Now the NRA has gotten in on the pile on. Don't they have enough problems, them being a front for Russian money laundering?

NRA targets Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in scathing attack, labelling her a 'self-absorbed socialist darling'

That doesn't seem far off the mark. She's clearly a socialist, self absorbed I don't know about, but my hunch would be yes. The darling part fits.
That's two out of three no matter how you cut it, stunningly accurate by today's media standards.

I don't recall AOC ever advocating for state ownership of businesses. That makes one of the 3 iffy.

Given the NRA vs AOC as being a threat to the US I feel better with AOC. I will give you the self-absorbed part but this is a thread about the right's obsession with her.

She seems the only one of any political or ideological stripe in Congress that is anti-extinction, so that gets my support. On some other ideas no, but at least there's a starting point for addressing complex issues with meritorious solutions.

Define the term socialist. Since it seems to be all over the place its impossible to have a discussion about it without understanding what you consider "socialist".

Socialism would be more akin to Trump where he IS the state and acts to remove the rights of land ownership for an imaginary emergency.

At least we know that everything we heard Trump say to Tim Cook is wrong. Trump said "Cook", just ask him. Looks like another socialist adjustment on reality must be made.

When she was running for congress she described herself as a "democratic socialist". I accept her definition of herself at face value.

I don't. Bernie self identifies as a socialist yet his agenda is also plain old pre-Reagan moderate liberal type stuff.

What do you think she means when she describes herself that way?

After all, socialism can mean nationalizing all industry or socialism can mean the countries of Scandinavia. The difference seems pretty important, no?

That's the self absorbed 29 year old naivety talking. She threw around the word socialist without thinking Republicans could use the word to define her before defining herself.

Hopefully with experience she will adapt.

I don't know what she means, I doubt she knows herself. My response was about the accuracy of the NRA headline.

I thought his name was Tim Apple?

Why do you doubt she knows herself? Maybe listen a bit, or you know, spend less time forming opinions simply based on comfortable assumptions?

Democratic socialism is a frequent descriptor of the model used in the Scandinavian countries. Do you think its fair to shorten that descriptor to just "socialist" or "socialism"? That doesn't appear to be accurate depiction of how she she has described her self.

The NRA does the bestest conspiracy theories. Better than Birtherism, Benghazi, reefer madness, voter fraud or anything Alex Jones ever came up with. They have their rubes totally dialed in.

Sigh.... Trumpsters are picking this up.

Republicans going NPC route on AOC. That she was run for Congress, that it wasn't her decision. That a political group is behind her campaign and her policies. She's just a pretty face for monsters trying to take over Congress.

He's calling out Justice Democrats and Young Turks.
