The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

Considering mine was 64% and i coudn't do multiple runs at 1100 or probably even 1050 after a few tries.

Id say otherwise.

Yours is higher, yours clocks higher.
For Air it's a very good indicator seemingly.

my mistake, you're probably right. i lose sight of what the average OC is for these cards.

So I'm stable at 1260mhz on the core and 5600mhz on the memory after flashing to the Asus bios which allows me to run at 1.3v. I'm very happy with my card now and it's in line with my expectations. 🙂

could you put your hardware specs in your signature maybe ? 🙂

I forget what card you have and are flashing here

Sick flash to a 7870 bios amd see if it unlocks
Someone tried going from a "7830" to a 7850 and it didn't work; the cores are laser cut. I'm not willing to risk it for that. I'm happy with my card as it is.

The only thing I will try is the Asus Top bios if it works for you.

You get >GTX580 level of performance with that ridiculous 47% overclock. At lower wattage/noise/heat and price, too. Nice.

I'm not finding any bios images on their website 🙁

could you possibly link us ?

The Powercolor stock volts were 1.21v. I'm not sure what the Asus stock volts are.

My ASIC quality is only 71.9%.

Had same stock volts of 1.21 with asus.
asic of 63.

1300mV wasn't even 1200Mhz stable.

Seems like to reach the heights of 1200 you need ATLEAST 70% asic quality.
If ASIC quality is a valued metric.

I just don't understand how some MSI cards can have a stock volt of 1.09 and so on, and ours has 1.21

HUGE difference in chip quality -_-

From what I understand it's just the luck of the draw. I was hoping for 1300mhz but I can live with 1240mhz.

That's too bad that you got such a poor overclocker.

What voltage are you using?

I know we previously said that 1.25v is the max "safe" voltage but it seems some people go as high as 1.3v.

How do we know when we've applied too much voltage? My card continues to run pretty cool under load, so if temperature isn't an indicator what else is? Do you stop once you start smelling smoke? 🙂

I honestly don't know, but I'm comfortable with 1.3v personally seeing as 1.21v was stock voltage; I'm not even increasing it by 10%.

I'm using 1.3v. I tried 1.25v and 1.275v and the card wasn't stable 100%.

now that i have time to do full runs of heaven, i'm finding my previous settings weren't stable.

thus far i can do full stable runs at 1150 Core, 1.250 V, 5800 Memory.

I'm having strange issues in Heaven. I find that the framerate is jerky and I'm getting significantly worse results than others with the same hardware. I wonder if it's Powertune or some sort of glitch.

Other times I find that in games I'll be at 30fps, then if I alt+tab out then back in it jumps up to 60fps.
