would go over to it and lay down on it and sleep. And she would do the same walk and pause LordRaiden's cat does. Cats are just weird.

When the ear-cleaning kitten was teething she did that as well. Actually she still does that a little, though with cardboard boxes too.

Mildly related, I think it's a universal that all cats go nuts playing in tissue paper.

If you want to have fun playing with your cats, get a hold of a laser pointer. I've yet to see a cat who didn't go berserk chasing the dot around. They might have them at the pet store. In any case, our cats love chasing the thing around on the carpet and whatnot. Just be sure you have a nice big area for the cats to run around in while chasing it.

My cat used to do this thing where she would be acting perfectly normal and then all the sudden tense up like someone was after her or something. She would stop, tense up, and then just take off like a rocket, usually flying up or down the stairs.

I want to have a kitty again....

I think all kitties do that. What I love is when they start staring at the wall or something, but when you look there is nothing there.

Reminds me of the other night: My wife and I were watching Phone Booth (good flick, BTW) when the cats all of a sudden converge on the fireplace. I'm like, WTF is up with them? I go over there, and there's a bug crawling on the fireplace bricks.

I had to take it away from them before they Rodney Kinged the crap out of it, like they did this one time to a poor cricket that got in the house somehow. They were chasing the cricket around for about 10 minutes before they finally caught it. Found pieces of cricket everywhere after they were finished playing with it. :D

Catnip is fine, it's just a form of wild mint I believe.

I had a cat that took a liking to me when it was a kitten. I moved out of the house shortly after, and he stayed behind with my parents (dont want a house cat). He sulks whenever I'm not around apparently, will dissappear for days, but if he's told I'm coming to visit, will show up on that day.

He loves American cheese (think kraft singles). My dad feeds him cheese every morning if he's around. He'll wait by the kitchen door until he's let in for his cheese, which he eats on his rug, then he stands by the door to be let out. If it's raining or the weather is bad, he doesn't want to leave, so he'll run off and hide at the first chance he gets. My parents sent me some pictures of him hiding on my old bed, right on the pillow, fast asleep.

Nuisance was one of two small kittens my dad got for free a while after Samantha died.
Now, Samantha wasn't as much of a strange cat, but stubborn. My parents had to buy her because she sat in my lap and would not leave it at the pet store.
So, Nuisance is the one of two cats who would not stay in the box. She got out and had to play w/ my dad's feet (while he was driving!).
She cannot be on the floor. Book, fine. Newspaper, fine. Old E-week, fine, but not the floor!
Also, she likes laying over the right shoulder. Now, that might not be too strange, but if you don't pet her over-handed (which makes it harder for her to get in position to jump), she will jump on you and climb up there...then just lay there and purr.
She has never been taught not to get on counters and tables, and my mom is always getting mad at her over that.
She doesn't go crazy over a laser pointer, but will over the strings hanging from fans. She'd sit there on my shoulder and play with it all day if she could.
Oh, and she won't eat food out of a little bowl. She'll act all hungry even though there is plenty. Started filling up a big biscotti jar with food, where she paws it out and eats it, and she's fine.

My cat would never eat her food out of the bowl. She would always scoop it out onto the floor and eat it off the floor. But of course she always made sure to leave some there on the floor just to make a mess.

One night we were watching a movie and our cat caught a mouse. She had never done anything like this before. She was just standing there with the mouse hanging out of her mouse staring at us like "WTF do I do now?" Nice to know our fat lazy cat hasn't lost her wild instincts.

LOL....domestic cats have no clue about killing mice. They just play with them until the mouse gets away or dies of fright. I had a cat who caught mice sometimes, but just played with them because he didn't know what else he was supposed to do with them.

From what I understand, the cat has to be "trained" by their mother to be a mouser and kill the mice on purpose. ::shrug::

My cat LOVES sheets of plastic and plastic bags. Anything that crinkles when he chews on it amuses him immensely! He also carries aruond the clear cap from a bottle of Hershey's Syrup like it's his baby...crazy kitty!

My other cat likes to clean the floor with her back...she sleeps on her back and then briefly wakes up and flops around a bit, on her back the whole time, picking up all the dust off my floor. (what a useful kitty! :)) Also, she has this bad tendency to eat oreos if the fall on the floor...oi...

My cat does a few funny things, one of my sisters old baby doll bottles(one you can actually fill up) is his favorite thing to drink out of. You can fill it up and he will come over, you can set him in your arms like a baby and he will drink until the water is gone. Then try and get you till fill another up.

My cat also has the plastic bag licking fetish, only thing is that whenever he does lick them, about an hour later or so he always is throwing up, so we stopped letting him do it. Problem fixed.

He has done all sorts of funny things, one time when my father returned from a business trip he got up and decided to follow my father to the bathroom. My dad said that he was continously walking in front of him and meowing, pausing to make sure he was paying attention, as if he were telling my dad a story from when he was gone.
