AOC gets ridicule because she wants to change the US in to a hard core socialist nation. That doesn't make her an enemy, it makes her a cute kid with stars in her eyes. She went off to collage and learned how great life could be if we just allowed a kind and benevolent government to take care of us. She isn't a visionary, she doesn't have bold new ideas or a new and insightful method of governing. It's all socialism 101. It's all the same stuff Bernie was pushing, though none of it stopped him from becoming a millionaire.
I stand by my words, it's all media hype, it's the Kardashians in congress. Fluff and contrived drama designed to generate viewers and clicks.

I'm sure middle class wages will start going up again if we just give trickle down another forty years to start working. Sure slashing taxes for the wealthy hasn't worked yet, but we just need to have faith and stay the course. It's bound to kick in any decade now.

Goddamn Chris Cillizza is worthless. What misrepresented facts did he correct her on? I see him whining about the $21 trillion dollar thing without ever really explaining why it was a problem, and then shifting to Sarah Chunkofcheese Sanders lie about apprehending 4,000 people at the border.

I was assuming it was explained in the Washington Post article linked to - that the $21 trillion was a sort of crude sum of all the accounting anomalies across every project, but probably includes lots of double-counting as you can't just assume all those errors and puzzles can be simply added together to make a lump sum of spare money (and, presumably, I'm just guessing, at least some of it was actually spent on something justifiable, just wasn't properly put through the books).

Doesn't seem like a horrendous error in the context of general political rhetoric, as opposed to actually setting a budget. I mean, she's not the President's official press spokesperson. One would hope if she, say, became President, she'd improve her fact-checking a bit.

Point is it’s a very Sara Sanders type alternative fact. Perfectly fine to point out the alternative facts.

The Dems really need someone to rally behind for the next election. Arguably fractured voting (eg. Bernie votes leaving) cost them the last one.

Make no mistake. These freaks are more obsessed than Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.

Let me know when she lies an average of 15 times a day for a whole year, like our President.

Perspective. Get some.

Great point, had I been talking about wealth distribution it would have had some validity. I'm talking about the AOC hype and her views being simplistic. She has a bunch of popular one line ideas that are very easy to say, but she hasn't explained how to pay for them. "Take the money from rich people" isn't an answer, it's a slogan. I'll have a great deal more respect for her when she produces an actual plan and a real budget. I'm not morally against taking the money from the rich, but I'm pretty sure they don't have enough to cover it.

Let's find out, shall we?

America needs to send a message to the financial elite, the same message we sent them in the Great Depression- If we're going down, you're coming with us. It's the consequence of their own greedy leadership.

Lets see the plan before we take the shot. I went down this road with the ACA, it turned out that "affordable" meant a 40% increase in my rates.

You are actually projecting. It's the GOP that has the slogans that simpletons gobble up while the actual policies screw them over. AOC wants policy that is effective in most other countries. All we have to do is follow their blueprints.

That actually did work for the first ~125 or so years when our economy was set up that way. The still-fabulously wealthy people got mad that their 100s of millions weren't allowing them to have more than a dozen stone and marble super-estates with that ~80% tax rate, and that the country was churning on with fantastic wages and work for everyone....so then after capturing the GOP in the 20s, then crested with Reagan, we have what we have now. Utter shit, and utter failed policy for 40 years that the GOP has tried.

Here's what we know for a fact:

--this country works really well when Democrats are in charge and trusted to get the economy working (some 70+ years of complete congressional control)
--it splinters and falls apart when Republicans gain control: Reagan, Bush, Bush 2, now this Orange shitburger.

Why do we do things that don't work, when we already know what does work?

....yes, that's all very simplistic, obviously, but I'm just saying the "taking money from the rich people" idea actually worked really fucking well for the majority of this country's existence, and these were still the wealthiest people in the world, leaving their ancestors endless wealth for generations (yeah, we really should have taken more, because those are the assholes that are actually running things now). :D

WTF is it with conservatives not understanding that people have nicknames and it isn't a big deal? Just in this thread UC was still bashing Obama by using his old college nickname.

Who is 'Jim Hoft' and what strange world is this where news that someone used one mundane nickname in place of another unremarkable name when in college can merit a pompous all-caps EXCLUSIVE ?

OK, googled him and this was the first hit - I guess it explains it.

Particularly like how he thinks the structure of the atom itself is a secret Islamic symbol. He probably shares that belief with some Islamist fundamentalist somewhere.

The fear is real.

LOL, Nope.
You might not think it but theres a certainly seems to be a lot of attention coming her way from parts if the conservative sphere of influence.

Now you can equate that with concerns about Trump from the left but Trumps the frickin President! He's supposed to be in the news!
