Are you saying OCZ isn't a proven brand?
As to the OP's question, the Powerstream is great but I'm not sure its $30 better, I'd say if you have the extra $30 go for it but if you don't have those extra $30 the enermax is great to.
 
Have you guys seen the Seasonic S12-500?

It's a bit of a newer PSU, but actually outputs more than that OCZ unit can because it's extremely efficient and is very quiet as well.

They have sound files of the fans on them at different heat levels. At max output the Seasonic pulls 430W and the OCZ does 385W. To figure this out you take the efficiency the tests rated them as and multiply that percentage by the W rating. So the OCZ does 528 x .73 = max output of 385W. Seasonic does 500 x .86 = max output of 430W.

No, I'm not. I'm saying Enermax is a proven brand. It's also been around for waaay longer than OCZ, and has always been a proven brand. AFAIK it's been around for even longer than Antec. In fact, the first good PSU brand I've heard about (before PSUs were regarded as generic gray boxes that didn't matter) was Enermax. OCZ has been around for 2, maybe 3 years tops? Enermax has been around for easily a decade.

Enermax PSUs are made by Channel Well Technology.

OCZ PSUs are made by Topower.

BOTH CWT and Topower are 1st tier power supply manufacturers. Both are awesome PSUs.

What kind of "PSU Shootout" is this anyways? There are no less than a dozen great PSUs...actually, more like two dozen if we're talking about all different models offered by companies.

ocz has impressed me with their PSU's.
Enermax... not so much. Not really happy with my current enermax 460w, wouldn't buy it again.
 
I've never used an OCZ power supply, but I hear they aren't too shabby. Currently, I like Antec, Enermax and PC P & C.
Thermaltake for cheap systems.
 
OCZ. Adjustable rails = winnar. besides, OCZ product support is great, and they offer 5yr warranty on the powerstream.

of course. almost every powersupply made comes out of chinese factory. the tell all difference comes from the components used, like the size of the heatsinks, who manufacturers the capacitors. the biggest problem with cheap powersupplies is CHEAP capacitors and rinky dink heatsinks. OCZ def does not fall into the cheap category like Deer does. oh, my modstream is so far the BEST powersupply i've had for my athlon XP system in a couples years (i've went thru a handful of powersupplies prior, antec truepower 550 the last one to FAIL only after 2yrs)

Are you engineer with specific requirement?

If you cannot answer either question your shortwind answer gain no merit!

This is why certify component are very expensive. Cheap knockoff stuff cheap for reason! Failure rate and inconsistency along line is high. Fortunately most personal computer have wide tolerance to such need. Have a specific need, forget it!

Hmm, I didn't read through the whole review on legitreviews but I did notice that the pictures of the PSU shows that the OCZ uses Teapo capacitors. Teapo is a really cheap Taiwanese brand that, IIRC, was linked to leaking capacitor horror stories in the past. Good capacitor brands include Rubycon, which is a Japanese brand
